Take CTA to Cheer on Cubs and White Sox

June 16, 2011
Cubs Visit White Sox in Interleague Play

CTA provides convenient and affordable bus and train service for baseball fans heading to the South Side for the Sox/Cubs series at U.S. Cellular Field. The games will be held on Monday, June 20, Tuesday, June 21 and Wednesday, June 22. Game time is 7:10 p.m. for all three games.

CTA staff will greet customers at the Red Line Sox-35th station prior to each game and distribute commemorative 2011 Crosstown Series posters to customers who use the Red Line to get to the game.  Posters will be handed out as long as supplies last.

In addition, limited edition farecards are being dispensed from farecard vending machines at all CTA rail stations for as long as supplies last.  Chicago artist Steve Musgrave designed the farecard and commemorative posters.

The Red Line provides direct service to the accessible Sox-35th station, just steps from the ballpark.  Red Line trains operate between Howard and 95th Street.  Free connections can be made from Purple and Yellow Line trains at Howard; and from all elevated lines serving the Loop or from Brown Line trains at Belmont and Fullerton.

In addition to the Red Line, the Green Line also provides a convenient travel option.  The accessible Green Line station at 35th-Bronzeville-IIT is a few blocks east of the park.  Fans can walk to the ballpark or transfer to #35 35th buses, which stop at the park.  Green Line trains operate on the South Side from 63rd/Ashland and East 63rd/Cottage Grove, and Lake and Harlem in Oak Park.  Orange Line customers can reach the ballpark via the 35th/Archer station, from which fans can walk to the ballpark, or transfer to the #35 35th or the #39 Pershing buses.

The #35 35th buses stop at 35th Street stations on the Green, Orange and Red Lines. The #39 diverts to the 35th Red Line Station and 35th/Archer Orange Line Station.

Through early evening, #24 Wentworth buses serve the stadium from Clark Street downtown, and from 79th via Vincennes, Wentworth and LaSalle.  #29 State buses that operate on State Street between the Red Line terminal at 95th Street and Navy Pier provide another nearby travel option.

Bus customers who use CTA fare media pay $2.00 to ride. For rail customers or customers who pay cash on the bus, the fare is $2.25. Customers who use CTA fare media may transfer for a 25 cent fee. Transfers are not available for customers paying fares in cash.
