Routing and Bus Stop Changes for Stage III of Wacker Drive Project
Effective at the start of service on Monday, January 9, 18 CTA bus routes that operate in the downtown area near Adams and Monroe streets at Wacker Drive will undergo service changes, as Stage III of the Wacker Drive construction project begins.
Construction work will require either new changes in service or buses maintaining detours currently in effect along the following routes. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time along these routes:

Concurrently, Madison Street at Wacker Drive will reopen allowing #19 United Center Express, #20 Madison, #56 Milwaukee and #122 Illinois Center/Ogilvie Express buses to return to their original routing.
CTA Information Specialists
To inform and prepare customers to the pending changes in service along the 18 affected routes, CTA information specialists will be available during peak travel periods on Thursday, January 5; Friday, January 6; Monday, January 9 and Tuesday, January 10, at multiple downtown locations including:

Reroutes and Bus Stop Changes
The following bus routes will undergo routing changes and/or bus stop changes as a result of the closure of Adams and Monroe streets at Wacker Drive:
#1 Indiana/Hyde Park Express
Northbound #1 Indiana/Hyde Park Express buses will be unable to travel along Adams Street between Franklin and Canal. Northbound #1 buses will instead operate via Adams, Franklin, Madison, Clinton, Canal to Union Station before beginning southbound service.
From Union Station, southbound #1 buses will continue south on Canal to Jackson and then resume the regular route.
Bus Stop Changes – Northbound #1 Buses Only
The following changes will be made to stops served by northbound #1 buses:
- Wacker/Adams: the westbound near side stop will be temporarily removed from service.
- Madison/Wacker: buses will serve the westbound far side stop.
- Madison/Canal: buses will serve the westbound near side stop.
- Clinton/Monroe: buses will serve the southbound near side stop.
#7 Harrison
Westbound #7 Harrison buses will be unable to travel along Adams Street between Franklin and Clinton and along Clinton Street between Adams and Van Buren; therefore, #7 buses will not directly serve Union Station. Westbound #7 buses will instead operate via Adams, Franklin, Van Buren to Clinton and then resume the regular route.
Eastbound #7 buses are unaffected and will continue to travel over the regular route.
Bus Stop Changes – Westbound #7 Buses Only
The following changes will be made to stops served by westbound #7 buses:
- Van Buren/Canal: buses will serve the westbound far side stop.
- Franklin/Jackson: buses will serve the new southbound near side stop.
- Adams/Wacker: the westbound near side stop will be temporarily removed form service.
- Adams/Canal: the westbound near side stop will be temporarily removed from service.
- Clinton/Quincy: the southbound near side stop will be temporarily removed from service.
- Clinton/Jackson: the southbound near side stop will be temporarily removed from service.
- Clinton/Van Buren: the southbound near side stop will be temporarily removed from service.
#14 Jeffery Express
With the reopening of Madison Street, northbound #14 Jeffery Express buses will return to the original routing and travel via Michigan, Madison to Jefferson before beginning southbound service.
Southbound #14 buses will be unable to travel along Clinton Street between Washington and Monroe and Monroe Street between Clinton and Franklin. Southbound #14 buses will instead depart from Washington/Jefferson and operate via Washington, Franklin to Monroe and then resume the regular route.
Bus Stop Changes – Northbound #14 Buses
The following changes will be made to stops served by northbound #14 buses:
- Madison/Clark: buses will resume serving the westbound near side stop.
- Madison/Wells: buses will resume serving the westbound far side stop.
- Madison/Wacker: buses will resume serving the westbound far side stop.
