Temporary Reroute of Red Line Subway Trains to Elevated Between Cermak-Chinatown and Fullerton

Northbound Red Line trains that normally operate through the subway between the Cermak-Chinatown station and the Fullerton station will be rerouted from the subway to the elevated tracks from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27, Wednesday, May 28 and Thursday, May 29.

Northbound Red Line trains will operate normally from 95th to Cermak-Chinatown, then reroute to the Roosevelt elevated station and proceed to the outer Loop track along Wabash and Lake. Entering the Loop, northbound Red Line trains will make their first stop at Adams/Wabash, then Madison/Wabash, Randolph/Wabash, State/Lake, Clark/Lake, Merchandise Mart, Chicago/Franklin, Sedgwick and Armitage. The Merchandise Mart station is available as an exit only (via stairway) from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m.

Customers who wish to travel northbound from downtown stations can access northbound Red Line trains at any of the elevated stations along Wabash or Lake streets. Customers who wish to travel northbound from the Grand, Chicago, Clark/Division or North/Clybourn Red Line stations can board a southbound train and exit at Lake to access northbound Red Line trains at the State/Lake elevated station.

Northbound customers who wish to exit at the Grand, Chicago, Clark/Division or North/Clybourn stations should travel to the Fullerton station and board a southbound Red Line train.

Customers are asked to allow extra travel time. Southbound Red Line service is not affected.
