Weekly Travel Advisory: CTA Customers Should Allow Extra Travel Time For Events and Planned Rail Work

May 29, 2026

CTA’s trains and buses are the easiest and most affordable way to get around Chicago this weekend for concerts, sporting events and Navy Pier fireworks.

CTA is a great way to move all around town. Customers can save money by purchasing an unlimited rides pass, either the 1-Day ($5) – far more economical and convenient than the price of gas and parking - or the 3-Day ($15) pass – a real budget-saving move.

Weekend Work

Weekend Work to Temporarily Impact Red Line Service

  • Between 10 p.m. Fri. 5/29 and 4 a.m. Mon. 6/1, Red Line subway trains will be rerouted to elevated tracks between the Cermak-Chinatown and Fullerton stations in both directions. (More details)
  • During this time, trains will not stop at the following subway stations: North/Clybourn, Clark/Division,  Chicago, Grand, Lake, Monroe, Jackson, Harrison or Roosevelt.
  • Customers should board and exit trains at nearby elevated stations along the Loop Elevated Brown, Green and Orange lines.
  • Free shuttle buses will operate between Fullerton and Clark/Lake stations in both directions.
  • This is the first of four weekends in which Red Line subway service will be impacted.
  • This service change is to allow crews to perform maintenance work to ensure trains continue to operate safely along the Red Line.

Weekend Work to Temporarily Impact Pink Line Service

  • Between 10 p.m. Fri. 5/29 and 4 a.m. Mon. 6/1, shuttle buses will replace Pink Line rail service between the Pulaski and 54th/Cermak stations. (More details)
  • Pink Line trains will operate between Pulaski and the Loop.
  • Alternate service through the affected area is available on the #21 Cermak route during normal hours of operation (regular bus fares apply).
  • Allow extra travel time.
  • This service change is due to crews performing railroad grade crossing maintenance work at Cicero Avenue to ensure Pink Line trains continue to operate safely.
