Extra CTA buses will serve the 16th Annual Chicago Gospel Music Festival Friday, June 2, through Sunday, June 4 in Grant Park. Evening performances will be held at the Petrillo Music Shell, on Jackson at Columbus Drives, all three evenings.
To accommodate festivalgoers, #6 Jeffery Express buses will continue operating from downtown until 10:30 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday, or about 3? hours later than usual. Weekday service already operates until 10:30 p.m. From 7 until 10:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, #6 buses heading south from the terminal at Columbus and South Water will run about every 15 minutes.
Under a six-month experimental plan starting Sunday, June 25, #6 Jeffery Express buses will operate downtown every night until 12:30 a.m. Buses will also start trips north from 103rd Street earlier each morning, with weekday service beginning at 3:45 a.m., and weekend/holiday service starting at 5 a.m. Expanded hours for #6 Jeffery Express buses are among several service improvements being implemented by CTA in response to changing demands and growing ridership.
#6 Jeffery Express buses operate south through the Loop on State from Wacker to Congress before going east to Michigan and south to Balbo. At Balbo, the buses enter Grant Park for express trips south to 47th , where they begin making local stops along the regular route to 103rd.
