Events Affecting CTA Service Beginning Weekend of May 24 – 26

Note: All CTA service will operate on a Sunday schedule on Memorial Day, Monday, May 28.

Southbound Red Line Subway Trains to Temporarily Reroute to Elevated Tracks Friday Night
Southbound Red Line trains that normally operate through the subway will reroute to the elevated tracks Friday night. Southbound service on the Red Line between the Fullerton station and the Cermak-Chinatown station will be rerouted from the subway to the elevated tracks from 9 p.m., Friday, May 25 until 5 a.m. Saturday, May 26 due to planned construction and maintenance work.

Southbound Red Line trains will operate normally between the Fullerton and Howard stations and between the 95th Street and Cermak/Chinatown stations. Northbound Red Line service is not affected.

Customers are asked to allow extra travel time.

Rerouted southbound trains will stop at the following elevated stations between Cermak/Chinatown and Fullerton: Sedgwick, Chicago/Franklin, Merchandise Mart, Clark/Lake, State/Lake, Randolph/Wabash, Madison/Wabash, Adams/Wabash and Roosevelt/Wabash. Please note, the Merchandise Mart station is available as an exit only (via stairway) on from 1 a.m. to
5 a.m.

Customers who wish to travel southbound from downtown stations can access southbound Red Line trains at any of the elevated stations along Wabash or Lake streets. Customers who wish to travel southbound from the Grand, Chicago, Clark/Division or North/Clybourn Red Line stations can board a northbound train and exit at Lake to access southbound Red Line trains at the State/Lake elevated station.

Southbound customers who wish to exit at the Grand, Chicago, Clark/Division or North/Clybourn stations should travel to the Roosevelt station and board a northbound Red Line train.

Northbound Red Line service is not affected.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Blue Line Over Weekend
A single track will be in effect between the Pulaski and Kedzie-Homan stations from 11 p.m., Thursday, May 24 until 4 a.m., Friday, May 25. Customers must board trains on the northbound side of the platform at these stations.

A single track will be in effect between the Racine and LaSalle stations from 11 p.m., Friday, May 25 until 6 a.m., Saturday, May 26. Customers at the UIC-Halsted, Clinton and LaSalle stations must board trains on the southbound side of the platform.

A single track will be in effect between the Grand and LaSalle stations from 10 p.m., Saturday, May 26 until 7 a.m., Sunday, May 27. All customers at the Lake, Washington, Monroe and Jackson stations must board trains on the northbound side of the platform.

A single track will be in effect between the LaSalle and Grand stations from 11 p.m., Tuesday, May 29 until 4 a.m., Wednesday, May 30. All customers at the Jackson, Monroe, Washington and Clark/Lake stations must board trains on the southbound side of the platform.

Memorial Day Parade Closes Downtown Streets Saturday

State Street and its cross streets from Wacker Drive to Van Buren will be closed from 9:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, May 26 for the Memorial Day Parade.

Buses on the #6 Jackson Park Express, #10 Museum of Science & Industry, #14 Jeffery Express, #20 Madison, #29 State, #36 Broadway, #56 Milwaukee, #60 Blue Island/26th, #62 Archer, #124 Navy Pier, #126 Jackson, #130 Grant Park Treasures, #145 Wilson/ Michigan Express, #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express, #147 Outer Drive Express and #151 Sheridan may experience intermittent service delays and may be rerouted to adjacent streets during the parade. Customers should allow extra travel time.

Lake Shore Drive Closes for Bike the Drive Sunday
Lake Shore Drive between Bryn Mawr and 57th Street will be closed from 4 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. for Bike the Drive. The ride begins and ends in Grant Park at Columbus and Balbo. Several CTA bus routes will be rerouted during the event.

#6 Jackson Park Express buses will operate in both directions via Lake Park, 47th Street, King Drive, Cermak, Michigan, then resume the regular route.

#10 Museum of Science & Industry buses will operate in both directions via Balbo, Michigan, Cermak, King Drive, 47th, Lake Park, 56th, Stony Island, 57th, Cornell to the west parking lot of the museum.

#12 Roosevelt buses will operate in both directions via Michigan, 14th, Indiana and Roosevelt. #12 buses will not travel east of Indiana to the Museum Campus. Customers wishing to go to the Museum Campus should get off the #12 bus at Roosevelt and Michigan and walk one block north to the pedestrian walkway at 11th and Michigan.

