Weekend Maintenance Work to Temporarily Suspend Brown Line Service in the Loop

January 30, 2008
1/30/08

CTA maintenance crews will perform work on the Brown Line tracks along the Wells Street Bridge from 1 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, February 2. Brown Line trains will operate only between Kimball and the Merchandise Mart. Brown Line trains will not travel into the Loop during these hours. Normal Brown Line service will resume at 5 p.m. on Saturday, February 2.

CTA is encouraging southbound Brown Line customers to make the free transfer to the Red Line at Fullerton to complete their trips into the Loop.

CTA will provide a bus shuttle as a substitute for Brown Line rail service between the Merchandise Mart and Clark/Lake stations. At the Clark/Lake station, customers may board Pink Line trains on the inner track traveling clockwise around the Loop making all elevated station stops. CTA will also operate a Loop shuttle train as a substitute for Brown Line service in the Loop, operating on the outer track traveling counterclockwise, making all elevated station stops. Customers are asked to allow extra travel time.

The temporary suspension of Brown Line service along the Wells Street Bridge allows crews to perform maintenance that can only be done when trains are not operating.
