Spring Into the Warmer Weather on the CTA, the Most Affordable Ride in Town

April 11, 2024

As the temperatures finally climb, CTA’s trains and buses are the best ways to get to various sporting events at United Center and Guaranteed Rate Field; Weekend construction work to temporarily impact the Red Line

Spring finally feels like it’s upon us and what better way to get out and about, to parks and events, than to hop on the CTA. Customers can save money by purchasing an unlimited rides pass, either the 1-Day ($5) – far more economical and convenient than the price of gas and parking - or the 3-Day ($15) pass – a real budget-saving move. See below for further details on impacts to Red Line service that are due to construction work for track and signal improvements, as part of the Red and Purple Modernization (RPM) project.

Service for Upcoming Events

United Center

Weekend Work to Temporarily Impact Red Line Service

  • Between 10 p.m., Fri. 4/12 and 4 a.m., Mon. 4/15, Howard-bound rail service between Thorndale and Jarvis stations will be suspended as track and signal improvements are made for the RPM project. (More details)
  • Shuttle buses will provide service toward Howard between Wilson and Howard, stopping along Broadway or Sheridan Road at the corner nearest the affected Red Line station. Transfer at Wilson from Howard-bound Red Line trains to the shuttle bus.
  • For service to these stations, take a Howard-bound train to Howard and transfer to a 95th-bound train.
  • For service from these stations, take a 95th-bound train to Argyle and transfer to a Howard-bound train.
