EVENTS AFFECTING CTA SERVICE MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND MAY 23 – 26

NOTE:All CTA buses and trains will operate on a Sunday schedule on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26.

Harrison Curve Realignment Affects Rail Service and Closes CongressDue to straightening the S-shaped portion of the CTA's elevated track between the Loop and Roosevelt Road, Congress will be closed between State and Michigan from 8 p.m. Friday evening, May 23 until 8 a.m. Saturday morning,May 24. It will be opened for 12 hours to accommodate the Memorial Day Parade Saturday and shut down again from 8 p.m. Saturday until 6 a.m. Tuesday, May 27. The work will affect Orange and Green Line service between Roosevelt Station and the Loop over the three-day period from Friday at 9 p.m. until Tuesday at 2 a.m. Trains are expected to resume their regular schedules on Tuesday morning along the new tracks.

Southbound #6 Jeffery Express buses will be rerouted from State via Jackson to Michigan to resume the regular route.

#145 Wilson-Michigan Express, #146 Marine-Michigan Express and #147 Outer Drive Express buses will operate in both directions via Michigan, Roosevelt and State then resume the regular route.(For details on rail service, see separate release)

Memorial Day Parade Closes Several Downtown Streets SaturdayState Street and its cross streets will be closed from Wacker Drive to Van Buren from mid-morning until mid-afternoon for the Memorial Day Parade. The line of march will be southbound on State from Lake to Van Buren between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.

Affected bus routes include: #6 Jeffery Express, #10 Museum of Science and Industry, #20 Madison, #29 State, #36 Broadway, #56 Milwaukee, #60 Blue Island, #62 Archer, #126 Jackson, #147 Outer Drive Express and #151 Sheridan. Buses will be rerouted to adjacent streets and CTA supervisors will be on hand to provide assistance for the duration of the parade.

Helicopter Lift Closes Three Streets Sunday MorningA helicopter lift at 71 East Wacker will close Wacker Drive between Michigan and State; Wacker Place between Michigan and Wabash; and Wabash between Lake and Wacker Drive from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Southbound #6 Jeffery Express buses will operate via South Water, Michigan, Randolph and State then resume the regular route.

Southbound #10 Museum of Science and Industry buses will operate via Michigan, Randolph and State then resume the regular route. Northbound buses will operate via State, Lake and Michigan and back to the regular route.

Southbound #146 Marine-Michigan Express will operate via Michigan, Randolph to State then resume the regular route.

Helicopter Lift Closes Wacker and Washington Sunday MorningA helicopter lift at the Civic Opera House at 20 North Wacker will close Wacker between Madison and Randolph and Washington between Canal and Franklin between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. Sunday.

The #20 Madison, #56 Milwaukee and #60 Blue Island bus routes will operate eastbound via Clinton, Monroe, Franklin to Washington to resume the regular route.

The westbound reroute is via Madison and Franklin, Randolph, Clinton to Madison to resume the regular route.

Damen and Central Park Closed for Rehab of the Cermak (Douglas) Branch of the Blue Line Damen will be closed between Cullerton and 21st Street due to the ongoing renovation of the Blue Line. #50 Damen buses will be rerouted in both directions via Cermak, Ashland, 18th Street and Damen then resume the regular route. Damen is expected to reopen by 7 p.m. Monday, May 26.

Central Park will be closed from Ogden to 21st Street from 6 a.m. Saturday, May 24 until 6 p.m. Sunday, May 25. #82 Kimball/Homan buses will be rerouted in both directions via Cermak, Kedzie, 16th Street to Central Park then resume the regular route.

103rd Street Closed Weekdays from St. Lawrence to Cottage Grove until June 12Construction has closed 103rd Street eastbound only from St. Lawrence to Cottage Grove. Closures are in effect weekdays only from 9 a.m. until4 p.m. Eastbound #106 East 103rd buses are operating via King Drive, 107th, Cottage Grove to 103rd then resuming the regular route.

Weekday Service to Museum of Science and Industry Resumes Summer weekday service on the #10 Museum of Science & Industry bus route will resume Tuesday, May 27 and run through Labor Day, September 1. Buses operate every 15 to 20 minutes throughout the day beginning at 8:57 a.m. whenthe first southbound #10 bus leaves Michigan and Delaware. The last busdeparts the museum northbound back to downtown at 5:10 p.m.

#10 buses run year-round on weekends and holidays, except Christmas Day and on weekdays from Thanksgiving through New Year's Day.

Ridge Run Closes Streets in Beverly Monday MorningThe ?Ridge Run? and Memorial Day Parade will take place in the Beverly neighborhood between 8 a.m. and noon on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26. The events will close 103rd and 111th Streets at Longwood Drive. The #103 103rd buses will operate in both directions via Beverly, 95th Street, Western to 103rd Street then resume the regular route.

#112 Vincennes/111th will operate in both directions via Vincennes, 115th Street, Western to 115th Street then resume the regular route.
