Both of Chicago's baseball teams will wind down their home seasons this week. The Cubs will host the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday, September 24 and Wednesday, September 25. Both games will start at 7:05 p.m. The Cubs wrap up their home season against the Pittsburgh Pirates Sunday, September 29.
The White Sox also will begin their final home stand of the season with their last two night games against the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday, September 24 and Wednesday, September 25. Both games begin at 7:05 p.m.
With both Chicago baseball teams playing at home those nights, the CTA anticipates a heavy volume of customers on its Red Line trains, which serve both Wrigley Field and Comiskey Park. Longer Red Line trains will operate as necessary.
Customers can connect to Red Line trains from all other 'L' lines and most east-west bus routes. For Cubs fans, trains take only 15 to 17 minutes to reach Addison from stations in the State Street subway downtown. Travel time is about the same from Howard, where fans can connect from the Purple or Yellow Lines. In order to accommodate fans attending the final two Cubs night games, later service will be provided on the Yellow Line.
Besides the Red Line, Wrigley Field is also served by accessible #22 Clark buses that operate north through the Loop on Dearborn and south on Clark from Howard, and by #152 Addison buses that run east and west on Addison. For weekday night games, #154 Wrigley Field Express buses will provide direct service to Wrigley Field from parking lots just west of Western and south of Addison, beginning two hours before each game.
For White Sox fans, the trip from the State Street subway downtown to Sox-35th takes only about 10 to 12 minutes, and from 95th, around 18 minutes.
Comiskey Park is also served by accessible #35 35th buses, which connect with accessible stations on both the Green and Orange Lines. On weekdays through early evening, #24 Wentworth buses serve the park from Clark Street downtown, and from 79th via Vincennes, Wentworth and LaSalle.
