O’Hare Branch Blue Line improvement work to impact service between Jefferson Park and Harlem this weekend
Did you know that CTA provides easy, affordable connections to some of Chicago’s most popular destinations? We’ve also expanded service this summer to make it even more convenient for customers to get to the beach, park, concerts, museums and more this season!
Event service/extra service
Ultimate Fighting Championship – Sat. 6/8 at 5 p.m.
Billie Eilish Concert – Sun. 6/9 at 7:30 p.m.
Colorado Rockies vs. Chicago Cubs - Thurs. 6/6 at 1:20 p.m.
St. Louis Cardinals vs. Chicago Cubs – Fri. 6/7 and Sun. 6/9 at 1:20 p.m. Sat. 6/8 at 6:15 p.m.
Need another great reason to take CTA to the Cubs game? Limos, ride-hailing vehicles and taxis are restricted from picking up and dropping off passengers in close proximity to Wrigley Field in order to reduce traffic congestion.
CTA recommends allowing plenty of travel time and purchasing fares and unlimited-ride passes in advance. More information about purchasing fares is below.
Interruption of O’Hare Branch Blue Line Service between Jefferson Park and Harlem
There will be a temporary interruption in O’Hare branch Blue Line service between Jefferson Park and Harlem stations this weekend from 10 p.m. Friday, June 7 until 4 a.m. Monday, June 10.
During this period, free bus shuttle service will be provided between Jefferson Park and Harlem stations. CTA encourages customers to allow for extra travel time.
This service interruption is due to signal work occurring between the two stations as part of the $492 million Your New Blue (YNB) program. Considered the largest investment in the Blue Line since it was extended to O’Hare International Airport 30 years ago, Your New Blue is modernizing and improving stations along this critical line as well as making track and signal system improvements to increase service reliability for customers. More project information can be found at http://www.transitchicago.com/yournewblue/.
Buy your unlimited ride passes and fares in advance
Avoid long lines to buy fares! Customers can add unlimited ride passes (1-day, 3-day, 7-day and 30-day) or add money to pay per-ride to their Ventra cards ahead of time via the free Ventra app, at rail station Ventra vending machines, online or at nearly 900 local retailers (for locations visit ventrachicago.com or the Ventra app).
Customers can also purchase 1-day unlimited ride tickets ($10) or single-ride tickets ($3) from all Ventra vending machines. Single-ride tickets include up to two transfers in two hours. Customers can also pay their fares with their personal contactless debit or credit cards.
