Slow Zone Work
Northbound Red Line Trains to Temporarily Reroute to Elevated Tracks
While work is under way to eliminate slow zones, northbound Red Line trains that normally operate through the subway between the Cermak-Chinatown and Fullerton stations will reroute to the elevated tracks from 9 p.m. Friday,
March 28 until 5 a.m. Monday, March 31.
Elevated stations are located within a block of Red Line subway stations in the Loop. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Red Line trains will operate normally between the Fullerton and Howard stations and between the 95th and Cermak-Chinatown stations.

Rerouted trains will stop at the following elevated stations between Cermak-Chinatown and Fullerton: Roosevelt/Wabash, Adams/Wabash, Madison/Wabash, Randolph/Wabash, State/Lake, Clark/Lake, Merchandise Mart, Chicago/Franklin and Sedgwick. The Merchandise Mart station is available as an exit only (via stairway) on Saturday morning from 1 a.m. to
5 a.m. and Sunday morning from 12:50 a.m. to 7:10 a.m.

Next Week
Southbound Red Line trains will be rerouted to the elevated tracks from 9 p.m. each night until 5 a.m. the following morning beginning Monday, March 31 through Friday morning, April 4.

Red Line trains will operate normally between the Howard and Fullerton stations and between the Cermak-Chinatown and 95th stations.

Rerouted trains will stop at the following elevated stations between Fullerton and Cermak-Chinatown: Sedgwick, Chicago/Franklin, Merchandise Mart, Clark/Lake, State/Lake, Randolph/Wabash, Madison/Wabash, Adams/Wabash and Roosevelt/Wabash.

Weekend Blue Line Service from Jefferson Park to Cumberland Temporarily Suspended
Work to eliminate slow zones on the O'Hare branch of the Blue Line resumes this weekend.

Rail service between the Jefferson Park and Cumberland Blue Line stations will be temporarily suspended from 9 p.m. Friday, March 28 to 3 a.m. Monday, March 31 in order to replace deteriorated rail ties, tie plates and spikes.

Bus shuttles will operate as a substitute for rail service between the Jefferson Park, Harlem and Cumberland stations. Extra travel time is advisable.

Red and Brown Line Trains Temporarily Reroute at Fullerton
From 4 a.m. Saturday, March 29 until 5 a.m. Sunday, March 30,
Red and Brown Line trains will be temporarily rerouted at Fullerton while crews conduct slow zone work.

During this time, northbound Red and Brown Line customers must board and exit trains where southbound Red Line trains normally stop.

Southbound Red Line customers at Fullerton must board and exit trains on the southbound Brown Line side of the platform.

During the same hours, northbound Brown Line trains will be unable to stop at Wellington. Northbound Brown Line customers who wish to exit at Wellington should exit at Belmont and board a southbound train back to Wellington. Northbound customers boarding at Wellington should board a southbound train and exit at Fullerton to transfer to a northbound train.

Northbound Red Line Trains Temporarily Reroute at Sheridan
Northbound Red Line trains will be temporarily rerouted to operate on the Purple Express tracks from 7 a.m. until
3:30 p.m. Saturday, March 29 and Sunday, March 30.

During these times, northbound customers at Sheridan will board and exit trains on the Purple Express side of the platform.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Other Events Affecting Service
Brown Line Stations Reopen

On Sunday, March 30, the Southport station on the Brown Line will reopen at 5 a.m. and a temporary station will open at Diversey at 7 a.m. while the Wellington and Paulina stations will close for renovation.

In addition, southbound three track operation will begin at Belmont and Fullerton on Sunday, March 30.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on O'Hare Branch of Blue Line
A single track will be in effect between the Division and Grand stations on the Blue Line from 11 p.m. Friday, March 28 until 4 a.m. Saturday, March 29.

Southbound customers at the Division, Chicago and Grand stations must board and exit trains on the northbound side of the platform.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Single Track in Effect on Blue Line This Weekend
A single track will be in effect between the Western and Damen stations from 10 p.m. on Saturday, March 29 until 8 a.m. Sunday, March 30.

Southbound Blue Line customers at Western and Damen must board and exit trains on the northbound platform.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Howard Station Construction
The southbound platform at the Howard Red Line station will be temporarily out of service for construction work from 11 p.m. Friday, March 28 until 4 a.m. Monday, March 31. Customers must board trains from the northbound platform.

#201 Central/Ridge buses will temporarily reroute from 7 p.m. Friday, March 28 until5 a.m. Monday, March 31. Buses will operate via Ashland, Howard, Rogers, Sheridan, Howard and Rogers to Howard via the Howard Terminal. Customers will board westbound buses at Ashland/Howard.

Weekend Service Begins on Yellow Line on Sunday
Beginning March 30, weekend service will be available on the Yellow Line. Yellow Line trains will operate at 15 minute intervals on Saturdays and Sundays from 6:10 a.m. to
11:15 p.m.

Northeast Entrance to Grand Red Line Station Temporarily Closed
The northeast and southwest entrance to the Grand Red Line station has been temporarily closed due to the reconstruction of the Grand station mezzanine and platform.

