The most effective way for baseball fans to travel to the annual interleague series at U.S. Cellular Field this weekend is on a Chicago Transit Authority train or bus.
In the Loop, fans can simply board a southbound CTA Red Line train to Sox-35th station. The fare is $1.75 each way. From State Street stations downtown to Sox-35th takes only about 10 to 12 minutes, and from 95th, the trip is approximately 18 minutes.
Red Line trains operate between Howard and 95th and free connections can be made from all 'L' lines serving downtown or from Brown Line trains at Belmont and Fullerton for fans traveling from the North Side.
U.S. Cellular Field is also served by #35 35th buses, which connect with accessible stations on both the Green and Orange lines. On weekdays through early evening, #24 Wentworth serves the park from Clark Street downtown, and from 79th via Vincennes, Wentworth and LaSalle. Another option is the #29 State bus, which operates on State Street between 95th/Dan Ryan and Navy Pier.
Prior to the games, CTA volunteers will be distributing a commemorative 2005 Cubs-Sox interleague series poster to fans who use the Red Line to get to the game. Volunteers will begin to greet customers approximately 90 minutes before game time to hand out posters at the Red Line Sox-35th Street Station June 24, 25 and 26.
