Ring In the New Year with Penny Rides on CTA

December 15, 2010

With the holiday celebrations fast approaching, CTA recommends revelers be ‘penny-wise’ and take advantage of penny rides on CTA buses and trains to ring in the New Year.

The annual tradition continues beginning late in the evening on Friday, December 31 through the early morning hours on New Year’s Day, Saturday, January 1.

“Penny rides are our way of encouraging people to leave their cars at home and let the CTA be their designated driver over the New Year’s holiday,” said CTA President Richard L. Rodriguez. “The CTA is continuing a 25-year tradition of ringing in the new year with our penny ride service.”

Taking the CTA not only makes travel safer for those riding, but also reduces traffic congestion by keeping more drivers off the road.

Specific service details for New Year’s Eve will be provided in the upcoming weeks via CTA’s web site at www.transitchicago.com; via email at ctahelp@transitchicago.com or by calling 1-888-YOUR-CTA.
