Extra service will be available on the #18 16th/18th, #21 Cermak and #60 Blue Island/26th routes for visitors to the Fiesta Del Sol Festival Thursday, July 27, through Sunday, July 30. The festival will be held on Cermak between Morgan (1000 West) and Throop (1300 West). In addition, X21 Cermak Express buses will make special stops for the festival on Saturday and Sunday.
Festival hours are from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. Thursday, 5 to 11 p.m. on Friday, 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. Saturday, and from 11 till 10 p.m. on Sunday. Buses will be detoured around the festival site from around 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 26, until the street reopens at about noon on Monday, July 31.
#21 Cermak buses and X21 Cermak Express buses will be detoured off Cermak via Morgan, 18th and Throop back to Cermak in both directions. X21 Cermak Express buses, which operate on weekends only, will stop for Fiesta Del Sol on Throop at Cermak, on 18th at Racine, and on Cermak at Morgan.
To serve festival visitors, buses on the #18 16th/18th route will continue operating east and west on 18th until an hour after the festival closes each night.
Toward the end of each evening's activities also, extra buses on both the #18 and the #21 Cermak local route will await riders westbound on 18th at Racine for trips west to their regular destinations.
Customers taking CTA's #60 Blue Island/26th buses to the festival will be encouraged to alight at Cermak and Laflin (1500 West) and walk east to Throop. As festival activities wind down each evening, extra buses on the #60 route will await riders southbound on Laflin at Cermak for trips west via Cermak, Blue Island and 26th to Cicero at 24th Place.
