Slow Zone Prevention & Signal Work on Loop Elevated Continues

October 27, 2008

Brown, Green, Orange and Pink Line Trains Rerouted Through Loop

The CTA is performing slow zone prevention work this week on the Loop elevated tracks.  Crews are replacing track and rail ties, and installing a new signal and train control system at the Loop junction of Van Buren/Wabash (Tower 12) and Lake/Wells (Tower 18).  The new systems will help to improve the reliability of service by regulating train movement, speed and intervals.

The most intense work is scheduled on the Lake Street and Wabash Avenue tracks on weekends resulting in reroutes for Brown, Orange, Pink and Green Line trains, with some work scheduled on select weeknights.  The work for this phase of the project on the elevated lines is scheduled to continue through Thanksgiving 2008.
