Innermost northbound and southbound lanes closed for two weeks, Oct. 14-29
Construction work associated with the 95th Street Terminal Improvement Project will require the temporary closure of two lanes -- the innermost northbound and southbound lanes of the Dan Ryan Expressway near 95th Street beginning later this week. These two lanes will be closed from 87th Street to just south of 95th Street.
The temporary closure of these lanes, which are adjacent to CTA’s Red Line tracks, will begin at 10 p.m. Saturday, October 14 and is expected to continue through 10 p.m. Sunday, October 29, 2017. The lane closures are required as CTA continues efforts to expand and greatly improve the 95th/Dan Ryan Red Line rail station and bus terminal.
The $280 million 95th Street Terminal Improvement project is the largest station project in CTA history and is creating thousands of jobs for local residents. The completed project will create a signature station for the South Side that will better serve the existing high volume of riders by providing safer passenger access to buses and the train station.
Construction on the 95th Street Terminal began in late 2014. The south terminal is scheduled to be completed in early 2018 while the north terminal will be ready in late 2018. CTA continues to work closely with partner agencies Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), the Office of Emergency Management and Communications (OEMC) and the Illinois State Police (ISP) while this major project is under construction.
