Reroutes in Effect on Elevated Routes as Signal Work Resumes
The CTA continues slow zone prevention work this week on the Loop elevated tracks. Crews are replacing track and rail ties, and installing a new signal and train control system. The new systems will help improve the reliability of service by regulating train movement, speed and intervals at that junction.

The most intense work is scheduled on the Lake Street and Wabash Avenue tracks on weekends resulting in reroutes for Brown, Orange, Pink and Green Line trains, with some work scheduled on select weeknights. The work on the elevated lines is scheduled to continue through Thanksgiving 2008.

Blue Line - Slow Zone Work
Blue Line Service Between Jefferson Park and Irving Park Temporarily Suspended This Weekend
Rail service between the Jefferson Park and Irving Park Blue Line stations will be temporarily suspended from 9 p.m. Friday, September 12 until 3 a.m. Monday, September 15, in order to replace deteriorated rail ties, tie plates and spikes.

Bus shuttles will operate in both directions as a substitute for rail service between the Jefferson Park, Montrose and Irving Park stations.

In addition, CTA personnel will be available to direct customers to waiting buses. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Alternate Service for Customers with Disabilities
Because the Montrose and Irving Park stations are not equipped with an elevator, southbound customers who need an elevator to access rail service should board the CTA shuttle bus at Jefferson Park, which will stop at the Montrose and Irving Park stations and then proceed to the accessible Logan Square station.

Northbound customers are advised to exit at Logan Square rather than traveling to Irving Park, where they can board a CTA shuttle bus to the accessible Jefferson Park station.

Customers with disabilities also have the option of boarding a #56 Milwaukee bus which operates between these stations.

Single Track in Effect for Northbound Blue Line Trains on the O'Hare Branch
From 8 p.m. each night until 4 a.m. the following morning, beginning Tuesday night, September 16 through Friday morning, September 19,
a single track will be in effect for Blue Line trains operating between the Belmont and Addison stations.

During these times, northbound Blue Line customers at the Belmont and Addison stations must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Red Line - Slow Zone Work
Late Night Single Track in Effect for Southbound Red Line Trains
A single track will be in effect for southbound Red Line trains operating between the Fullerton and Clark/Division stations from 11 p.m. Friday, September 12 until 7 a.m. the following morning.

Southbound Red Line customers at North/Clybourn must board and exit trains from the northbound platform.

CTA operators will announce the direction of each train. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Single Track in Effect for Southbound Red Line Subway Trains Saturday Night
A late night single track will be in effect for southbound Red Line subway trains between the Grand and Clark/Division stations from 11 p.m. Saturday, September 13 until 7 a.m. the following morning.

Southbound Red Line customers at the Grand and Chicago subway stations must board and exit trains from the northbound platform.

Southbound Red Line customers at Clark/Division must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform.

CTA operators will announce the direction of each train. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Southbound Red Line Subway Trains Temporarily Rerouted to Elevated Tracks on Monday
Southbound Red Line trains that normally operate through the subway between the Fullerton and Cermak/Chinatown stations will be temporarily rerouted to the elevated tracks from 9 p.m. Monday, September 15 until 5 a.m. Tuesday, September 16.

Rerouted southbound trains will stop at the following elevated stations between Fullerton and Cermak/Chinatown: Armitage, Sedgwick, Chicago/Franklin, Merchandise Mart, Clark/Lake, State/Lake, Randolph/Wabash, Madison/Wabash, Adams/Wabash and Roosevelt/Wabash. The Merchandise Mart station is available as an exit only (via stairway) on from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m.

Southbound Red Line trains will operate normally between the Howard and Fullerton stations and between the Cermak/Chinatown and 95th Street stations. Northbound Red Line service is not affected.

Single Track in Effect for Southbound Brown Line Trains This Weekend and Next Week
A single track will be in effect for southbound Brown Line trains between the Western and Addison stations, from 3 a.m. Saturday morning, September 13 to 3 a.m. Monday morning, September 15.

Southbound Brown Line customers at the Montrose station must board and exit trains from the northbound platform.

CTA operators will announce the direction of each train. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Next Week
A late night single track will continue to be in effect for Brown Line trains operating between the Western and Addison stations from 8 p.m. each night until 4 a.m. the following morning beginning Monday night, September 15 through Friday morning, September 19.

