Mon, Feb 19, 2024 to early 2025

Harlem (O’Hare branch) Station’s West Entrance Temporary Closure

How does this affect my trip?
The west entrance to the Harlem (O’Hare branch) Blue Line station on Higgins Avenue and the adjacent Park and Ride lot will temporarily close.

To enter/exit the station and make connections with #88 Higgins and #90 Harlem buses, customers may use the east entrance on Harlem Avenue. See separately posted alerts and station signage for details.

Alternative parking is available at the Cumberland Blue Line Station (5800 N Cumberland Ave). For additional information or any questions please call (773) 714-9262 or visit Parking.com.

Why is service being changed?
The station’s west entrance and Park and Ride lot are temporarily closed while we reconstruct the Harlem Blue Line station’s bus bridge over the Kennedy Expressway.

Boarding Change, Delays Between Cumberland and Jefferson Park

How does this affect my trip?
Board/exit all trains on the O’Hare-bound side of the platform at the Harlem (O’Hare branch) station.

Trains in both directions will operate on the same track between Cumberland and Jefferson Park, resulting in minor delays.

Allow extra travel time.

Why is service being changed?
We are reconstructing the Harlem Blue Line station’s bus bridge over the Kennedy Expressway.

10pm Sun to 4am Mon

Delays Between Rosemont and O’Hare

How does this affect my trip?
Trains in both directions will operate on the same track between Rosemont and O’Hare, resulting in minor delays.

Allow extra travel time.

Why is service being changed?
We are performing track maintenance to ensure that trains continue to operate safely along the Blue Line.

 

RED LINE

9pm Sat to 9am Sun

95th-bound Subway Trains Rerouted to Elevated Tracks

How does this affect my trip?
95th-bound Red Line subway trains are rerouted to the elevated tracks between Fullerton and Cermak-Chinatown.

At North/Clybourn, Clark/Division, Chicago and Grand stations:

  • For 95th-bound service from these stations, take a Howard-bound train to Fullerton and transfer to a 95th-bound train.
  • For 95th-bound service to these stations, take a 95th-bound train to State/Lake and transfer to a Howard-bound train in the Red Line subway.

Downtown:

  • Board/exit 95th-bound trains at any Lake or Wabash Loop elevated station.

At Roosevelt station:

  • Board/exit 95th-bound trains on the Green/Orange lines elevated platform.

Allow extra travel time.

Why is service being changed?
We are performing maintenance in the State Street subway.

* Entry/exit at Merchandise Mart station is via the Kinzie auxiliary entrance stairways, and requires a farecard (no vending machines), from 2am to 5am Sunday. ADA-accessible entry/exit not available during these times.

Temporary Reroute
#9 Ashland
#X9 Ashland Express

9am, Mon, Feb 19 to 4pm, Mon, Mar 4 or completion

How does this affect my trip?
Southbound #9 Ashland and #X9 Ashland Express buses will operate via Ashland, Grand, Ogden, and Fulton, then resume their normal route on Ashland.

Northbound #9 and #X9 buses are not affected.

Allow extra travel time.

Why is service being changed?
Buses are rerouted due to railroad construction on Ashland between Fulton and Carroll.

 

#84 Peterson Temporary Reroute

Feb 23 – 26
9pm Fri to 5am Mon or completion

How does this affect my trip?
Eastbound
 buses will operate via Ridge, Hollywood, Broadway and Thorndale, ending their trips at the Thorndale Red Line station.

Westbound buses will begin their trips at the Thorndale Red Line station, operate via Thorndale, Sheridan and Hollywood, then resume their normal route on Ridge.

Buses will not operate on Bryn Mawr Avenue.

Allow extra travel time.

Why is service being changed?
Buses are rerouted due to the closure of Bryn Mawr Avenue between Broadway and Winthrop for construction of the new Bryn Mawr station as part of the Red and Purple Modernization (RPM) Program.

Temporary Bus Stop Changes
#88 Higgins
#90 Harlem

How does this affect my trip?
#88 Higgins 
and #90 Harlem buses will not enter the Harlem (O’Hare branch) Blue Line station’s bus terminal.

Board northbound #88 buses at Harlem/Bryn Mawr (Stop StopF). Southbound #88 buses are not affected.

Northbound #90 buses will end their trips at Harlem/Bryn Mawr (Stop StopF). Southbound #90 buses will begin their trips at Harlem/Bryn Mawr, operate via Harlem, Talcott, Sayre and Bryn Mawr, then resume their normal route on Harlem. Board southbound #90 buses on Harlem, just outside the station’s east entrance on Harlem (Stop StopE).
