CTA’s trains and buses are the best ways to get to various sporting events, concerts, and the Arts in the Dark Halloween Parade; Ventra to undergo an upgrade and weekend construction work to impact the Brown, Blue and Green Lines

Service for Upcoming Events

Open House Chicago

Citywide: Architectural, Cultural, and Historical Significant Locations - Sat. 10/18 and Sun. 10/19 at 10 a.m.

  • Multiple rail lines and bus routes will get you access to locations citywide.

Arts in the Dark Halloween Parade

State Street between Lake Street to Van Buren – Sat. 10/18 at 6 p.m.

Service:

  • Rail: All rail lines downtown will get you access to the parade and exit in the loop.
  • Bus: Multiple bus routes in the loop will be rerouted. Check out the alerts on our website for more information: https://www.transitchicago.com/alerts/

United Center Events

  • Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Chicago Bulls (Preseason) – Thu. 10/16 at 7 p.m.
  • Vancouver Canucks vs. Chicago Blackhawks – Fri. 10/17 at 7:30 p.m.
  • Brandy and Monica – Sat. 10/18 at 8 p.m.
  • Anaheim Ducks vs. Chicago Blackhawks – Sun. 10/19 at 6 p.m.
  • Adam Sandler – Mon. 10/20 at 7:30 p.m.
  • Tate McRae – Tue. 10/21 at 7:30 p.m.
  • Detroit Pistons vs. Chicago Bulls – Wed. 10/22 at 7 p.m.

Service:

  • Rail: Take the Green Line and exit at either the Damen or Ashland station from a Green or Pink line train.
  • Get to and from the following events via the #20 Madison and #50 Damen bus routes. Customers can also take the #19 United Center Express route post event.

Martin Stadium in Evanston

  • Purdue Boilermakers vs. Northwestern Wildcats – Sat. 10/8 at 2:00 p.m.

Service:

  • Rail: Take the Purple Line and exit at the Noyes and Central stations.

Soldier Field

  • New Orleans vs. Chicago Bears – Thu. 10/19 at 12 p.m.

Service:

  • Rail: The Red, Orange and Green lines provide the closest access to Soldier Field. Exit at the Roosevelt station.
  • Bus: Service on the #146 Inner Lake Shore/Michigan Express route.

Ventra System Upgrade

  • Between 11 p.m. Fri. 10/17 and 11 a.m. Sat. 10/18, Ventra will undergo a scheduled system upgrade. (More details)
  • During this time, all Ventra services will be unavailable, including ticket vending machines.
  • Customers will not need to tap a Ventra Card or contactless devices at rail station turnstiles or while boarding buses to ride — customers will be provided a courtesy ride.

Weekend Work to Temporarily Impact Brown Line Service

  • Between 10 p.m. Fri. 10/17 and 2:30 a.m. Mon. 10/20, the Western Brown Line station will be temporarily closed. (More details)
  • Customers should use the nearby Rockwell station.
  • A free bus shuttle will operate between the Western and Damen stations.
  • This service change is due to improvements as part of the Western Brown Line station modernization.

Weekend Work to Temporarily Impact Blue Line Service

  • Between 10 p.m. Fri. 10/17 and 4 a.m. Mon. 10/20, customers will board/exit all trains on the O’Hare-bound side of the platform at the LaSalle, Clinton, and UIC-Halsted stations. (More details)
  • Trains in both directions will operate on the same track between Jackson and Racine, resulting in minor delays.
  • This service change is due to construction at the Racine Blue Line station and Morgan substation.

Weekend Work to Temporarily Impact Green Line Service

  • Between 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sat. 10/18, customers will board/exit all trains on the Ashland/63rd- and Cottage Grove-bound platform at the Damen and California stations. (More details)
  • Trains in both directions will operate on the same track between Ashland and Kedzie, resulting in minor delays.
  • This service change is due to track maintenance work to ensure that trains continue to operate safely along the Green Line.