Southbound Brown Line customers at the Montrose station must board and exit trains from the northbound platform.

CTA operators will announce the direction of each train. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Blue Line - Other Events Affecting Service
Single Track in Effect for Blue Line Trains Due to Block 37 Work
A single track will be in effect for northbound Blue Line trains operating between the LaSalle and Grand stations from 11 p.m. Friday night, September 12 until 7 a.m. the following morning, and then again from 10 p.m. Saturday night, September 13 until 7 a.m. the following morning.

During these times, northbound Blue Line customers at the Jackson, Monroe, Washington and Clark/Lake stations must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform.

CTA operators will announce the direction of each train. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Red Line - Other Events Affecting Service
Northbound Red Line Trains Temporarily Rerouted Between Addison and Berwyn
From 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, September 14,
northbound Red Line trains will be temporarily rerouted operate on the Purple Express tracks between Addison and Berwyn, due to structural maintenance work.

Northbound Red Line customers at Sheridan must board and exit trains from the Purple Express side of the platform.

During this time, northbound Red Line trains will be unable to stop at the Wilson, Lawrence and Argyle stations. Northbound Red Line customers traveling to Wilson, Lawrence or Argyle should exit at Berwyn to board a southbound train and exit at their respective station. Northbound customers boarding at Wilson, Lawrence or Argyle and must take a southbound train to Sheridan (or Addison for easier cross-platform transfers) and board a northbound train.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Brown/Red Line - Other Events Affecting Service
Brown and Red Line Trains Temporarily Rerouted at Belmont and Fullerton This Weekend
Due to work associated with the Brown Line Capacity Expansion project, southbound Brown and Red Line trains will be temporarily rerouted at the Belmont and Fullerton stations from 9 p.m. Friday, September 12 to 7 a.m. Saturday, September 13.

Southbound Brown and Red Line customers at Belmont and Fullerton must board and exit trains from the northbound Red Line side of the platform. Northbound Brown and Red Line customers must board and exit trains from the northbound Brown Line side of the platform.

During this time, southbound Brown Line trains will be unable to stop at Diversey. Southbound Brown Line customers traveling to Diversey should exit at Fullerton and board a northbound train to Diversey. Customers boarding at Diversey traveling southbound should board a northbound train and exit at Belmont to board a southbound train.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Southbound Brown and Red Line Trains Temporarily Rerouted at Belmont
From 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday, September 13,
southbound Brown and Red Line trains will be temporarily rerouted at Belmont while crews continue weekend work associated with the Brown Line Capacity Expansion project.

Southbound Brown and Red Line customers at Belmont must board and exit trains from the northbound Red Line side of the platform. Northbound Brown and Red Line customers must board and exit trains from the northbound Brown Line side of the platform.

During this time, southbound Brown Line trains will be unable to stop at Diversey. Southbound Brown Line customers traveling to Diversey should exit at Fullerton and board a northbound train to Diversey. Customers boarding at Diversey traveling southbound should board a northbound train and exit at Belmont to board a southbound train.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

New/Updated Changes in Bus Service
CTA Buses Rerouted Around Wells Street Bridge
Until further notice, two CTA bus routes will be detoured around the Wells Street Bridge due to maintenance and repair work.

Southbound #11 Lincoln/Sedgwick and westbound #125 Water Tower Express buses will operate over the regular route along Wells to Hubbard then travel via Hubbard, LaSalle, Wacker to Wells and then resume the regular route. Northbound #11 and eastbound #125 buses are not affected and will operate over their regular routes.

Street Repairs Temporarily Reroute #11 Lincoln/Sedgwick Buses
Until 5 a.m. Monday, September 15, #11 Lincoln/Sedgwick buses will be unable to turn from Lincoln Avenue to Ainslie due to street repair work. During this time, southbound #11 buses will operate over the regular route along Lincoln to Foster then travel via Foster to Western and resume the regular route. Northbound buses will travel the reverse route.

#36 Broadway Buses Rerouted for the Lakeview East Fine Arts Festival
From 6 p.m. Friday, September 12 until 5 a.m. Monday, September 15, Broadway will be closed between Belmont and Roscoe for the Lakeview East Fine Arts Festival.

Northbound #36 Broadway buses will travel over the regular route along Broadway to Belmont then will operate via Belmont, Halsted, Addison to Broadway and then resume the regular route. Southbound #36 buses will travel the reverse route.

