The Chicago Transit Authority announced today that it can safely resume service on the Green and Orange lines between Roosevelt Road and the Loop. At 8 p.m., service will resume and trains in both directions will operate along their regular routes.

Orange and Green line service was suspended on Tuesday, October 24 when a major fire erupted and destroyed a building adjacent to the elevated tracks.

During the suspension of service, CTA provided information to customers through additional CTA staff deployed at stations and along bus routes throughout the Loop to assist and advise customers on alternative service; through announcements made on buses, trains and station platforms; through customer alerts posted in stations, on buses and on the CTA web site and through information provided to the media.

Although service was suspended between the Loop and Roosevelt Road, Green Line service continued to operate between Harlem station in Oak Park and the Loop as well as between south terminals and Roosevelt; and Orange Line trains continued to operate between Midway and Roosevelt station.
