SHUTTLE BUSES SERVING TWO STATIONS ON EAST 63RD BRANCH OF GREEN LINE DURING AFTERNOON RUSH PERIOD

December 13, 2000
12/13/00

Green Line customers using CTA's King Drive and Cottage Grove stations will be served by shuttle buses from the Garfield station during the afternoon rush period Wednesday due to the derailment of a train on the Green Line's southeast branch at 61st and Calumet earlier in the afternoon.

Only the first set of wheels on the first car of a four-car northbound train were derailed. Passengers were safely evacuated to another train. Owing to weather conditions, the affected train might not be moved until after the afternoon rush period.

During this period, regular Green Line service will operate on the rest of the route. All southbound trains will operate to the Ashland terminal at 63rd/Ashland. Green Line customers wishing to reach 63rd/King or 63rd/Cottage Grove should exit at Garfield, where they will be provided with bus shuttle service.

Southbound shuttle buses will operate east on Garfield, south on King Drive to 63rd and east on 63rd to Cottage Grove. Northbound buses will make the same trip in reverse.

The CTA apologizes for any inconvenience.
