CTA’s trains and buses are the best ways to get to various sporting events, concerts, and Riot Fest in Douglass Park; Weekend construction work to impact the Red Line
As we approach the 21st night of September, let CTA be your choice to get around Chicagoland. Customers can save money by purchasing an unlimited rides pass, either the 1-Day ($5) – far more economical and convenient than the price of gas and parking - or the 3-Day ($15) pass – a real budget-saving move.
Service for Upcoming Events
Riot Fest
Douglass Park – Fri. 9/19, Sat. 9/20 and Sun. 9/21 at 12 p.m.
Service:
- Rail: Take the Pink Line and exit at the California station.
- Bus: Several CTA routes will provide the closest service to the festival including the following:
- #12 Roosevelt
- #49 Western
- #94 California

Race to Wrigley 5K Charity Run
Lakeview Neighborhood/Wrigley Field – Sun. 9/21 at 8 p.m.
Service:
- Rail: Take the Red Line; customers traveling southbound should exit at the Addison station and when traveling northbound exit at the Sheridan or Belmont stations.
- Bus: Several CTA routes in the area will be rerouted including the following:
- #22 Clark
- #80 Irving Park
- #151 Sheridan
- #152 Addison

United Center Events
- Lady Gaga – Thu. 9/18 at 8 p.m.
- Lorde – Fri. 9/19 at 7 p.m.
- Kalis Uchis – Mon. 9/22 and Tue. 9/23 at 8 p.m.
- NBA Youngboy – Wed. 9/24 at 7 p.m.
Service:
- Rail: Take the Green Line and exit at the new Damen station or exit at the Ashland station from either a Green or Pink line train.
- Get to and from the following events via the #20 Madison and #50 Damen bus routes. Customers can also take the #19 United Center Express route post event.
Soldier Field
- Dallas Cowboys vs. Chicago Bears – Sun. 9/21 at 3:25 p.m.
Service:
- Rail: The Red, Orange and Green lines provide the closest access to Soldier Field. Exit at the Roosevelt station.
- Bus: Service on the #146 Inner Lake Shore/Michigan Express route.
Huntington Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island
Service on the #146 Inner Lake Shore/Michigan Express route
- Goose – Sat. 9/20 at 7:30 p.m.
Wrigley Field
- New York Mets vs. Chicago Cubs – Tue. 9/23 at 6:40 p.m., Wed. 9/24 at 7:05 p.m. and Thu. 9/25 at 6:40 p.m.
Service:
- Red Line: The Addison station is located just a half block east of Wrigley Field.
- Purple Line: Before weeknight events only, Loop-bound Purple Line Express trains will stop at the Sheridan station.
- Yellow Line: Take the Yellow Line and transfer at Howard to the Red Line; continue to Addison station. To accommodate fans returning home, the Yellow Line will run for an hour later from Howard – until midnight – for all night games at Wrigley Field.
- #152 Addison: The #152 route will provide additional service on Cubs game days, with more frequent service two hours before and one hour after all games.
- Adjacent bus routes: Several CTA bus routes serve the Wrigley Field area, including:
- #8 Halsted
- #22 Clark
- #36 Broadway
- #80 Irving Park
- #151 Sheridan

Rate Field:
- San Diego Padres vs. White Sox – Fri. 9/19 at 6:40 p.m., Sat. 9/20 at 6:10 p.m. and Sun. 9/21 at 1:10 p.m.
Service:
- Red Line: Rate Field is just one block west of the Sox-35th station.
- Green Line: The 35th-Bronzeville-IIT station is just three blocks east of the ballpark.
- #35 31st/35th: The #35 route (which connects with Orange and Green lines) is the main bus route providing service to the stadium and operates during all game times.
- Adjacent bus routes: Several CTA bus routes serve the ballpark area, including:
- #1 Bronzeville/Union Station (during Monday – Friday rush periods only)
- #4 Cottage Grove
- #24 Wentworth (which runs Monday – Friday to 8:30 p.m.)
- #29 State
- #31 31st (which runs Monday – Friday to 7 p.m.)
- #39 Pershing (which connects with Orange and Green lines)
- #44 Wallace/Racine

Construction Work to Temporarily Impact Red Line Service
- Between 10 p.m. on Fri. 9/19 and 4 a.m. on Mon. 9/22, Howard-bound trains will not stop at the Addison station. (More details)
- For service to Addison station, take a Howard-bound train to Sheridan and transfer to a 95th-bound train.
- For service from this station, take a 95th-bound train to Belmont and transfer to a Howard-bound train.
- This service change is due to track and signal construction north of the Addison station as part of the Red and Purple Modernization (RPM) project.
- Between 10 p.m. on Fri. 9/19 and 4 a.m., Mon. 9/22, customers will experience boarding changes at the Sheridan station on the Red Line. (More details)
- Board/exit trains in both directions on the Howard-bound platform.
- Howard-bound trains will stop at their normal platform, but board/exit trains on the outer tracks instead of the inner tracks.
- 95th-bound trains will stop on the Howard-bound platform, on the inner tracks normally used by Howard-bound trains.
- Note: During this period, Howard-bound trains are bypassing Addison station -- see separate alert for details.
- This service change is due to track and signal construction north of the Addison station as part of the Red and Purple Modernization (RPM) project.
