Events Affecting CTA Service Beginning Weekend of September 7 – September 9

Slow Zone Work
Temporary Blue Line Subway Closure This Weekend for Slow Zone Work
CTA will temporarily suspend service on the O'Hare branch of the Blue Line between Western/Milwaukee and Clark/Lake on Friday, September 7 from 11 p.m. to
4 p.m. Sunday, September 9
, in order to replace rail ties.

Bus shuttles will operate as a substitute for rail service making stops at Western/Milwaukee, Damen, Division, Chicago, Grand, Clark/Lake, Washington, Monroe and Jackson.

Beginning at 4 p.m. Sunday, until 1 a.m. Monday, September 10, northbound trains will share the tracks with southbound trains in the subway from Grand to Division. All customers will board and exit on the southbound side of the platform. The bus shuttle will not operate during these hours.

From 8 p.m. each night until 4 a.m. each morning beginning Monday, September 10 through Thursday morning, September 13, a single track will be in effect between Grand and Division. On Monday and Tuesday, customers will board and exit on the southbound side of the platform. On Wednesday, customers will board and exit on the northbound side of the platform.

CTA customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Blue Line Single Track in Effect
From 8 p.m. Thursday, September 6 until 4 a.m. Friday, September 7
a single track will be in effect between Grand and LaSalle stations. A single track also will be in effect in the same location and same hours on Thursday, September 13 until Friday, September 14.

From 11 p.m. Friday until 9 a.m. Saturday, September 8 a single track will be in effect between the Halsted and LaSalle street stations. Customers will board and exit all trains on the southbound side of the platform.

From 11 p.m. Saturday until 9 a.m. Sunday, September 9 customers must board and exit all trains on the northbound side of the platform.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Red Line Trains to Temporarily Reroute to Elevated Tracks Next Week
Northbound Red Line trains that normally operate through the subway between the Cermak/Chinatown station and the Fullerton station will reroute to the elevated tracks from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Monday, September 10 and Tuesday, September 11.

Rerouted northbound trains will stop at the following elevated stations between Cermak/Chinatown and Fullerton: Roosevelt/Wabash, Adams/Wabash, Madison/Wabash, Randolph/Wabash, State/Lake, Clark/Lake, Merchandise Mart, Chicago/Franklin and Sedgwick. Please note, the Merchandise Mart station is available as an exit only (via stairway) from
1 a.m. to 5 a.m.

Southbound Red Line trains that normally operate through the subway between the Fullerton station and the Cermak/Chinatown station will be rerouted from the subway to the elevated tracks from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Wednesday, September 12 and Thursday, September 13.

Rerouted southbound trains will stop at the following elevated stations between Cermak/Chinatown and Fullerton: Sedgwick, Chicago/Franklin, Merchandise Mart, Clark/Lake, State/Lake, Randolph/Wabash, Madison/Wabash, Adams/Wabash and Roosevelt/Wabash. Please note, the Merchandise Mart station is available as an exit only (via stairway) on from 1 a.m. to
5 a.m.

Customers are asked to allow extra travel time.

Other Events Affecting Service
Red Line Trains Temporarily Reroute at Belmont

Southbound Red Line trains will operate on the Brown Line tracks at Belmont from9 a.m. until 3 p.m. weekdays until the fall. Red Line customers should board on the Brown Line side of the platform at Belmont.

From 8 p.m. each night until 4:30 a.m. each following morning southbound Red Line customers will board on the Brown Line side of the platform beginning Thursday, September 6 until Friday, September 7 and again during the same hours on Monday, September 10 until Wednesday, September 12.

Brown Line Single Track in Effect This Weekend
A single track will be in effect at the Armitage station on the Brown Line from 1 a.m. Saturday, September 8 until 8 p.m. Sunday, September 9 while crews work on the southbound platform. All customers boarding at Armitage will board on the northbound (east) platform.

Buses Reroute for Parades
Downtown
Columbus Drive will be closed between Roosevelt and Monroe for the Mexican Independence Day Parade from noon until
2 p.m. on Saturday, September 8.

Northbound #6 Jackson Park, #10 Museum of Science & Industry, #14 Jeffery Express and #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express buses will operate via Columbus, Roosevelt, Michigan and Balbo. The #6, #10 and #146 will continue along Balbo and return to the regular route. The #14 Jeffery will continue north on Michigan and resume the regular route.

Southbound buses will return to Columbus and resume the regular route.

South Side
From 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 8, #34 Michigan and #119th buses will reroute for the 9th Ward Back to School Parade.

