Let CTA Do the Driving and Leave Your Car and Expensive Parking Behind!

August 29, 2019

Make the most of this Labor Day weekend by taking advantage of CTA’s last few days of expanded summer service to some of Chicago’s most popular destinations. Starting Tuesday, September 3, CTA will discontinue its #10 Museum of Science and Industry and #130 Museum Campus service. Additionally, the following routes will no longer serve the beach: #35 31st/35th, #63 63rd, #72 North and #78 Montrose. The #124 Navy Pier will also return to its non-summer hours schedule.

Event service/extra service
North Coast Music Festival at Northerly Island – Fri. 8/30 and Sat. 8/31 from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Tennessee Titans vs. Chicago Bears at Soldier Field – Thurs. 8/29 at 7 p.m.

Wrigley Field
Milwaukee Brewers vs. Chicago Cubs – Fri. 8/30, Sat. 8/31 and Sun. 9/1 at 1:20 p.m.
Seattle Mariners vs. Chicago Cubs – Mon. 9/2 at 1:20 p.m. and Tues. 9/3 at 7:05 p.m.

Need another great reason to take CTA to the Cubs game? Limos, ride-hailing vehicles and taxis will be restricted from picking up and dropping off passengers in close proximity to Wrigley Field in order to reduce traffic congestion.

CTA recommends allowing plenty of travel time and purchasing fares and unlimited-ride passes in advance. More information about purchasing fares is below.

Fare Information
Customers can add unlimited ride passes (1-day, 3-day, 7-day and 30-day) or add money to their Ventra cards for pay-per-ride via the following ways: free Ventra app, rail station Ventra vending machines, online or at nearly 900 local retailers (for locations visit ventrachicago.com or the Ventra app).

Single-ride tickets are also available for purchase ($3) at all Ventra vending machines. Single-ride tickets include up to two transfers in two hours.

In a hurry? Ventra allows riders to use Apple Pay, Android Pay or Samsung Pay, or any contactless credit or debit card, for pay-as-you-go rides ($2.25 for bus, $2.50 for train).

Service Information
Plan your trip using the Google Transit Trip Planner. Be sure to also check out CTA on Facebook or Twitter (@CTA) for system travel updates and alerts. For details about all CTA service, call 312-836-7000 or visit the CTA website at transitchicago.com.
