EXTRA CTA PURPLE LINE SERVICE FOR WILDCATS FOOTBALL GAME THURSDAY

August 30, 2000
08/30/00

CTA's Purple Line will once again lead the way to Ryan field in Evanston for another season of Northwestern University football, starting with the opening game at 7 p.m. Thursday, August 31, between the Wildcats and the Northern Illinois Huskies.

CTA's Central Street 'L' station is just a long pass away from Northwestern's Ryan Field at Central and Ashland. The Purple Line extends from Linden Avenue in Wilmette to Howard Street at the Chicago city limits, where customers can connect with bus lines or Red Line trains that provide service from stations in the State Street subway downtown. During weekday rush periods, Purple Line Express trains serve Evanston directly from stations on the Loop 'L' downtown.

To serve football fans attending all Wildcats games, the Purple Line will operate with longer trains than usual until the last fans start their trips home from the Central Street station. Extra Customer Assistants will be on hand at Central Street to help fans returning to trains after each game.

To make their trips back to Purple Line trains and other CTA service as speedy as possible, customers are urged to purchaseTransit Cards on their way to the game that will have sufficient value to allow for return trips afterward.

For details about all CTA service, call 836-7000 (all local area codes).
