Rail Lines

Aug 13 – 14

9pm Thu to 6am Fri*

No Green, Brown, Orange, Pink line service downtown 9pm-6am​
From 9pm-6am the next morning, some train services to the downtown area will be temporarily suspended at the request of public safety officials.

  • Green Line service will not run between Ashland and 47th
  • Brown Line service will not run between Belmont and Loop
  • Orange Line service will not run between Halsted and Loop
  • Pink Line service will not run between Polk and Loop (but connect to Blue Line at Racine)

Note: Red and Blue line services will now continue to run through downtown.

Bus service will continue to operate into the downtown area. Some buses may be rerouted due to bridge or street closures.

BROWN LINE

Boarding Change, Delays Between Belmont and Irving Park

How does this affect my trip?
Board/exit all trains on the Loop-bound platform at the Southport, Paulina, and Addison stations.

Trains in both directions will operate on the same track between Belmont and Irving Park, resulting in minor delays.

Allow extra travel time.

Why is service being changed?
We are performing structure maintenance to ensure that trains continue to operate safely on the Brown Line.


PINK LINE

Delays Between 54th/Cermak and Cicero

How does this affect my trip?
Trains in both directions will operate on the same track between 54th/Cermak and Cicero, resulting in minor delays.

Allow extra travel time.

Why is service being changed?
We are performing track maintenance to ensure that trains continue to operate safely along the Pink Line.
 

PURPLE LINE EXPRESS
August 10 - 14

Purple Line Trains Share Track with Red Line between Howard and Belmont

How does this affect my trip? 
Purple Line Express trains will share the same track with Red Line trains between Howard (for Linden-bound trains) or Granville (for Loop-bound trains) and Belmont.

Purple Line Express trains will continue to run express between Howard and Belmont, making only regular stops at Howard, Wilson and Belmont. However, minor delays may occur.

Allow extra travel time.

Why is service being changed? 
Purple Line service is being changed due to the temporary closure of two tracks between Granville and Berwyn stations to accommodate track and signal construction in preparation for the Red and Purple Modernization (RPM) project.

 

RED LINE

Granville, Thorndale and Bryn Mawr Temporary Station Closure

How does this affect my trip?
Granville, Thorndale and Bryn Mawr stations will temporarily close.

Shuttle buses will provide service between Loyola (accessible) and Berwyn, stopping near the affected Red Line stations (see map at right). Transfer at Loyola or at Berwyn between Red Line trains and shuttle buses.

Allow extra travel time.

Note: #84 Peterson buses will be rerouted to connect to Berwyn station for convenient connection to trains in both directions. See separate customer alert for details.

Why is service being changed?
We are performing track and signal construction in preparation for the Red and Purple Modernization (RPM) project.

Bus Routes

#3 King Drive Temporary Reroute 

Aug 12 – 17
11am Wed to 5pm Mon or completion

How does this affect my trip?
Southbound
buses will operate via King Drive, 87th, Cottage Grove, and 95th, ending their trips at the 95th/St. Lawrence bus terminal.

Northbound buses are not affected.

Allow extra travel time.

Why is service being changed?
Buses are rerouted due to utility construction on King Drive between 92nd and 93rd.


#36 Broadway Temporary Reroute

Aug 14 – 17
9am Fri to 5am Mon or completion

How does this affect my trip?
Buses will operate in both directions via Clark, Oak, and State.

Allow extra travel time.

Why is service being changed?
Buses are rerouted due to Dining in the Streets.


#126 Jackson Temporary Reroute

Aug 11 – 17
8am Tue to 5am Mon or completion

How does this affect my trip?
Westbound buses will operate via Van Buren, Morgan, Adams, and Racine, then resume their normal route on Van Buren.

Eastbound buses are not affected.

Allow extra travel time.

Why is service being changed?
Buses are rerouted due to construction at Van Buren/Aberdeen.