Northbound #14 Jeffery Express buses will operate via Jeffery, 67th Street, Cottage Grove, 35th Street, Indiana, 31st Street to Michigan, then resume the regular route. Southbound #14 Jeffery Express buses will operate via Monroe, Michigan, 47th Street, Lake Park, 56th Street, Stony Island, 67th Street to Jeffery, then resume the regular route.

#55 Garfield buses will operate in both directions via 55th Street, Lake Park to 47th.

#81 Lawrence buses will operate in both directions via Lawrence, Clarendon, Wilson, Marine Drive to Lawrence then resume the regular route.

#84 Peterson buses will operate in both directions via Bryn Mawr, Sheridan, Foster, Broadway, Berwyn, Sheridan to Bryn Mawr then resume the regular route. #145 Wilson/Michigan Express and #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express buses will operate in both directions via Melrose, Inner Lake Shore Drive, Sheridan, Stockton, LaSalle, Inner Lake Shore Drive and Michigan, then resume the regular route.

#145 Wilson/Michigan Express and #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express buses will operate in both directions via Melrose, Inner Lake Shore Drive, Sheridan, Stockton, LaSalle, Inner Lake Shore Drive and Michigan, then resume the regular route.

Howard Street Closes for Station Platform Work Friday Evening
Beginning at 7 p.m. Friday, May 25 until 5 a.m. Tuesday,
May 29, Howard Street will close westbound between Paulina and Clark for station platform work at the Howard station. Westbound #201 Central/Ridge buses will operate via Rogers, Sheridan, Howard, back to Rogers to the Howard Terminal, then resume the regular route. This same street closure and reroute will take place from 7:30 p.m. until 5 a.m. on Tuesday, May 29, Wednesday, May 30 and Thursday, May 31.

Street Closures Through Next Week
35th Street will be closed from Damen to Paulina for the McKinley Park Memorial Day Parade from 5 a.m. until the parade ends on Monday, May 28. Eastbound #35 35th buses will operate via 35th Street, Archer, Ashland to 35th street, then resume the regular route.

Bryn Mawr will be closed from 10 a.m. to noon on Monday, May 28 for a Memorial Day parade. Northbound #50 Damen buses will operate via Foster, Clark, Catalpa to Ashland and resume their regular route.

106th Street will be closed at the Calumet River from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 29. #26 South Shore Express and #100 Jeffery Manor Express buses will operate in both directions via 106th, Muskegon, Commercial, 100th and Avenue L, then resume the regular route.

Division will be closed at the North Branch of the Chicago River from 12:01 a.m. until 6 a.m., Tuesday, May 29 and again in the same location, during the same hours on Thursday, May 31. Eastbound #70 Division buses will operate via Division, Hooker, Halsted to Division, then resume the regular route.

Adams will be closed at the Chicago River for bridgework from 9:30 p.m., Thursday, June 7 until 6 a.m., Friday, June 8. Westbound #7 Harrison, #126 Jackson and #156 LaSalle buses will operate via Adams, Wacker, Van Buren, Canal to Adams, then resume the regular route. Westbound #151 Sheridan buses will operate via Adams, Wacker, Van Buren, Canal to Jackson, then resume the regular route.

CTA Provides Service to Chicago's Beaches
The Chicago Transit Authority will provide service to area beaches on the #63 63rd, #72 North and the #78 Montrose bus routes this summer beginning Saturday, May 26. Buses along the routes will service beaches from 9 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. During non-beach hours, the buses will travel to their regular terminals. (See separate release.)

Improved CTA Service to Museum of Science and Industry Beginning Saturday
The CTA is providing more frequent weekend service on its #10 Museum of Science and Industry bus route to serve the museum, beginning Saturday, May 26. Buses will operate every 15 minutes on weekends and Memorial Day, until Saturday, June 16. Weekday service on this route will begin on Tuesday, May 29, and will operate every 15 minutes in peak direction and every 30 minutes in off-peak direction.

#124 Navy Pier Bus Route Hours Extended beginning Friday
#124 Navy Pier bus service between Downtown and Navy Pier will operate until 11:30 p.m. from Union Station and until midnight from Navy Pier, beginning Friday, May 25.
