Southbound Red Line trains that normally operate through the subway between the Fullerton station and the Cermak/Chinatown station will be rerouted from the subway to the elevated tracks from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Monday, November 19 and Tuesday November 20.

Rerouted southbound trains will stop at the following elevated stations between Cermak/Chinatown and Fullerton: Sedgwick, Chicago/Franklin, Merchandise Mart, Clark/Lake, State/Lake, Randolph/Wabash, Madison/Wabash, Adams/Wabash and Roosevelt/Wabash. The Merchandise Mart station is available as an exit only (via stairway) on from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m.

Customers who wish to travel southbound from downtown stations can access southbound Red Line trains at any of the elevated stations along Lake or Wabash streets on the Inner Loop track. Customers who wish to travel southbound from the North/Clybourn, Clark/Division, Chicago or Grand Red Linestations can board a northbound train and exit at Fullerton to board southbound Red Line trains on the southbound platform.

Customers traveling southbound to downtown should exit Red Line trains at any elevated station along Lake or Wabash.

Southbound customers who wish to exit at the North/Clybourn, Clark/Division, Chicago or Grand stations should travel to the State/Lake elevated station and exit to the Lake Street Red Line subway station to board a northbound Red Line train. Southbound customers are asked to allow extra travel time.

Southbound Red Line trains will operate normally between the Howard and Fullerton stations and between the Cermak/Chinatown and 95th Street stations. Northbound Red Line service is not affected.

Weeknights to mid-December either northbound or southbound Red Line trains will be rerouted to the elevated tracks from 9 p.m. each night until 5 a.m. the following morning to allow crews to replace deteriorated wooden rail ties with concrete rail ties and eliminate slow zones from Grand to Clark/Division.
