Madison and Wabash Loop Link platform opens; Diversey Brown Line Station temporarily impacted by maintenance work; CTA to provide extra service for United Center events
The Chicago Transit Authority is notifying customers that the new Loop Link bus platform at Madison and Wabash will be open beginning on Sunday. CTA is also providing extra service to upcoming events at the United Center.
Separately, Kimball-bound Brown Line train service will be temporarily affected at the Diversey station this weekend due to track maintenance work.
Loop Link
The new Loop Link platform at Madison and Wabash will open beginning this Sunday at 5 a.m. The newly opened platform will initially only be accessible from the east end of the platform at Garland Court due to ongoing work on the nearby Washington Wabash CTA train station by the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT). The west end of the platform is scheduled to be opened in late summer. All remaining Loop Link bus platforms have been open since Dec. 20, when the Loop Link began service. The Loop Link provides dedicated bus-only lanes on Washington, Madison, Clinton and Canal, serving six CTA bus routes: #J14, #20, #56, #60, #124 and #157. A seventh route, the #19, provides service to and from the United Center only on event days, such as Bulls and Blackhawks home games.
Kimball-bound Trains to Temporarily Bypass Diversey Station
Track maintenance work will require Kimball-bound (northbound) Brown Line trains to temporarily bypass the Diversey station beginning Saturday at approximately 7 a.m. until Sunday at approximately 5 p.m.
Loop-bound (southbound) Brown Line trains are unaffected and will continue to serve all stations.
Kimball-bound customers who wish to exit at Diversey will need to travel to Wellington and then transfer to a Loop-bound (southbound) train.
Kimball-bound customers traveling from the Diversey station will need to board a Loop-bound train to Fullerton and transfer to a Kimball-bound train.
Normal service will resume at approximately 5 p.m. on Sunday.
