CTA’s trains and buses can get you to various events around Chicagoland; Construction work to temporarily impact the Red and Yellow Lines
CTA can get you to school, work or any other gatherings you’d like to attend, reliably and affordably. Customers can save money by purchasing an unlimited rides pass, either the 1-Day ($5) – far more economical and convenient than the price of gas and parking - or the 3-Day ($15) pass – a real budget-saving move.

Impacted Bus routes: #4 Cottage Grove, #111A Pullman Shuttle, #115 Pullman/115th
Fri. 3/6 at 7am to TBD
In the area between 111th/Cottage Grove and 115th/Cottage Grove, temporary street closures may occur due to events leading up to, during and following the funeral service for Rev. Jesse L. Jackson. (More details)
CTA bus routes—particularly ones that operate on 115th and on Cottage Grove may be affected by either a temporary reroute or they may need to end their trips short of their normal route. Prepare for possible delays on all routes listed above. Allow extra travel time.

- Konstantinos Argiros – Sat. 3/7 at 8 p.m.
- Utah Mammoth – Mon. 3/9 at 7:30 p.m.
- Big Ten Men's Basketball Tournament –
- Tue. 3/10 - Game 1 at 4 p.m., Game 2 is 25 minutes after Game 1
- Wed. 3/11 Game 3 at 11 a.m., Game 4 is 25 minutes after Game 1
*Please note there will be no service on the #19 route after Game 3 and 4.
- Wed. 3/11 Game 5 at 5:30 p.m., Game 6 is 25 minutes after Game 1
Service:
- Rail: Take the Green Line and exit at the new Damen station or exit at the Ashland station from either a Green or Pink line train.
- Get to and from these events via the #20 Madison and #50 Damen bus routes. Customers can also take the #19 United Center Express route post event.
Red Line Service - Subway Trains Rerouted to Elevated Tracks
- Between 10 p.m., Fri. 3/6, and 4 a.m. Mon. 3/9, Red Line subway trains will be rerouted to the elevated tracks between Cermak-Chinatown and Fullerton in both directions. (More details)
- This service change is due to maintenance to ensure trains continue to operate safely along the Red Line.
- Trains will not stop at subway stations (see map at link above).
- From North/Clybourn station: Walk 1/2 mile north to Armitage and 1/4 mile west to Armitage Brown Line station for Red Line trains.
- From Clark/Division station: Consider using #22 Clark bus south to Clark/Lake for Red Line trains (board on elevated platforms).
- From Chicago station: Use #66 Chicago bus west to Chicago Brown Line station (at Franklin) for Red Line trains.
- From Grand station: Walk approx. 1/2 mi west to Merchandise Mart Brown Line station*, for Red Line trains.
- Downtown: Board/exit trains at any Lake or Wabash Loop Elevated station.
- Roosevelt station: Board/exit trains on Green/Orange lines elevated platform.
- For faster travel times, use the recommended CTA alternate service listed above. However, if needed, a free bus shuttle will operate approximately every 7.5 to 15 minutes between Fullerton and Clark/Lake in both directions.
- *Entry/exit at Merchandise Mart station is via the Kinzie auxiliary entrance stairways, and requires a farecard (no vending machines), during overnight hours. To make step-free transfers to Red Line trains during this time, use shuttle buses to connect with Clark/Lake or Fullerton.
Weekend Work to Temporarily Impact Yellow Line Service
- On the Yellow Line rail service between Dempster-Skokie and Howard stations will be temporarily suspended on the following dates:
- Shuttle buses replace rail service between Dempster-Skokie and Howard in both directions.
- Trains will not operate between Dempster-Skokie and Howard.
- The shuttle buses will serve Dempster-Skokie, Oakton-Skokie, and Howard stations.
- This service change is due to utility work near our tracks.
