Twenty-two downtown CTA bus routes will be rerouted temporarily due to the closure of Michigan Avenue between Ohio and Randolph for the filming of “Transformers 3.” The reroutes are in effect from 7 p.m., Thursday, July 15 until approximately 5 a.m. Monday, July 19.
CTA recommends that customers traveling in the Michigan Avenue corridor allow extra travel time. Generally, most northbound buses will move from Michigan to Dearborn and southbound to Clark. The Red Line offers a convenient, nearby alternative to bus service.
The specific reroutes are as follows:
Weekdays and Weekends
#3 King Drive – Northbound buses will travel over the regular route to Michigan/Madison then will operate via Madison, Dearborn, Ohio to Michigan and then resume the regular route.
Southbound buses will operate over the regular route to Michigan/Ontario then will operate via Ontario, Clark, Washington to Michigan and then resume the regular route.
#4 Cottage Grove – Northbound buses will travel over the regular route to Randolph/Columbus then will travel via Randolph to Field where buses will wait until time to begin the return trip south.
Southbound buses will leave from Randolph/Field then will operate via Randolph to Michigan and then resume the regular route.
#6 Jackson Park – Northbound buses will travel over the regular route to Michigan/Randolph then will travel via Randolph to Field where buses will wait until time to begin the return trip south.
Southbound buses will leave from Randolph/Field and will travel via Randolph to State and then resume the regular route.
#10 Museum of Science & Industry – Northbound buses will travel over the regular route to State/Lake, then will continue on State and operate via Wacker, Dearborn, Ohio to Michigan and then resume the regular route.
Southbound #10 buses will travel over the regular route to Michigan/Ontario then will operate via Ontario, Clark, Wacker to State then resume the regular route.
#20 Madison – Eastbound buses will travel over the regular route to Michigan/Randolph then will operate via Randolph to Field where buses will wait until time to begin the return trip west.
Westbound buses will leave from Randolph/Field then will operate via Randolph to Columbus and resume the regular route.
#124 Navy Pier – Eastbound buses will travel over the regular route to Wacker/Dearborn then will operate via Dearborn to Illinois past Columbus and resume the regular route.
Westbound buses will operate over the regular route to Grand/Columbus then will continue on Grand and operate via Grand, Clark, Wacker, State to Madison and resume the regular route.
#145 Wilson/Michigan Express – Northbound buses will travel over the regular route to State past Lake and then will operate via State, Wacker, Dearborn, Ohio to Michigan and then resume the regular route.
Southbound buses will travel over the regular route to Michigan/Ontario and then will operate via Ontario, Clark, Wacker, State to Washington and then resume the regular route.
#146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express – Northbound buses will travel over the regular route to State/Lake past Lake and then will operate via State, Wacker, Dearborn, Ohio to Michigan and then resume the regular route.
Southbound buses will travel over the regular route to Michigan/Ontario then will operate via Ontario, Clark, Wacker to State and then resume the regular route.
#147 Outer Drive Express – Northbound buses will travel over the regular route to State/Washington then will travel past Washington and operate via State, Wacker, Dearborn, Ohio to Michigan and then resume the regular route.
Southbound buses will travel over the regular route to Michigan/Ontario then will operate via Ontario, Clark, Wacker, State, Washington to Michigan and resume the regular route.
#151 Sheridan – Northbound buses will travel over the regular route to State/Washington then will travel past Washington and operate via State, Wacker, Dearborn, Ohio to Michigan and then resume the regular route.
Southbound buses will travel over the regular route to Michigan/Ontario then will operate via Ontario, Clark to Adams and then resume the regular route.

#157 Streeterville/Taylor – Eastbound buses will travel over the regular route to Washington/State then will operate via State, Wacker, Dearborn, Ohio to Michigan and then resume the regular route.
Westbound buses will travel over the regular route to Ontario/Michigan then will operate via Ontario, Clark, Wacker, State, Madison and then resume the regular route.
Weekday Rush Periods Only
#2 Hyde Park Express – Northbound buses will travel over the regular route to State/Lake then will proceed past Lake and operate via State, Wacker, Dearborn, Ohio then continue east on Ohio and resume the regular route.
Southbound #2 buses will travel over the regular route to Ontario/Michigan then will travel past Michigan and operate via Ontario, Clark, Wacker to State and resume the regular route.
#26 South Shore Express and #143 Stockton/Michigan Express – Northbound buses will travel over the regular route to Michigan/Madison then will operate via Madison, Dearborn, Ohio to Michigan and then resume the regular route.
Southbound buses will operate over the regular route to Michigan/Ontario then will operate via Ontario, Clark, Washington to Michigan and then resume the regular route.
#122 Illinois Center/Ogilvie Express and #123 Illinois Center/Union Express– Eastbound buses will travel over the regular route to Wacker/State then will continue on State and operate via State, Washington, Michigan, Randolph to Field where buses will wait until beginning the return trip westbound.
Westbound buses will leave from Randolph/Field then will operate via Randolph, State to Wacker and then resume the regular route.
#134 Stockton/LaSalle Express, #135 Clarendon/LaSalle Express and #136 Sheridan/LaSalle Express – Southbound buses will travel over the regular route to Wacker/Columbus then will continue on Columbus and operate via Columbus, Randolph, Dearborn to Wacker and then resume the regular route.
Northbound buses will leave from Wacker/Dearborn and operate via Dearborn, Illinois, Lower Lake Shore Drive to Lake Shore Drive and then resume the regular route.
#143 Stockton/Michigan Express – Northbound buses will travel over the regular route to Michigan/Madison then will operate via Madison, Dearborn, Ohio to Michigan and then resume the regular route.
Southbound buses will travel over the regular route to Michigan/Ontario then will operate via Ontario, Clark, Washington to Michigan and then resume the regular route.
#144 Marine/Michigan Express – Northbound buses will travel over the regular route to State/Lake then will continue past Lake and will operate via State, Wacker, Dearborn, Ohio to Michigan and then resume the regular route.
Southbound buses will travel over the regular route to Michigan/Ontario then will operate via Ontario, Clark, Wacker to State and then resume the regular route.
#148 Clarendon/Michigan Express – Northbound buses will travel over the regular route to State/Lake then will operate via State, Wacker, Dearborn, Ohio to Michigan and then resume the regular route.

#66 Chicago – Eastbound buses will travel over the regular route to Chicago/Fairbanks then will operate via Fairbanks, Columbus, South Water to Michigan and then resume the regular route. Westbound buses will travel the reverse route.
