Bank of America Chicago Marathon 

Begins at approximately 6:30am, Sun, Oct 13

During the Marathon, the Chicago Police Department will close streets as runners travel through areas along the marathon course. The following CTA bus routes will be affected: 3, 4, 6, 8, 9, 12, J14, 18, 20, 21, 22, 29, 35, 36, 50, 56, 60, 62, 65, 66, 70, 72, 73, 74, 76, 77, 80, 124, 126, 146,147, 151, and 152.

Delays are expected. Allow extra travel time and use CTA rail service whenever possible.

Extra rail service is provided for the convenience of customers attending the Bank of America Chicago Marathon:

Red Line: Trains will operate every 10 minutes from 5am to 6:30am, every 8 minutes from 6:30am to 7:30am, and every 5 minutes from 7:30am to 5pm.

Blue Line: Longer trains will operate from 5am to 5pm. Service will operate from O’Hare every 10 minutes from 5:30am to 7am.

Brown Line: Longer trains will operate from 5am to 5pm. Service will operate every 10 minutes from 6am to 10:30am.

Orange Line: Longer trains will operate from 4:30am to 5pm.

Green Line: Longer trains will operate from 5am to 5pm. Service will operate from Harlem every 10 minutes from 10am to 3:30pm, and every 20 minutes from Ashland/63rd and Cottage Grove/63rd from 10am to 3:30pm.

Purple Line: Earlier service will operate from Linden every 15 minutes, with the first train leaving Linden at 5:30am.

Bike Restrictions: Due to the marathon, heavy crowds are expected on CTA trains. To accommodate as many riders as possible, and for everyone's safety, there are restrictions on bikes on trains on Sunday, October 13. Bicycles are not permitted on trains between 6am and 6pm. Bicycles are permitted on buses equipped with bike racks (maximum of 2 bikes per rack).

How does this affect my trip?
Board/exit all trains on the Forest Park-bound side of the platform at the UIC-Halsted, Clinton, and LaSalle stations.

Trains in both directions will operate on the same track between Racine and Jackson, resulting in minor delays.

Allow extra travel time.

Why is service being changed?
Service is being affected due to IDOT construction on the I-290 Expressway.



BROWN LINE

How does this affect my trip?
6am to 12 noon:
Board/exit all trains on the Loop-bound platform at the Irving Park, Montrose, and Damen stations.

12 noon to 4:30pm: Board/exit all trains on the Kimball-bound platform at the Damen, Montrose, and Irving Park
stations.

Trains in both directions will operate on the same track between Addison and Western, resulting in minor delays.

Allow extra travel time.

Why is service being changed?
We are performing structural maintenance to ensure that trains continue to operate safely along the Brown Line.

For service to Downtown, transfer to Red/Orange/Green line trains at the Roosevelt station. Southbound buses will begin their trips at Roosevelt/State, operate via Roosevelt to Michigan, then resume their normal route on Michigan.

#6 Jackson Park Express – Northbound buses will operate via Columbus and Roosevelt to Wabash, ending their trips at Roosevelt/Wabash. For service to Downtown, transfer to Red/Orange/Green line trains at the Roosevelt station. Southbound buses will begin at State/Roosevelt, operate via Roosevelt to Columbus, then resume their normal route on Columbus.

#J14 Jeffery Jump – Northbound buses will operate via Columbus, Roosevelt, Wabash, and Jefferson to Madison, then resume their normal route on Jefferson. Southbound buses will operate via Washington, Clinton, and Roosevelt, then resume their normal route on Columbus.

#22 Clark – Southbound buses will operate via Clark, Wacker, and Dearborn, ending their trips at Dearborn/Wacker. Northbound buses will begin their trips at Dearborn/Wacker, then continue their normal route on Dearborn.

#29 State – Northbound buses will end their trips at State/Roosevelt. For service to Downtown, transfer to Red/Green/Orange line trains at the Roosevelt station. Southbound buses will begin their trips at Roosevelt/State, then resume their normal route on State.

#36 Broadway – Southbound buses will operate via State, Wacker, and Dearborn, ending their trips at Dearborn/Wacker. Northbound buses will begin their trips at Dearborn/Wacker, then continue their normal route on Dearborn.

#62 Archer – Northbound buses will end their trips at State/Roosevelt. For service to Downtown, transfer to Red/Orange/Green line trains at the Roosevelt station. Southbound buses will begin their trips at State/Roosevelt, operate via Roosevelt, Wabash, 13th, Michigan, and Roosevelt, then resume their normal route on State.

#146 Inner Drive Express#147 Outer Drive Express#151 Sheridan – Southbound buses will operate via Michigan, Ontario, Clark, Wacker, and Dearborn, ending their trips at Dearborn/Grand. For service to Downtown, transfer to Red Line trains at the Grand station located at Grand/State. Northbound buses will begin their trips at Dearborn/Grand, operate via Dearborn and Ohio, then resume their normal route on Michigan.

Southbound buses will begin their trips at Roosevelt/State operate via State, 25th and I-55 (Stevenson Expressway), then resume their normal route on King Drive.

9:30am to 4pm – Northbound buses will operate via King Drive, 24th Place, I-55 (Stevenson Expressway), State, and Harrison, then resume their normal route on Michigan.

#3 King Drive Special Service

Special service will operate between Mies van der Rohe/Walton and McCormick Place.

Fri: Buses will operate every 10 tp 15 minutes from 8am to 9pm.

Sat: Buses will operate every 10 to 15 minutes from 8am to 7pm.

Sun: Buses will operate every 15 minutes from 5:30am to 9am.

Board at any regular bus stop along the special route and along the regular route south of Chicago Avenue. 

 

#4 Cottage Grove Temporary Reroute

How does this affect my trip?
6:30am to 9:30am – Northbound buses will operate via 35th, King Drive, 24th Place, I-55 (Stevenson Expressway), and State to Roosevelt. Use Red, Green, or Orange line trains to travel between Roosevelt station and Downtown. Buses will continue via State, Polk, Clark, and Roosevelt, ending their trips at Roosevelt/State.

Northbound buses will begin their trips at Dearborn/Grand, operate via Dearborn, Walton, Clark, Division, Inner Lake Shore Drive, LaSalle Drive, Lake Shore Drive, and Irving Park, then resume their normal route on Clark.

9:30am to 11:30am – Southbound buses will operate via Clark, Irving Park, Lake Shore Drive, LaSalle Drive, Inner Lake Shore Drive, and Division, then resume their normal route on Clark.

Northbound buses will operate via Clark, Division, Inner Lake Shore Drive, LaSalle Drive, Lake Shore Drive, and Irving Park, then resume their normal route on Clark.

Use Red or Brown line trains for alternate service.

Note: A special shuttle will operate between Clark/Irving Park and Clark/Belmont. Southbound buses will operate via Clark, Belmont, and Halsted, ending at the Belmont/Halsted terminal. Northbound buses will begin at the Belmont/Halsted terminal, operate via Belmont, Clark, Southport, and Irving Park, ending their trips at Clark/Irving Park.

6:30am to 12 noon: Route will operate in two sections:Trips to/from the West Side will begin/end at Chicago/Franklin.

6:30am to 1pm: A shuttle will operate between Chicago/Clark and Navy Pier:

Eastbound buses will operate via Chicago, Fairbanks, Ohio, McClurg, Illinois, and Streeter, ending their trips at the Navy Pier Terminal.

Westbound buses will begin their trips at the Navy Pier Terminal, operate via Grand, McClurg, Ontario, Fairbanks, Chicago, Dearborn, Walton, and Clark, ending their trips at Clark/Chicago.
