August 22, 2002
8/22/02

Extra CTA buses will be available for visitors attending the 14th Annual Viva Chicago Latin Music Festival in Grant Park Saturday and Sunday, August 24-25. Performances both days will be from 11 a.m. until 9:30 p.m., mainly in the Petrillo Music Shell just east of Michigan at Jackson and Columbus Drives.

Buses on several CTA routes make downtown stops within easy walking distance of Jackson and Columbus, either on Michigan or nearby on State Street. These include #145 Wilson/Michigan Express, #146 Marine/Michigan Express and #151 Sheridan buses from the North Side; #60 Blue Island/26th and #126 Jackson buses from the West Side, and #3 King Drive, #4 Cottage Grove and #6 Jeffery Express buses from the South Side.

Festivalgoers also can reach activities from subway stations at Jackson for the Red Line at State Street and the Blue Line at Dearborn. Orange Line riders arriving downtown can use the Library-State/Van Buren 'L' station, while those returning to the Southwest Side can board at Adams/Wabash, where Brown and Green Line trains also stop throughout the day and evening.

As the Viva Chicago Festival winds down, extra #60 Blue Island/26th buses will await riders on Adams westbound at Wabash, and other regular service will be available throughout the downtown area.