Customers can access the station from the southeast and northwest entrances.

Wilson Station Entrance Temporarily Closed
The main entrance to the Wilson Red Line station will be temporarily closed from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday, March 29 for repairs.

Customers can access the station via the auxiliary entrance at 1109 West Wilson (the south side of Wilson).

Buses Reroute for Bangladesh Parade
Devon will be closed from Damen to Western and Western will be closed from Devon to Pratt from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, March 29 for the Bangladesh Parade.

Eastbound #155 Devon buses will travel over the regular route to California then will operate via California, Touhy, Clark, Morse to Ashland and then resume the regular route. Westbound buses will travel over the regular route to Ridge then will operate via Ridge, Touhy, California then return to Devon and resume the regular route.

Northbound #49 Western buses will travel over the regular route to Peterson then will operate via Peterson, California, Touhy then return to Western and resume the regular route.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Shamrock Shuffle Race May Cause Intermittent Service Delays Sunday Morning
The LaSalle Bank Shamrock Shuffle 8-K Run may cause intermittent service delays on 21 CTA bus routes Sunday, March 30. Participants will assemble at Columbus between Roosevelt and Balbo at 8:30 a.m. and the race begins at
9:30 a.m. The race course is north on Columbus to Grand, west to State, south to Jackson, west to Jefferson, south to Harrison, east to Michigan, south to Roosevelt, east to Columbus and north to the finish line on Columbus.

Buses on the #3 King Drive, #4 Cottage Grove, #6 Jackson Park Express, #10 Museum of Science & Industry, #12 Roosevelt, #14 Jeffery Express, #20 Madison, #22 Clark, #29 State, #36 Broadway, #56 Milwaukee, #60 Blue Island/26th, #62 Archer, #65 Grand, #66 Chicago, #124 Navy Pier, #126 Jackson, #145 Wilson/Michigan Express,

#146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express, #147 Outer Drive Express and #151 Sheridan routes will be affected by the race.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Greek Independence Parade to Reroute Buses on Sunday
From 12:45 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 30, Randolph Street between Halsted and May will be closed for the Greek Independence Parade. The parade route is south on Halsted to Van Buren.

Northbound #8 Halsted buses will travel over the regular route to Harrison then will operate via Harrison, Jefferson, Fulton then return to Halsted and resume the regular route. Southbound buses will travel over the regular route to Fulton then will operate via Fulton, Desplaines, Harrison then return to Halsted and resume the regular route.

Eastbound #20 Madison buses will travel over the regular route to Racine then will operate via Racine, Lake, Desplaines to Washington and then resume the regular route. Westbound buses will travel over the regular route to Jefferson then will operate via Jefferson, Lake, Racine then return to Madison and resume the regular route.

Eastbound #126 Jackson buses will travel over the regular route to Harrison then will operate via Harrison, Jefferson to Jackson and then resume the regular route. Westbound buses will travel over the regular route to Clinton then will operate via Clinton to Harrison and then resume the regular route.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

#19 United Center Express Serves Bulls and Blackhawks Games
CTA will operate its #19 United Center Express buses on the following dates and times:

  • Saturday, March 29 at 7:30 p.m. " Bulls versus Milwaukee Bucks
  • Sunday, March 30 at 6 p.m. " Blackhawks versus Columbus Blue Jackets
  • Tuesday, April 1 at 7:30 p.m. " Bulls versus Boston Celtics
  • Wednesday, April 2 at 7:30 p.m. " Blackhawks versus Detroit Red Wings

Buses will leave every 12 minutes from Michigan and Superior starting two hours before game time until 30 minutes before the game begins. When the game ends, #19 buses will depart the United Center approximately every 15 minutes for one hour.

#19 buses will make all stops on Michigan from Superior to Washington, and on Madison from Wabash to Clinton. From Clinton, #19 buses run express to the United Center.

After the game, #19 buses will await customers on the north side of the United Center eastbound on Madison near Gate 3. On the return trip, #19 buses operate through downtown east on Washington to Wacker, then head south to Monroe and east to Michigan, making all stops to Michigan before turning north on Michigan and making all stops from Randolph to Chicago.

CTA Provides Service to Wrigley Field for the 2008 Baseball Season
CTA provides a convenient and affordable travel option for baseball fans in Chicago heading to Wrigley Field. The Chicago Cubs home opener is Monday, March 31 at1:20 p.m. versus the Milwaukee Brewers.

CTA recommends customers heading to Wrigley Field allow extra travel time during the upcoming baseball season due to three-track operation at the Belmont and Fullerton stations.

As a result of three-track operation, southbound Purple Line Express trains will stop at Sheridan station for weekday night games during normal operating hours, but will not stop at Addison station.

The Red Line provides direct service to Wrigley Field via the accessible station at Addison and the Sheridan station is a short walk away from the ballpark. Fans can transfer to Red Line trains from all other rail lines and from most east-west bus routes.

Beginning March 30, weekend service will be available on the Yellow Line. Yellow Line trains will operate at 15-minute intervals on Saturdays and Sundays from 6:10 a.m. to 11:15 p.m.

