EVENTS AFFECTING CTA SERVICE MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND MAY 28 – 30

Note: All CTA Service will operate on a Sunday schedule on Memorial Day, Monday, May 31.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Red Line Next Week Due to the Memorial Day holiday, there will be no single track work on the Dan Ryan branch of the Red Line this weekend.

When work on the Red Line resumes Tuesday, single track service will be in effect southbound between 87th and 94th Streets from 10 p.m. until 4 a.m. Tuesday and Wednesday nights, June 1 - 2 and southbound between 79th and 87th Streets during the same hours Thursday night, June 3.

Customers should allow additional travel time.

Red Line By-Pass Tracks in ServiceDue to the Dan Ryan Red Line construction, CTA trains are using by-pass tracks between 43rd and 45th Streets until mid-July.

By-pass tracks also are in place between 69th and 71st Streets until mid-June.

Customers will continue to board trains at their normal station locations.

#124 Navy Pier Bus Route Operates Later Summer Hours Beginning FridayThe #124 Navy Pier bus route will operate until midnight instead of 10:30 p.m. from Navy Pier to the downtown Metra stations beginning Friday, May 28 and lasting through Labor Day, Monday, September 6. The last bus will leave Union Station at 11:30 p.m. weeknights and at 11:35 p.m. Saturday and Sunday nights.

Memorial Day Parade Closes Several Downtown Streets SaturdayState Street and its cross streets from Wacker Drive to Van Buren will be closed from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday for the Memorial Day Parade. Buses on the #6 Jackson Park Express, #10 Museum of Science & Industry, #14 Jeffery Express, #20 Madison, #29 State, #36 Broadway, #56 Milwaukee, #60 Blue Island/26th, #62 Archer, #126 Jackson, #145 Wilson/Michigan Express, #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express, #147 Outer Drive Express and #151 Sheridan routes will operate on adjacent streets. CTA supervisors will be available to provide assistance for the duration of the parade.

Additional Service Provided for Chicago Fire Soccer Game Saturday NightAdditional service will be provided on the #12 Roosevelt and #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express bus routes for the Chicago Fire soccer game against the Colorado Rapids at Soldier Field Saturday night. The game begins at 7:30 p.m. The additional bus service will begin at 6 p.m. and continue until one hour after the game ends or as crowds warrant.

Additional Service Provided for Fireworks at Navy Pier this WeekendAdditional service will be provided on the #29 State, #66 Chicago and #124 Navy Pier bus routes for fireworks displays that will take place at Navy Pier at 9:30 p.m. this Saturday and Sunday night. The last #29 bus leaves the pier at 12:25 a.m. and the last #66 bus leaves at 12:20 a.m. both nights year-round. The last #124 bus leaves the pier at midnight every night Friday through Labor Day.

Lake Shore Drive Closes for ?Bike the Drive? SundayLake Shore Drive will be closed between Bryn Mawr and 57th Street from 5 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. for ?Bike the Drive." The ride begins and ends in Grant Park at Columbus/Balbo. Several CTA bus routes will be rerouted during the event.

#6 Jackson Park Express buses will operate in both directions via Lake Park, 47th, King Drive, Cermak, Michigan, then resume the regular route.

#10 Museum of Science & Industry buses will operate in both directions via Michigan, Cermak, King Drive, 47th, Lake Park, 56th, Stony Island, 57th, Cornell to the west parking lot of the museum, where they will begin their return trips.

#12 Roosevelt buses will operate in both directions via Michigan, 14th, Indiana, back to Roosevelt then resume the regular route. Customers wishing to go to the Museum Campus should get off the #12 bus at Roosevelt/Michigan and walk one block north to the pedestrian walkway at 11th/Michigan.

#14 Jeffery Express buses will operate in both directions via Jeffery, 67th, Stony Island, 56th, Lake Park, 47th, Indiana, 31st, Michigan, then resume the regular route. Customers can use the pedestrian walkway at 11th/Michigan to access the Museum Campus.

#145 Wilson/Michigan Express and #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express buses will operate in both directions via Melrose, Inner Lake Shore Drive, Sheridan, Stockton, LaSalle, Inner Lake Shore Drive, Michigan, then resume the regular route. The #146 will operate only to Michigan/Roosevelt instead of the Museum Campus. Customers on the #146 wishing to visit the Museum Campus should get off at 11th/Michigan and use the pedestrian walkway.

#147 Outer Drive Express buses will operate in both directions via Marine, Inner Lake Shore Drive, Sheridan, Stockton, LaSalle, Inner Lake Shore Drive, Michigan, then resume the regular route.

Customers participating in ?Bike the Drive? can use CTA to get there. Nearly all CTA buses have racks mounted on the front of buses that can carry two bicycles. CTA trains also allow bicycles. The two-bike limit on rail cars will be relaxed from 5 a.m. until noon on Sunday on all CTA rail lines. CTA rail operators will determine whether a bike will fit on a rail car or if the car is too crowded.

Most CTA rail lines will operate longer trains during the following hours: Blue Line from 4 a.m. until 1 p.m., Red Line from Howard at 4 a.m. and 95th street at 4:20 a.m., Brown Line from 5 a.m. until 1 p.m., Green Line from 7 a.m. until 1:05 p.m., Orange Line from 5:35 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., Purple Line southbound from Linden to Howard from 6:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. and northbound from Howard to Linden from 11:45 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Helicopter Lift Closes Jackson and Clinton Sunday MorningA helicopter lift at 550 West Jackson will close Jackson between Jefferson and Canal, and Clinton between Van Buren and Adams from 8 a.m. until 9 a.m. Sunday. Westbound #60 Blue Island/26th buses will operate via Madison, Desplaines, back to Harrison then resume the regular route. Eastbound service will not be affected.

Eastbound #126 Jackson buses will operate via Jackson, Desplaines, Harrison, Canal back to Jackson then resume the regular route. Westbound service will not be affected.

Eastbound #124 Navy Pier buses will operate via Washington, Dearborn, Illinois and the regular route to Navy Pier. Westbound buses will leave Navy Pier and operate via Grand, Clark, back to Madison, then resume the regular route.

Summer Weekday Service to Museum of Science and Industry ResumesSummer weekday service on the #10 Museum of Science & Industry bus route resumes Wednesday, June 2 and runs through Labor Day. Buses operate every 15 ? 30 minutes throughout the day beginning at 8:57 a.m. from Michigan/ Delaware Monday through Saturday. Sunday service begins at 9:25 a.m. During these expanded summer service hours, the last bus will leave the Museum of Science and Industry to downtown at 6:25 p.m.

#10 buses operate year-round on weekends and holidays, except Christmas Day and on weekdays from Thanksgiving through New Year's Day.

39th Street Closes for Metra Viaduct Construction Beginning Tuesday39th Street will be closed between State and LaSalle from 7 a.m. Tuesday until 5 p.m. Saturday. Eastbound #39 Pershing buses will operate via LaSalle, Sox-35th Red Line station, State, back to Pershing then resume the regular route. Westbound buses will operate via Pershing, State, Sox-35th Red Line station, back to Wentworth then resume the regular route.

63rd Street Closes for Construction Beginning Wednesday63rd will be closed for construction eastbound only between Morgan and Ashland from Wednesday, June 2 until Wednesday, December 1. Eastbound #63 63rd buses will operate via 63rd, Ashland, Marquette, Halsted, back to 63rd then resume the regular route. Westbound service will not be affected.