- Madison/Clinton: buses will resume serving the westbound near side stop.
- Jefferson/Washington: buses will resume serving the northbound near side stop.
- Westbound Stops on Randolph: the westbound stops along Randolph at Clark, Wells, Wacker, Canal and Jefferson will be removed from service.
Bus Stop Changes – Southbound #14 Buses
The following changes will be made to stops served by southbound #14 buses:
- Washington/Canal: buses will serve the eastbound near side stop.
- Washington/Franklin: buses will serve the eastbound near side stop.
- Monroe/Franklin: the eastbound near side stop will be temporarily removed from service. Buses will serve the new eastbound far side stop.
- Clinton/Madison: the southbound near side stop will be temporarily removed from service.
- Monroe/Canal: the eastbound far side stop will be temporarily removed from service.
#X28 Stony Island Express
Northbound #X28 Stony Island Express buses will be unable to travel along Adams Street between Franklin and Canal. Northbound buses will instead operate via Adams, Franklin, Madison, Clinton, Canal to Union Station before beginning southbound service.
From Union Station, southbound #X28 buses will continue south on Canal to Jackson then will resume the regular route east.
Bus Stop Changes – Northbound #X28 Buses Only
The following changes will be made to stops served by northbound #X28 buses:
- Madison/Wacker: buses will serve the westbound far side stop.
- Madison/Canal: buses will serve the westbound near side stop.
- Clinton/Monroe: buses will serve the southbound near side stop.
- Adams/Wacker: the westbound near side stop will be temporarily removed from service.
#60 Blue Island/26th
Westbound #60 Blue Island/26th buses will maintain the reroute currently in effect. Westbound #60 buses are travelling via Randolph, Clinton to Madison and then resuming the regular route.
Eastbound #60 buses are unaffected and will continue to travel over the regular route.
#120 Ogilvie/Wacker Express
Westbound #120 Ogilvie/Wacker Express buses will maintain the reroute currently in effect. Westbound #120 buses are travelling via Grand, Wabash, Wacker, Randolph to Canal before beginning eastbound service.
Eastbound #120 buses are unaffected and will continue to travel over the regular route.
#121 Union/Wacker Express
Westbound #121 Union/Wacker Express buses will be unable to travel on Franklin Street between Wacker and Adams and on Adams Street between Franklin and Clinton. Westbound #121 buses will instead operate via Wacker Drive, Randolph, Clinton to Jackson before beginning eastbound service.
Eastbound #121 buses are unaffected and will continue to travel over the regular route.
Bus Stop Changes – Westbound #121 Buses (AM Service) Only
The following changes will be made to stops served by westbound #121 buses during the morning (AM) rush period only:
- Adams/Wacker: the westbound near side stop will be temporarily removed from service during the morning rush period only.
#123 Illinois Center/Union Express
Westbound #123 Illinois Center/Union Express buses will be unable to travel on Franklin Street between Wacker and Adams and on Adams Street between Franklin and Clinton. Westbound #123 buses will instead operate via Wacker Drive, Randolph, Clinton to Jackson before beginning eastbound service.
Eastbound #123 buses will maintain the reroute currently in effect. Eastbound #123 buses are travelling via Jackson, Franklin to Wacker and then resuming the regular route.
Bus Stop Changes – Westbound #123 Buses
The following changes will be made to bus stops served by westbound #123 buses:
- Wacker/Wells: the temporary westbound near side stop will be removed from service.
- Wacker/Orleans-Franklin: buses will resume serving the westbound far side stop.
- Adams/Wacker: the westbound near side stop will be temporarily removed from service during the morning (AM) rush period only.
Bus Stop Changes – Eastbound #123 Buses
The following changes will be made to bus stops served by eastbound #123 buses:
