TIE REPLACEMENT ON FOREST PARK BRANCH WILL AFFECT NIGHT SERVICE ON BLUE LINE

March 13, 2000
03/13/00

Evening service on the Forest Park branch of the CTA's Blue Line will be affected by a tie replacement project weeknights from 9 p.m. until 4 a.m., starting Monday, March 20. Service on the Cermak branch will also be affected part of the time. The work is expected to continue through October.

Tie replacement will begin on an eastbound section of track from Morgan to the subway portal near Halsted. Later, the project will affect mainly the westbound track between Clinton and Pulaski. As the work proceeds on one segment of track at a time, trains will continue to operate on the other track, requiring one train to wait until another completes its trip in the opposite direction.

The work area will be divided into relatively short segments so no train has to wait long for another to use the single track. Single-track operation will be in effect alternately from LaSalle to Morgan, Morgan to Western, Western to Kedzie, and Kedzie to Pulaski.

CTA appreciates the understanding and patience of its customers, and suggests that they allow up to 15 minutes of additional time when traveling through the area weeknights from 9 p.m. until 4 a.m.
