Southbound Red Line trains that normally operate through the subway will reroute to the elevated tracks overnight this week. Southbound service on the Red Line between the Fullerton station and the Cermak-Chinatown station will be rerouted from the subway to the elevated tracks from 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 29 until 5 a.m. Wednesday, May 30 and again in the same location and same hours on Wednesday, May 30, Thursday, May 31 and Friday, June 1 due to planned construction and maintenance work.
Southbound Red Line trains will operate normally between the Fullerton and Howard stations and between the 95th Street and Cermak/Chinatown stations. Northbound Red Line service is not affected.
Customers are asked to allow extra travel time.
Rerouted southbound trains will stop at the following elevated stations between Cermak/Chinatown and Fullerton: Sedgwick, Chicago/Franklin, Merchandise Mart, Clark/Lake, State/Lake, Randolph/Wabash, Madison/Wabash, Adams/Wabash and Roosevelt/Wabash. Please note, the Merchandise Mart station is available as an exit only (via stairway) on from 1 a.m. to
5 a.m.
Customers who wish to travel southbound from downtown stations can access southbound Red Line trains at any of the elevated stations along Wabash or Lake streets. Customers who wish to travel southbound from the Grand, Chicago, Clark/Division or North/Clybourn Red Line stations can board a northbound train and exit at Fullerton to board southbound Red Line trains on the southbound platform.
Southbound customers who wish to exit at the Grand, Chicago, Clark/Division or North/Clybourn stations should travel to the Roosevelt station and board a northbound Red Line train.