#60 Blue Island/26th Buses Rerouted for the Festival de La Villita
26th Street will be closed from Kostner to Ogden until 11 p.m. Friday, September 12 and then again from noon Saturday, September 13 until 11 p.m. Sunday, September 14 for the Festival de La Villita.

Westbound #60 Blue Island/26th buses will operate over the regular route along 26th to Kostner then will travel via Kostner, Ogden to Cicero and resume regular route. Eastbound #60 buses will travel the reverse route.

Late Night Reroute of #77 Belmont Buses
Due to work associated with the Brown Line Capacity Expansion project, Belmont Avenue at the Brown Line station will be closed to all traffic from 9 p.m. Friday, September 12 until 6 a.m. the following morning.

Eastbound #77 Belmont buses will travel along Belmont to Sheffield and then will operate via Sheffield, Addison, Halsted to Belmont and then resume the regular route. Westbound #77 buses will travel the reverse route.

Taste of Romania Festival Reroutes #52 Kedzie/California Buses This Weekend
From 9 a.m. Friday, September 12 until 9 a.m. Monday, September 15, California Avenue will be closed between 35th and 36th streets due to the Taste of Romania Festival.

Northbound #52 Kedzie/California buses will operate over the regular route along California to Diversey then will travel via Diversey, Sacramento, Belmont to California and then resume the regular route. Southbound #52 buses will travel the reverse route.

Annual Light the Night Chicago Walk Temporarily Reroutes Buses This Weekend
From 6 a.m. until 9 p.m. Saturday, September 13, Columbus Drive will be closed between Roosevelt and Congress for the annual Light the Night Chicago Walk.

Northbound #6 Jackson Park Express and #14 Jeffrey Express buses will travel over the regular route along Columbus to Roosevelt and then will operate via Roosevelt to Michigan and then resume the regular route. Southbound #6 and #14 buses will travel the reverse route.

Northbound #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express buses will travel over the regular route along Columbus to Roosevelt then will operate via Roosevelt, Michigan to Balbo and then resume the regular route. Southbound #146 buses will travel the reverse route.

#36 Broadway Buses Temporarily Rerouted This Weekend
The intersection of State and Delaware will be temporarily closed due to water main repair work on Saturday, September 13 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Southbound #36 Broadway buses will operate over the regular route along Clark to Chicago and then travel via Chicago to State and resume the regular route. Northbound #36 buses will travel the regular route along State to Chicago then operate via Chicago, Dearborn, Elm to Clark and resume the regular route.

8th Ward Back to School Parade Temporarily Reroutes Buses on Saturday
From 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, September 13, Cottage Grove Avenue will be closed between 83rd and 87th, and 87th Street will be closed between Cottage Grove and Stony Island for the annual 8th Ward Back to School Parade.

During this time, #4 Cottage Grove, #14 Jeffery Express, #15 Jeffery Local, #28 Stony Island and #87 87th routes will undergo reroutes to adjacent streets around the parade route.

#78 Montrose Buses Temporarily Rerouted at the Brown Line This Weekend
Due to work associated with the Brown Line Capacity Expansion project, Montrose Avenue at the Brown Line station will be closed to all traffic from 3 a.m. Saturday, September 13 until 3 a.m. Monday, September 15.

Eastbound #78 Montrose buses will operate over the regular route along Montrose to Damen then travel via Damen to Wilson and resume the regular route. Westbound #78 buses will travel the reverse route.

Buses Rerouted for Mexican Independence Day Parades This Weekend
Saturday - Pilsen Mexican Independence Parade
On Saturday, September 13 from 10 a.m. until completion, 18th Street will be closed between Newberry and Wolcott for the annual Pilsen Mexican Independence Parade.

Northbound #9 Ashland buses will travel over the regular route along Ashland to Cermak and then operate via Cermak, Halsted, 16th to Ashland and then resume the regular route. Southbound #9 buses will travel the reverse route.

Eastbound #18 16th/18th buses will operate over the regular route along 18th to Damen and then travel via Damen, Cermak, Halsted to 18th and then resume the regular route. Westbound #18 buses will travel the reverse route.

Eastbound #60 Blue Island/26th buses will travel over the regular route along Cermak to Halsted and then operate via Halsted, 16th to Racine and then resume the regular route. Westbound #60 buses will travel the reverse route.

