Northbound Red Line Subway Trains to Temporarily Reroute to Elevated Tracks for Slow Zone Work

From 9 p.m. Monday, September 29 until 5 a.m. Tuesday, September 30, northbound Red Line trains that normally operate through the subway between the Cermak/Chinatown and Fullerton stations will reroute to the elevated tracks.

Northbound Red Line trains will operate normally between the Fullerton and Howard stations and between the 95th Street and Cermak/Chinatown stations. Customers are asked to allow extra travel time.

Southbound Red Line service is not affected.

Rerouted northbound trains will stop at the following elevated stations between Cermak/Chinatown and Fullerton: Roosevelt/Wabash, Adams/Wabash, Madison/Wabash, Randolph/Wabash, State/Lake, Clark/Lake, Merchandise Mart, Chicago/Franklin, Sedgwick and Armitage. At Fullerton, trains will resume regular routing. Please note: the Merchandise Mart station is available as an exit only (via stairway) on from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m.

Customers who wish to travel northbound from downtown stations can access northbound Red Line trains at any of the elevated stations along Wabash or Lake streets. Customers who wish to travel northbound from the Grand, Chicago, Clark/Division or North/Clybourn Red Line stations can board a southbound train and exit at Lake to access northbound Red Line stains at the State/Lake elevated station.

Northbound customers who wish to exit at the Grand, Chicago, Clark/Division or North/Clybourn stations should travel to the Fullerton station and board a southbound Red Line train.
