Due to a programming error by the manufacturer, a small number of Chicago Cards are failing to deduct the fare from the card when used.
Customers that have registered their Chicago Cards have been notified that their cards are being deactivated and have been sent replacement cards with the same stored balance as the defective cards.
Below is a list of serial numbers for defective Chicago Cards that have not been registered. These cards will be deactivated on May 23.
Please check to see if your Chicago Card's serial number, located on the back of the card, is included on this list.
If it is, please contact CTA Customer Service at 1-888-YOUR-CTA (1-888-968-7282) to have a replacement card sent to you.