Saturday - South Chicago Mexican Independence Parade
Commercial Avenue will be closed between 83rd and 95th streets for the annual South Chicago Mexican Independence Parade on Saturday, September 13 from noon until 5:30 p.m.

Southbound #30 South Chicago buses will operate over the regular route along South Chicago to Commercial then will travel via Commercial, 95th to Ewing and resume the regular route. Northbound #30 buses will travel the reverse route.

Southbound #71 71st/South Shore buses will travel over the regular route along South Shore to 79th then operate via 79th, Yates, South Chicago, Exchange/93rd, Colfax, Torrence to 104th and resume the regular route. Northbound #71 buses will travel the reverse route.

Eastbound #87 87th buses will operate over the regular route along 87th to South Chicago then travel via South Chicago, Exchange to 92nd for the end of route and the start of westbound service.

Eastbound #95E 93rd/95th buses will operate along 92nd to Exchange for the end of route and the start of westbound service.

Sunday - 26th Street Mexican Independence Parade
26th Street will be closed between California and Kostner from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, September 14, due to the 26th Street Mexican Independence Parade. #52 Kedzie/California, #53 Pulaski, #60 Blue Island/26th Street and #82 Kimball/Homan buses will reroute to adjacent streets around the parade route.

Buses Reroute for Marathon
The 12th Annual Banco Popular Chicago Half Marathon will take place on Sunday, September 14 beginning at 7:30 a.m.

#6 Jackson Park Express, #10 Museum of Science & Industry, #14 Jeffery Express, #15 Jeffery Local, #28 Stony Island, #55 Garfield and #171 U of Chicago/Hyde Park buses traveling in both directions may undergo intermittent reroutes to adjacent streets throughout the marathon.

Sewer Repair Work Reroutes #78 Montrose Buses
Due to sewer repair work, Montrose Avenue will be closed between Wolcott and Hermitage until 4 a.m. Monday, October 24. Eastbound #78 Montrose buses will operate over the regular route along Montrose to Damen then travel via Damen, Wilson, Clark to Montrose and then resume the regular route. Westbound #78 buses will travel the reverse route.

Ongoing Bus Reroutes
#87 87th Buses Reroute for Construction Through September
#87 87th buses continue to be rerouted in both directions until 5 a.m. Wednesday, September 17, due to street reconstruction. Eastbound buses will travel over the regular route to Vincennes then will operate via Vincennes, 83rd, Lafayette then return to 87th and resume the regular route. Westbound buses will travel over the regular route to State then will operate via State, 83rd, Vincennes then return to 87th and resume the regular route.

#82 Kimball/Homan Buses Rerouted For Sewer Repair Work
Until 4 a.m. Thursday, September 25, Kimball Avenue will be closed between Foster and Bryn Mawr due to sewer repair work. Northbound #82 Kimball/Homan buses will travel over the regular route along Kimball to Foster then will operate via Foster, Kedzie, Bryn Mawr to Kimball and then resume the regular route. Southbound #82 buses will operate the reverse route.

Road Repairs Temporarily Reroute #201 and #206 Buses
Until Monday, September 29, southbound Ridge Avenue between Davis and Main will be closed due to street reconstruction.

Southbound #201 Central/Ridge buses will operate over the regular route along Chicago to Davis then travel via Davis, Asbury, Main to Ridge and then resume the regular route.

For the evening rush period, southbound #206 buses will operate along Dempster to Asbury then travel via Asbury, Main to Ridge and then resume the regular route.

Buses Rerouted on Saturdays for the Near North Farmer's Market
From 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. every Saturday through October 25, Division Street between State and Clark will be closed for the Near North Farmer's Market.

During this time, southbound #36 Broadway buses will travel over the regular route to Clark then will operate via Clark, Maple to State and then resume the regular route.

Northbound #36 buses will operate over the regular route to State then will travel via State, Elm to Clark and then resume the regular route.

Eastbound #70 Division buses will travel over the regular route along Division to Clark and then operate via Clark, Maple to Dearborn and then resume the regular route. Westbound service is not affected.

Buses Reroute Downtown for Construction
From midnight each weeknight until 6 a.m. the following morning Randolph Street will be closed from State to Dearborn through Saturday morning, November 1.

