For Informational Purposes Only

The Chicago Transit Authority and the James R. Thompson Center, along with appropriate law enforcement and emergency response agencies, will be conducting an emergency preparedness exercise on Saturday morning November 16, 2002.

The purpose of the exercise is to evaluate communication and coordination among multiple agencies during an emergency. The exercise will primarily test participants' adherence to the appropriate emergency notification and response procedures. Emergency response vehicles may be seen around the Thompson Center as part of the drill, their participation is for simulation purposes only.

CTA elevated and subway train stations at Clark/Lake will remain open and rail service will not be affected. During the exercise, however, customers entering or exiting the station may be directed to alternate entrances or exits. As is the normal practice on weekends, access to the office portion of the Thompson Center will be limited to employees with appropriate identification.

If you have questions regarding the above information, on Friday, November 15 please call Media Relations at the CTA at 312-222-6106. For questions on Saturday, November 16 please page either Noelle Gaffney at 312-272-0228, or Sheila Gregory at 312-272-0263.