#34 Michigan buses will operate in both directions via Michigan, 111th, State, 127th then resume the regular route.

#119 Michigan buses will operate in both directions via Michigan, 111th, State to 119th and resume the regular route.

Southbound #111 Pullman buses will operate via 115th, King Drive, 107th, State, 155th, Vincennes, 111th, State, 107th, King then return to 111th and resume the regular route to the terminal on Corliss.

Northbound buses will operate via 111th, King Drive, 107th, State, 111th, Vincennes, 115th, Sate, 107th, King, 111th, Cottage Grove and resume the regular route to the 95th/Red Line terminal.

Buses Reroute for Marathon
The 11th Annual Banco Popular Chicago Half Marathon will take place on Sunday, September 9 beginning at 7:30 a.m.

#6 Jackson Park Express, #10 Museum of Science & Industry, #14 Jeffery Express, #15 Jeffery Local, #28 Stony Island, #55 Garfield and #171 U of Chicago/Hyde Park buses traveling in both directions may undergo intermittent reroutes to adjacent streets throughout the marathon.

CTA Provides Convenient Service for College Football Games
CTA's #12 Roosevelt and #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express are convenient travel options for fans heading to the Mississippi Valley State versus Southern University Chicago Classic at Soldier Field on Saturday, September 8. The Chicago High School Battle of the Bands will take place prior to the game at 3:30 p.m. Game time is 4 p.m.

From 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday, CTA will operate longer trains on the Purple Line for the Northwestern University versus University of Nevada game at Ryan Field. The stadium is located approximately three blocks from the Central station.

Archer Closed for Repairs
Archer Avenue will be closed to northeast traffic from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday, September 8 due to sewer repairs. Northbound #62 Archer buses will travel over the regular route to 47th Street then will operate via Kedzie to Archer and resume the regular route. Southbound buses are not affected.

Additional Service Provided for Men's Soccer Match
CTA will provide service for fans heading to the USA versus Brazil soccer match at Soldier Field on Sunday, September 9. Game time is 3 p.m.

Beginning at 12:30 p.m. more frequent service will operate on the #12 Roosevelt and the #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express routes.

Additional Service Provided Following Lakefront Pavilion Concert
CTA's #130 Grant Park Treasures will provide service following the Stevie Wonder concert at the Charter One Pavilion at Northerly Island on Monday, September 10. Buses will depart the Adler Planetarium every 10 minutes for one half hour after the concert ends.

Howard Street Closed Through Friday
Howard Street at the Red Line will be closed daily from
7:30 p.m. until 5 a.m. Tuesday, September 4 through Friday morning, September 7. #201 Central Ridge buses will be rerouted from Ashland to Howard, Rogers, Sheridan, Howard, Rogers to Howard Terminal, then travel north through the terminal to Howard and resume the regular route.

The reroute will also be in effect during the same hours next week beginning Monday, September 10 through Thursday, September 13.

#77 Belmont Reroutes Next Week
#77 Belmont buses will undergo reroutes from 9:15 p.m. each night until 5 a.m. each morning beginning Monday,
September 10 through Thursday morning, September 13 due to construction at the Red Line station.

Buses will operate in both directions via Belmont, Sheffield, Addison, Halsted then return to Belmont and resume the regular route.

Chicago Avenue Bridge Closed
Chicago Avenue will be closed at 622 West over the Chicago River from 9:30 a.m. until2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 11 and again at the same location and the same hours on Wednesday, September 12.

#66 Chicago buses will operate in both directions via Chicago, Halsted, Division, Crosby, Larrabee then return to Chicago and resume the regular route.

Bus Stop Changes
Effective Wednesday, September 12, several bus stops will undergo changes in order to improve service along the respective routes.

The near side westbound stop at Harrison and Lotus served by the #7 Harrison will be relocated to a far side stop.

The northbound and southbound stops on Damen at Augusta that are served by the #50 Damen will relocate to far side stops.

The southbound stop on Ashland at 16th served by the #9 Ashland will be eliminated. Customers can board southbound buses at 17th street.

The eastbound stop on Garfield at Wabash that is served by the #55 Garfield route will be relocated to a far side stop while the westbound stop will become a near side stop.

The stops on Garfield at Michigan in both directions served by the #55 Garfield will be eliminated. Customers can board #55 buses at Wabash or Indiana.

The northbound stop on Baltimore at 135th that is served by the #30 South Chicago will be eliminated. Customers can board on Baltimore at Brainard.

The southbound stop on Ellis at 54th served by the #172 U of Chicago Kenwood route will be eliminated. Customers can board buses at 53rd or 55th and Ellis.