In addition, Dearborn Street is closed between Washington and Randolph from 9 p.m. each weeknight until 6 a.m. the following morning through Saturday morning, November 1.

Northbound #22 Clark, #36 Broadway and #62 Archer buses will travel over the regular route along Dearborn to Monroe and will then operate via Monroe, State, Wacker to Dearborn and then resume the regular route.

Bridge Reconstruction Reroutes Buses
The reroute of #205 Chicago/Golf buses will continue until November 16, due to bridge reconstruction on Emerson between Leland and McCormick. #205 buses will operate in both directions via Church, McCormick to Golf and then resume the regular route.

Railroad Bridge Repairs Reroute #75 74th/75th Buses
Until Wednesday, December 31, 2008, #75 74th/75th buses will be rerouted on weekdays only from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. due to railroad bridge repair work in the 7500 block of South Loomis Street. Eastbound #75 buses will travel along 74th Street to Ashland then will operate via Ashland, 76th, Racine to 74th and resume the regular route. Westbound #75 buses will operate the reverse route.

Buses Rerouted on Harrison Due to Construction
Harrison Street between Paulina Street and Ashland Avenue continues to be closed until Thursday, January 1, 2009, due to construction. During this time, eastbound #7 Harrison and #126 Jackson buses will be rerouted.

Eastbound #7 buses will travel over the regular route to Paulina then will operate via Polk, Ashland to Harrison and resume the regular route.

Eastbound #126 buses operating during late evenings, weekends and holidays will travel over the regular route to Harrison then will operate via Harrison, Wood, Polk, Ashland to Harrison and then resume the regular route.

Bus Stop Temporarily Relocated
Until further notice, the westbound mid-block bus stop located at Harrison near Paulina served by the #7 Harrison will be temporarily relocated around the corner on Paulina due to construction.

Bus Stop Relocated Due to Construction at Chestnut and Lake Shore Drive
Until June 1, 2011, the bus stop located at Chestnut and Lake Shore Drive, served by the #10 Museum of Science & Industry and #157 Streeterville buses, will be relocated due to construction. Customers must board and exit #10 and #157 buses at Inner Lake Shore Drive and Pearson.

#24 Wentworth Buses Temporarily Rerouted Due to Sewer Repair Work
Until further notice, #24 Wentworth buses will be temporarily rerouted to adjacent streets due to sewer repair work at the intersection of Vincennes Avenue and 71st Street.

#34 South Michigan Buses Temporarily Rerouted Due to Construction
Until further notice, 130th Street at Indiana Avenue will be closed due to viaduct and sewer repair work. Southbound #34 South Michigan buses will travel over the regular route along Michigan to 115th and then operate via 115th, Bishop Ford Expressway, 130th to Langley and then resume the regular route. Northbound #34 buses will travel the reverse route.

During this time, bus shuttles will operate along Michigan Avenue between 115th and 127th streets.

Bus Service Changes Due to Construction at State and Grand
#36 Broadway and southbound #29 State buses are rerouting until further notice at Grand Avenue and State Street due to construction at the Red Line's Grand station. Southbound #36 and #29 buses will travel over the regular route to Grand then will operate via Clark to Illinois then return to State and resume the regular route.

Northbound #36 buses will travel over the regular route to Dearborn then will operate via Dearborn to Ohio, then return to State and resume the regular route.

Bus Stop Temporarily Relocated
Until further notice, the westbound near side bus stop located at Grand and State, served by the #29 State, #36 Broadway and #65 Grand buses, will be temporarily relocated to a near side stop at Grand and Dearborn due to construction.

Buses Reroute Due to Construction
Halsted is closed at Root Street from 6 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. and again at 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. each day until further notice, due to construction. Westbound #43 43rd buses will operate over the regular route to Halsted and then will travel via Halsted, 45th Street, Morgan to Exchange and resume the regular route. Eastbound #43 buses will operate the reverse route.

#60 Blue Island/26th Buses Rerouted Due to Lane Closure
Until further notice, Laflin Street between Cermak and 21st Place will be closed to all traffic due to construction at Benito Juarez School. Eastbound #60 Blue Island/26th buses will travel over the regular route to Cermak then will operate via Cermak, Loomis, 21st Street then return to Laflin and resume the regular route. Westbound #60 buses will operate the reverse route.
