Rail Reconstruction Closes Cicero at 16th Starting Friday, October 11Reconstruction of a railway grade crossing will close Cicero at 16th from 9 a.m. Friday, October 11 until 6 a.m. Saturday, October 19. #54 Cicero buses will be detoured in both directions via Roosevelt, Kostner and Cermak back to Cicero.
Columbus Closes at Balbo Friday Morning for Weekend EventsColumbus Drive will be closed between Balbo and Roosevelt from 10 a.m. Friday, October 11 until 5 p.m. Monday, October 14 in preparation for the LaSalle Bank's Chicago Marathon on Sunday and the Columbus Day Parade Monday.Buses that regularly use Columbus will operate on Michigan between Balbo and Roosevelt in both directions, including the #2 Hyde Park Express, #6 Jeffery Express, #10 Museum of Science & Industry, #14 South Lake Shore Express, #127 North Western/Madison and #146 Marine/Michigan Express.
Pedway Work Closes Addison West of Central Late Friday through SundayWork on a pedestrian bridge will close Addison between Central and Parkside from 7 p.m. Friday, October 11 until 7 p.m. Sunday, October 13. #152 Addison buses will be detoured in both directions via Central, Irving Park and Austin back to Addison.
Cleaning Affects Red Line Subway Overnight Friday and SaturdaySewer cleaning in the State Street subway will require Red Line trains to use a single track between Grand and Clark/Division from 11 p.m. Friday, October 11 until 5 a.m. Saturday, October 12 and from 11 p.m. Saturday until 6 a.m. Sunday. The work will affect trains serving stations at Clark/Division, Chicago and Grand.
Weekend Construction Closes California and Central Park from 19th to 21stConstruction work will close California and Central Park between 19th and 21st from 12:01 a.m. Saturday, October 12 until 5 a.m. Monday, October 14. Buses in both directions on the #94 South California route will be detoured via Cermak, Marshall, Sacramento and Ogden to California. The detour off Central Park for #82 Kimball/Homan buses will be via Cermak and Ogden back to Central Park.
Viaduct Work Closes Irving Park at Avondale Saturday, October 12Reconstruction of a railway viaduct will close Irving Park from Avondale to the southbound Kennedy Expressway exit ramp from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday,October 12. #80 Irving Park and Pace #254 buses will be detoured east off Irving Park via Avondale and Pulaski to Irving Park, and west via Pulaski, Addison, Milwaukee and Kilpatrick to Irving Park.
'L' Will Provide Timely Service During Chicago Marathon Sunday'L' trains will provide the timeliest transportation through the central part of the city during the LaSalle Bank's Chicago Marathon, which starts in Grant Park at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, October 13. Street traffic will be affected in stages as the runners proceed over a 26.2-mile course through the Loop and north to Belmont/Clark, west to Ashland/Taylor and south to Pershing/LaSalle before returning to Grant Park. All 32 bus routes that operate within the affected area could be delayed for a time over the anticipated six-hour duration of the race.
Columbus Drive Closed Through Monday for Columbus Day Parade The Columbus Day Parade will step off at 1 p.m. Monday, October 14 northbound on Columbus from Balbo to Monroe. Buses that regularly use Columbus between Balbo and Roosevelt will continue detouring through 5 p.m. Monday via Michigan, Roosevelt and Lake Shore Drive. The detour begins at 10 a.m. Friday in preparation for the Chicago Marathon.