- Franklin/Wacker: buses will serve the northbound mid-block stop on Franklin between Lake and Wacker.
- Wacker/Wells: the temporary eastbound near side stop will be removed from service.
#124 Navy Pier
Westbound #124 Navy Pier buses will maintain the reroute currently in effect. Westbound #124 buses are travelling via Michigan, Randolph, Clinton to Union Station before turning to begin eastbound service.
Eastbound #124 buses will return to original routing. From Union Station, #124 buses will travel via Canal, Washington to Wacker and continue over the regular route.
Bus Stop Changes – Eastbound #124 Buses
The following changes will be made to stops served by eastbound #124 buses:
- Wacker/Lake: buses will resume serving the northeast far side stop.
- Franklin between Lake and Wacker: the temporary northbound mid-block stop will be removed from service.
- Wacker/Wells: the temporary eastbound near side stop will be removed from service.
#126 Jackson
Westbound #126 Jackson buses will be unable to travel on Adams Street between Franklin and Clinton. Westbound #126 buses will instead operate via Adams, Franklin, Van Buren and then resume the regular route.
Eastbound #126 buses are unaffected and will continue to travel over the regular route.
Bus Stop Changes – Westbound #126 Buses Only
The following changes will be made to stops served by westbound #126 buses:
- Franklin/Jackson: buses will serve the new southbound near side stop.
- Van Buren/Canal: buses will serve the westbound far side stop.
- Adams/Wacker: the westbound near side stop will be temporarily removed from service.
- Adams/Canal: the westbound near side stop will be temporarily removed from service.
- Clinton/Quincy: the southbound near side stop will be temporarily removed from service.
- Clinton/Jackson: the southbound near side stop will be temporarily removed from service.
- Clinton/Van Buren: the southbound near side stop will be temporarily removed from service.
#129 West Loop/South Loop – PM Rush Service Only
During the evening (PM) rush period only, northbound #129 West Loop/South Loop buses will be unable to travel on Adams Street between Franklin and Canal and on Canal Street between Adams and Madison. Northbound #129 buses will instead operate via Adams, Franklin, Madison to the Ogilvie Transportation Center before beginning southbound service.
Southbound #129 buses operating during the evening rush period are unaffected and will continue to travel over the regular route.
Bus Stop Changes – Northbound #129 (PM Service) Only
The following changes will be made to stops served by southbound #129 buses during the evening rush period only:
- Madison/Wacker: buses will serve the westbound far side stop.
- Canal/Madison: buses will resume serving the northbound far side stop.
- Adams/Wacker: the westbound near side stop will be temporarily removed from service.
- Adams/Canal: the westbound near side stop will be temporarily removed from service.
#130 Museum Campus
(Operates Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day)
Westbound #130 Museum Campus buses will be unable to travel on Adams Street between Franklin and Canal and on Canal Street between Adams and Madison. Westbound #130 buses will instead operate via Adams, Franklin, Madison to Canal and then resume the regular route.
Eastbound #130 buses are unaffected and will continue to travel over the regular route.
Bus Stop Changes – Westbound #130 Buses Only
The following changes will be made to bus stop served by westbound #130 buses:
- Madison/Wacker: buses will serve the westbound far side stop.
- Canal/Madison: buses will resume serving the northbound far side stop.
- Adams/Wacker: the westbound near side stop will be temporarily removed from service.
- Adams/Canal: the westbound near side stop will be temporarily removed from service.
#134 Stockton/LaSalle Express
Southbound #134 Stockton/LaSalle Express buses will operate only to Adams/Wells and serve the westbound far side stop.
Northbound #134 buses are unaffected and will continue to travel over the regular route.

