CTA’s trains and buses are the best ways to get to the Chicago Air and Water Show and games for Crosstown Classic and Chicago Bears; planned Green Linework to temporarily impact service
From high-flying action along the lakefront to a classic baseball rivalry, CTA is the most convenient and affordable way to get around the Chicago area. Customers can save money by purchasing an unlimited rides pass, either the 1-Day ($5) – far more economical and convenient than the price of gas and parking - or the 3-Day ($15) pass – a real budget-saving move.
Service for Upcoming Events
The 2026 Chicago Air and Water Show
North Avenue Beach – Sat. 8/15 and Sun. 8/16 from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Service:
- Rail: The Red and Brown Lines provide the closest access to the event area. Customers can exit North/Clybourn station on the Red Line and the Sedgwick station on the Brown Line.
- Bus: The #22 Clark, #36 Broadway, #72 North Avenue and #151 Sheridan routes provide service to the event. During the event, these routes will be rerouted and will have adjusted boarding locations. The #72 North Avenue will board westbound at the North Avenue terminal at Clark, while customers can board the #22 Clark, #36 Broadway and #151 Sheridan on LaSalle/North, northbound and southbound.

Service for Wrigley Field
- Cardinals vs. Chicago Cubs – Fri. 8/14 and Sat. 8/15 at 1:20 p.m. and Sun. 8/16 at 2:10 p.m.
- (Crosstown Classic) White Sox vs. Chicago Cubs – Mon. 8/17, Tue. 8/18 at 7:05 p.m. and Wed. 8/19 at 1:20 p.m.
Service:
- Red Line: The Addison station is located just half a block east of Wrigley Field.
- Purple Line: Before weeknight events only, Loop-bound Purple Line Express trains will stop at the Sheridan station.
- Yellow Line: Take the Yellow Line and transfer at Howard to the Red Line; continue to Addison station. To accommodate fans returning home, the Yellow Line will run for an hour later from Howard – until midnight – for all night games at Wrigley Field.
- #152 Addison: The #152 route will provide additional service on Cubs game days, with more frequent service two hours before and one hour after all games.
- Adjacent bus routes: Several CTA bus routes serve the Wrigley Field area, including:
- #8 Halsted
- #22 Clark
- #36 Broadway
- #80 Irving Park
- #151 Sheridan

Taylor Street Little Italy Festival
Little Italy, Taylor Street between Ashland to Racine – Thu. 8/13 and Fri. 8/14 at 5 p.m., Sat. 8/15 and Sun. 8/16 at 12 p.m.
Service:
- Rail: Take the Blue Line and exit at the Racine station. Take the Pink Line and exit at the Polk station.
- Bus: Several CTA routes will provide the closest service to the festival including the following:
- #7 Harrison
- #9 Ashland
- #12 Roosevelt
- #60 Blue Island/26th
- #157 Streeterville/Taylor - The #157 route will be rerouted in the area but still provides service nearby. (See more)

Soldier Field
- Browns vs. Chicago Bears (Preseason Football) – Sat. 8/15 at 12:00 p.m.
- Timbers vs. Chicago Fire – Sun. 8/16 at 5:30 p.m.
Service:
- Rail: The Red, Orange and Green lines provide the closest access to Soldier Field. Exit at Roosevelt station.
- Bus: Service on the #146 Inner Lake Shore/Michigan Express route.

Rate Field:
- Reds vs. White Sox – Thu. 8/13 at 1:10 p.m.
Service:
- Red Line: Rate Field is just one block west of the Sox-35th station.
- Green Line: The 35th-Bronzeville-IIT station is just three blocks east of the ballpark.
- #35 31st/35th: The #35 route (which connects with Orange and Green lines) is the main bus route providing service to the stadium and operates during all game times.
- Adjacent bus routes: Several CTA bus routes serve the ballpark area, including:
- #1 Bronzeville/Union Station (during Monday – Friday rush periods only)
- #4 Cottage Grove
- #24 Wentworth (which runs Monday – Friday to 8:30 p.m.)
- #29 State
- #31 31st (which runs Monday – Friday to 7 p.m.)
- #39 Pershing (which connects with Orange and Green lines)
- #44 Wallace/Racine

Beach Service
The last day for weekday beach service is Fri. 8/15.
Weekend beach service will run through Labor Day weekend operating directly to Chicago’s beaches on the following bus routes:
Buses will operate to/from beaches between approximately 9 a.m. and 9:30 p.m.
Navy Pier Fireworks
Service on the #29 State, #65 Grand, #66 Chicago and #124 Navy Pier routes.
- Sat. 8/ 15 at 10 p.m.
- Wed. 8/19 at 9 p.m.
Weekend Work to Temporarily Impact Green Line Service
- Between 4:30 a.m. Sat. 8/15 through 4 a.m. Monday, 8/17, shuttle buses will replace Green Line service between Garfield and Cottage Grove stations. (More details)
- Green Line trains will operate between Harlem/Lake and Ashland/63rd only.
- Customers traveling to/from King Drive and Cottage Grove should transfer between Green Line trains and shuttle buses at Garfield station.
- Customers should allow extra travel time.
- These service changes are due to track maintenance to ensure that trains continue to operate safely along the Green Line.
