The Chicago Transit Authority will continue its tradition of offering penny rides on New Year's Eve. Riding CTA buses and trains will cost only a penny from 8 p.m. New Year's Eve Friday, December 31, until 6 a.m. New Year's Day Saturday, January 1.
People celebrating New Year's Eve, whether as employees working at Navy Pier and other events or those out enjoying the holiday, can count on CTA to get them home safely and at later hours.
Additionally, several bus and rail routes will provide later service, making CTA an even more convenient, safe and affordable option for New Year's Eve revelers.
Bus Service
#6 Jackson Park Express buses will operate southbound from downtown until 3 a.m. The last northbound trip will leave 79th/South Shore Drive to downtown at 2:06 a.m.
#29 State buses will operate southbound from Navy Pier to 95th and the Dan Ryan until 3 a.m. The last northbound bus to Navy Pier will leave 95th at 11:30 p.m.
#65 Grand buses will operate westbound from Navy Pier to Grand/Nordica until 3 a.m. The last eastbound bus to Navy Pier will leave Grand/Nordica at 1 a.m.
#66 Chicago buses will operate westbound from Navy Pier to Chicago/Austin Avenue until 3 a.m. The last eastbound bus from Austin Avenue to Navy Pier will leave at 11:30 p.m. Regular Night Owl service will operate between State/Washington and Chicago/Pulaski.
#124 Navy Pier buses will operate southbound from Navy Pier to the Randolph Street Station, Ogilvie Transportation Center and Union Station until 1:30 a.m. The last northbound trip to Navy Pier from Union Station will be at 12:30 a.m.
#151 Sheridan buses will operate northbound every 7 to 15 minutes from Union Station to the Berwyn Red Line station from 12:09 a.m. until 5:55 a.m. Southbound buses will operate every 7 to 15 minutes from Foster/Sheridan to Union Station from 11:16 p.m. until 5:13 a.m.
Rail Service
The last trip on all Brown, Orange and Green Line trains will leave downtown at 1:30 a.m.
Brown Line trains will operate between Belmont and Kimball until 2:25 a.m.
Purple and Yellow Line trains will operate until 2:20 a.m. from Howard to Linden and Dempster, respectively.
Blue Line trains on the Cermak (Douglas) branch will operate from downtown until 1:30 a.m.
Red Line trains and Forest Park-O'Hare Blue Line trains operate 24 hours daily.
