Events Affecting CTA Service Beginning Weekend of October 19-21

Slow Zone Work
Red Line Trains to Temporarily Reroute to Elevated Tracks

While work is under way to eliminate slow zones, service on the Red Line between Fullerton station and Cermak/Chinatown will be temporarily suspended in both directions from 11 p.m. Friday, October 19 until 1 a.m. Monday, October 22. North and southbound Red Line trains will be rerouted from the subway to the elevated tracks throughout the weekend. Elevated stations are located within a block of Red Line subway stations in the Loop. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Red Line trains will operate normally between the Cermak/Chinatown and 95th stations and between the Howard and Fullerton stations.

Rerouted trains will stop at the following elevated stations between Cermak/Chinatown and Fullerton: Roosevelt/Wabash, Adams/Wabash, Madison/Wabash, Randolph/Wabash, State/Lake, Clark/Lake, Merchandise Mart, Chicago/Franklin and Sedgwick. The Merchandise Mart station is available as an exit only (via stairway) on Friday from 11:50 p.m. to 5 a.m. Saturday morning, on Saturday night from 11:50 p.m. to 7 a.m. Sunday morning and from 11:50 p.m. Sunday until 5 a.m. Monday morning.

Red Line trains will resume normal service through the subway at 1 a.m. Monday. In addition to running Red Line trains on the elevated tracks, CTA will operate three bus shuttles to help customers make their normal connections.

Bus shuttle service will operate between the Clark/Division station and North/Clybourn station, stopping at the Sedgwick Brown Line station where customers may board Red Line trains.

Bus shuttle service also will operate from the Grand/State and Chicago/State stations to the Chicago/Franklin Brown Line station where customers may board Red Line trains.

Additional bus shuttle service will operate between Jackson/State, Jackson/Wabash, Harrison/State and Roosevelt/Wabash where customers may board Red Line trains.

Northbound Red Line trains that normally operate through the subway between the Cermak/Chinatown station and the Fullerton station will be rerouted from the subway to the elevated tracks from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on four nights next week, Monday, October 22 through Thursday, October 25. Southbound service is not affected.

Service Between Blue Line's Jefferson Park and Harlem Stations Temporarily Suspended This Weekend
Service between the Jefferson Park and Harlem stations on the O'Hare branch of the Blue Line will be temporarily suspended from 11 p.m. Friday, October 19 until 3 a.m. Monday, October 22 in order to replace rail ties. The work is part of an aggressive plan to eliminate slow zones on the O'Hare branch of the Blue Line and restore normal train speed.

Bus shuttles will operate as a substitute for rail service between the two stations.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Other Events Affecting Service
Daytime Reroute at Fullerton Saturday

A reroute will be in effect on the Red and Brown lines at Fullerton station from 5 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday, October 20.

Southbound Red Line customers will board trains on the Brown Line side of the platform at Fullerton. Northbound Red and Brown Line customers will board trains on the southbound platform where southbound Red Line trains normally stop.

During the same hours, northbound Brown Line trains will be unable to stop at Wellington. Northbound customers who wish to exit at Wellington should ride to Belmont and take a southbound train to Wellington. Northbound customers who wish to board at Wellington should take a southbound train to Fullerton and board a northbound train.

Customers are asked to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Red Line Trains Temporarily Reroute at Sheridan
Southbound Red Line trains will operate on the southbound Purple Express tracks at Sheridan from 7 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Saturday, October 20 and again beginning Monday, October 22 through Friday, October 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day.Southbound customers at Sheridan will board and exit trains on the Purple Express side of the platform.

Northbound Platform Out of Service at Red Line Howard Station This Weekend
The northbound platform at the Howard Red Line station will be temporarily out of service for construction work from 8 p.m. Friday, October 19 until 2 a.m. Monday, October 22. Customers must board trains on the southbound platform.

Late Night Single Tracks on Blue Line
Saturday
A single track will be in effect between Jefferson Park and Addison stations on the O'Hare branch of the Blue Line from 9 p.m. Saturday, October 20 until 1 a.m. Sunday, October 21.

Southbound Blue Line customers will board trains on the northbound side of the platforms at Montrose and Irving Park stations.

SundayNorthbound Blue Line customers will board trains on the southbound side of the platforms at Halsted, Clinton and LaSalle stations.

Tuesday
A single track will be in effect between the Kedzie and Pulaski stations on the Forest Park branch of the Blue Line from 11 p.m. Tuesday, October 23 until 4 a.m. Wednesday, October 24.

Southbound customers will board trains on the northbound side of the platforms at the Kedzie-Homan station.