The following bus stop change will be made affecting southbound #134 buses:
- Adams/Wacker: the westbound near side stop will be temporarily removed from service. Customers will need to exit southbound #134 buses at the westbound far side stop at Adams/Wells.
#135 Clarendon/LaSalle Express
Southbound #135 Clarendon/LaSalle Express buses will operate only to Adams/Wells and serve the westbound far side stop.
Northbound #135 buses are unaffected and will continue to travel over the regular route.

The following bus stop change will be made affecting southbound #135 buses:
- Adams/Wacker: the westbound near side stop will be temporarily removed from service. Customers will need to exit southbound #135 buses at the westbound far side stop at Adams/Wells.
#136 Sheridan/LaSalle Express
Southbound #136 Sheridan/LaSalle Express buses will operate only to Adams/Wells and serve the westbound far side stop.
Northbound #136 buses are unaffected and will continue to travel over the regular route.

The following bus stop change will be made affecting southbound #136 buses:
- Adams/Wacker: the westbound near side stop will be temporarily removed from service. Customers will need to exit southbound #136 buses at the westbound far side stop at Adams/Wells.
#151 Sheridan
Southbound #151 Sheridan buses will be unable to travel on Adams Street between Franklin and Canal. Southbound #151 buses will instead operate over the regular route along Michigan to Madison then will be detoured to travel via Madison, Clinton to Canal where they will serve Union Station before beginning northbound service.
Northbound #151 buses are unaffected and will continue to travel over the regular route.
Bus Stop Changes – Southbound #151 Buses Only
The following changes will be made to bus stops served by southbound #151 buses:
- Madison/Wabash: buses will serve the westbound near side stop.
- Madison/State: buses will serve the westbound far side stop.
- Madison/Clark: buses will serve the westbound near side stop.
- Madison/Wells: buses will serve the westbound far side stop.
- Madison/Wacker: buses will serve the westbound far side stop.

#156 LaSalle
Southbound #156 LaSalle buses will be unable to travel on Adams Street between Franklin and Desplaines. Southbound #156 buses will instead operate over the regular route along LaSalle to Adams then will be detoured to travel via Adams, Franklin, Van Buren to Desplaines and then resume the regular route.
Northbound #156 buses are not affected and will continue to travel over the regular route.
Bus Stop Changes – Southbound #156 Buses Only
The following changes will be made to bus stops served by southbound #156 buses:
- Franklin/Jackson: buses will serve the new southbound near side stop.
- Van Buren/Canal: buses will serve the westbound far side stop.

Eastbound #157 buses are unaffected and will continue to travel over the regular route.
Restoration of Service
With the reopening of Madison Street at Wacker Drive, the following bus routes will resume normal routing:
#19 United Center Express
Westbound #19 United Center Express buses will resume normal routing travelling via Madison, Jefferson to Randolph and over the regular route.
Eastbound #19 buses are unaffected and will continue to travel over the regular route.
Bus Stop Changes – Westbound #19 Buses Only
The following changes will be made to stops served by westbound #19 buses:
- Madison/Wacker: buses will resume serving the westbound far side stop.
- Madison/Clinton: buses will resume serving the westbound near side stop.
- Westbound Stops on Randolph: the temporary westbound stops along Randolph Street at Wacker, Canal and Jefferson will be removed from service.
#20 Madison
Westbound #20 Madison buses will resume normal routing travelling west on Madison over the regular route.
Eastbound #20 buses are unaffected and will continue to travel over the regular route.

- Madison/Wells: buses will resume serving the westbound far side stop.
- Madison/Wacker: buses will resume serving the westbound far side stop.

- Jefferson/Washington: buses will resume serving the northbound near side stop.

#122 Illinois Center/Ogilvie Express
Eastbound #122 Illinois Center/Ogilvie Express buses will resume normal routing. From the Ogilvie Transportation Center, eastbound #122 buses will travel via Canal, Washington to Wacker Drive and over the regular route.
Westbound #122 buses are unaffected and will continue to travel over the regular route.
Bus Stop Changes – #122 Eastbound Buses
The following changes will be made to stops served by eastbound #122 buses:
- Wacker/Lake: buses will resume serving the northeast far side stop.
- Franklin/Wacker: the temporary northbound mid-block stop on Franklin Street between Lake and Wacker will be removed from service.
- Wacker/Wells: the temporary eastbound near side stop will be removed from service.
Bus Stop Changes – #122 Westbound Buses
The following changes will be made to stops served by westbound #122 buses:
- Wacker/Wells: the temporary westbound near side stop will be removed from service.
