Buses on CTA's #50 Damen route will be detoured off Damen at Blue Island Avenue, starting Saturday, March 4, and continuing through the end of next year, for road work involving the Stevenson Expressway and the viaduct serving the Damen Avenue bridge across the south branch of the Chicago River.
#50 Damen buses regularly operate from the 35th/Archer Orange Line station via Archer to Damen, and north on Damen to Foster. At Foster, buses go east to Ashland and north to Edgewater (5732 North), where they end their trips.
While road work continues, buses heading north from the 35th/Archer station will operate southwest on Archer to Western, go north on Western to Blue Island, and northeast on Blue Island back to Damen. To accommodate #50 Damen customers, buses will make all regular stops along the detoured routing.
Southbound buses will be detoured off Damen at Blue Island, go southwest to Western, and south to 35th. At 35th, the buses will go east to Leavitt and south to the bus terminal at the 35th/Archer station.
Customers along the south end of the #50 route are urged to allow extra travel time to complete their trips.