Jarvis Stairway Temporarily Closed
The north stairway leading from the mezzanine to the platform at the Red Line's Jarvis station will be temporarily closed for repairs from 6 a.m. Saturday, October 20 until5 a.m. Monday, October 22.

Customers must use the south stairway to access the platform.

CTA Provides Service to Concerts at United Center
The Chicago Transit Authority will operate its #19 United Center Express buses for the Van Halen concert on Thursday, October 18 and the Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band concert on Sunday, October 21 and Monday, October 22.

On their respective dates, the concerts start at 7:30 p.m. at the United Center. The #19 buses will begin their trips south on Michigan from Superior at 5:30 p.m. Buses will operate approximately every 12 minutes until the last bus leaves at
7 p.m.

For one hour after the concert ends, #19 buses will await customers on the north side of the United Center eastbound on Madison at Wood near Gate 3, departing approximately every 15 minutes.

Buses Undergo Reroute on Belmont
#77 Belmont buses will be rerouted from 9:15 p.m. each night until 5 a.m. each morning from Thursday, October 18 through Saturday morning, October 20. Buses will operate in both directions via Belmont, Sheffield, Addison, Halsted then return to Belmont and resume the regular route.

Downtown Streets Close for Halloween Parade
State Street will be closed between Lake and Monroe, Monroe will be closed between State and Dearborn, and Dearborn will be closed between Monroe and Randolph from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, October 20 for the Halloween Parade.

Fourteen CTA bus routes that operate in the immediate vicinity of the parade will be temporarily rerouted to adjacent streets.

Buses Reroute for Construction Projects
Several construction projects throughout the city will cause temporary reroutes on the following CTA bus routes:

95th Street and Vincennes
95th Street at Vincennes will be closed from 6 a.m. Wednesday, October 24 until 4 p.m. Wednesday, October 31 due to construction.

#9 Ashland and 95W ? West 95th buses will operate in both directions via 95th, Genoa, 97th, Vincennes then return to 95th and resume the regular route.

#112 Vincennes/111th buses will operate in both directions via 95th, Genoa, 97th, then return to Vincennes and resume the regular route.

Damen at Armitage
Damen at Armitage is closed until 6 a.m. October 28 due to construction. #50 Damen buses are rerouting in both directions via Armitage, Ashland, Elston, Webster then return to Damen and resume the regular route.

Yates at 71st Street
Yates will be closed from 6 a.m. Wednesday, October 24 until 4 p.m. Wednesday, October 31. #71 - 71st/South Shore buses that travel to 73rd and Exchange will operate in both directions via 71st, Yates, 73rd, Exchange then return to 71st and resume the regular route.

Northbound #71 ? 71st/South Shore buses that travel to 112th and Torrence will travel over the regular route to Exchange then will operate via Exchange, 71st, Yates then return to 71st and resume the regular route.

71st at Dante
Westbound #71 ? 71st/South Shore buses will rerouted at 71st and Dante due to repair work. Buses will travel over the regular route to Harper, then will operate via Harper, 70th, Dorchester then return to 71st and resume the regular route.

Division at Kolmar
Division will be closed at Kolmar from 9 a.m. Monday, October 22 until 3 p.m. Friday. October 26. #70 Division buses will operate in both directions via Division, Cicero, Augusta, Kostner then return to Division and resume the regular route.

Fullerton
Fullerton at the Red Line station will be closed from 5 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday, October 20. Eastbound #74 Fullerton buses will travel over the regular route to Sheffield then will operate via Sheffield, Webster, Lincoln, Sheffield then return to Fullerton and resume the regular route.

Buses Reroute for AIBA Championship Procession
Several downtown streets will be closed between 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. for the AIBA Boxing Championship Procession. Twenty downtown CTA bus routes will be impacted by the closures and will undergo intermittent reroutes to adjacent streets around the parade area. The routes include:

Bus Stop Changes
The eastbound far side bus stop on Roosevelt at Halsted that is served by the #12 Roosevelt and #127 Roosevelt/Madison Circulator routes will be temporarily relocated to a near side stop until Wednesday, November 14 due to a construction project.

The northbound near side bus stop on Jefferson at Randolph that is served by the #56 Milwaukee route has been eliminated. Customers can board buses at Washington or Lake streets.

The northbound far side bus stop on Mies van der Rohe at Pearson and the northbound near side bus stop on Mies van der Rohe at Chestnut will be eliminated and replaced by a new stop located mid-block between Pearson and Chestnut. The new stop will serve #10 Museum of Science & Industry, #125 Water Tower Express and #157 Streeterville buses.
