Southbound Red Line Subway Trains to Temporarily Reroute to Elevated Tracks on Monday

From 9 p.m. Monday, October 13 until 5 a.m. Tuesday, October 14 southbound Red Line trains that normally operate through the subway between Fullerton and Cermak/Chinatown will reroute to the elevated tracks due to construction.

Rerouted southbound trains will stop at the following elevated stations between Fullerton and Cermak/Chinatown: Armitage, Sedgwick, Chicago/Franklin, Merchandise Mart, Clark/Lake, State/Lake, Randolph/Wabash, Madison/Wabash, Adams/Wabash and Roosevelt/Wabash.  The Merchandise Mart station is available as an exit only (via stairway) on from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m.

Customers who wish to travel southbound from downtown stations can access southbound Red Line trains at any of the elevated stations along Lake or Wabash streets. Customers who wish to travel southbound from the North/Clybourn, Clark/Division, Chicago or Grand Red Line stations can board a northbound train and exit at Fullerton to board southbound Red Line trains.

Customers traveling southbound to downtown should exit Red Line trains at any elevated station along Lake or Wabash.

Southbound customers who wish to exit at the North/Clybourn, Clark/Division, Chicago or Grand stations should travel to the State/Lake elevated station and exit to the Lake Street Red Line subway station to board a northbound Red Line train. Southbound customers are advised to allow extra travel time. 

Southbound Red Line trains will operate normally between the Howard and Fullerton stations and between the Cermak/Chinatown and 95th Street stations.  Northbound Red Line service is not affected.