Several CTA bus routes also provide convenient service directly to Wrigley Field: #8 Halsted; #22 Clark; and the #152 Addison. The #154 Wrigley Field Express buses operate for all night and weekend games for fans who wish to combine driving and public transit to travel to the games.

#10 Museum of Science & Industry Bus Extends Hours for Spring Break Service
To accommodate longer spring break hours at the Museum of Science & Industry, #10 Museum of Science & Industry buses will operate later through Sunday, March 30 and will operate approximately every 15 minutes.

Buses Reroute at Brown Line Stations
From 5:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, Diversey Avenue will be closed at the Brown Line station due to construction work.

#76 Diversey buses will operate in both directions via Diversey, Sheffield, Fullerton, Halsted then return to Diversey and resume the regular route.

In addition, #77 Belmont buses will be rerouted from 9:15 p.m. Friday, March 28 until5 a.m. Saturday, March 29.

#77 buses will operate in both directions via Belmont, Sheffield, Addison, Halsted then return to Belmont and resume the regular route.

Buses Undergo Reroute on State Street
#36 Broadway and southbound #29 State buses are rerouting until further notice at Grand and State Street due to construction on the Red Line's Grand station.

Southbound #36 Broadway and #29 buses will travel over the regular route to Grand then will operate via Clark to Kinzie then return to State and resume the regular route.

Northbound #36 Broadway buses will travel over the regular route to Dearborn then will operate via Dearborn, Ohio then return to State and resume the regular route.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

In addition, the southeast and southwest entrances to the Grand subway station will be closed temporarily. Customers can access the station through the northwest and northeast entrances nearby.

Stairway Temporarily Closed at Granville
From 5 a.m. Saturday, March 29 until 4 a.m. Monday, March 31 the stairway leading from the mezzanine to the platform level at the Granville Red Line station will be temporarily closed.

Customers can access the platform via other nearby stairways.

Buses Reroute Downtown for Construction
From 9 p.m. each night until 6 a.m. the following morning on Saturday, March 29 and Sunday, March 30, Randolph will be closed from State to Dearborn.

Northbound #22 Clark, #36 Broadway and #62 Archer buses will travel over the regular route to Washington then will operate via Dearborn, Monroe, State, Wacker to Dearborn and then resume the regular route.

In addition, Dearborn is closed between Washington and Randolph from 9 p.m. each day until 6 a.m. the following morning through Saturday, November 1.

Northbound #22 Clark, #36 Broadway and #62 Archer buses will travel over their regular routes and then will operate via Washington, State, Wacker then return to Dearborn and resume the regular route.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Downtown Bridge Lift Reroutes Buses
The Dearborn Bridge over the Chicago River will be closed from 9:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Monday, March 31.

Northbound #22 Clark, #36 Broadway and #62 Archer buses will travel over the regular route to Wacker then will operate via Wacker, LaSalle, Kinzie; #22 Clark and #36 Broadway buses will then travel to Dearborn and resume the regular route while #62 Archer buses will travel from Kinzie to State to resume the regular route.

Bridge Construction Reroutes Buses
Buses along the #174 University of Chicago/Garfield Stations route will be on 57th Street between Ellis and Drexel avenues due to bridge construction until Monday, March 31.

Eastbound buses will travel over the regular route through Washington Park to 55th then will operate via 55th, Ellis then return to 57th and resume the regular route.

Halsted Buses Reroute Downtown for Construction
Halsted between Jackson and Van Buren will be closed due to emergency street repairs beginning at 6 a.m. Monday,
March 31 through Monday, April 14.

Northbound #8 Halsted buses will travel over the regular route to Van Buren then will operate via Van Buren, Morgan, Jackson then return to Halsted and resume the regular route.

Southbound buses will travel over the regular route to Jackson then will operate via Jackson, Desplaines, Van Buren then return to Halsted and resume the regular route.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Buses Rerouted Due To Construction Through May 10
Westbound #170 University of Chicago/Midway and #192 University of Chicago Hospitals Express buses continue to be rerouted until May 10 due to construction on 59th Street at Drexel.

#170 buses will travel over the regular route to Ellis then will operate via Ellis, Midway Plaisance, Drexel to Cottage Grove and then resume the regular route.

#192 University of Chicago Hospitals Express buses will travel over the regular route to Ellis then will operate via Ellis, Midway Plaisance, Drexel, Midway Plaisance then return to Cottage Grove and resume the regular route.

A temporary stop has been placed on Drexel to accommodate the service.

Buses Reroute for Construction Through September
#87 87th buses continue to be rerouted in both directions until
5 a.m. Wednesday, September 17 due to street reconstruction.

Eastbound buses will travel over the regular route to Vincennes then will operate via Vincennes, 83rd, Lafayette then return to 87th and resume the regular route. Westbound buses will travel over the regular route to State then will operate via State, 83rd, Vincennes then return to 87th and resume the regular route.

Division Reroute Continues
Westbound #70 Division buses continue to undergo reroutes due to street repairs at Division and Kolmar.

Buses will travel over the regular route to Kostner then will operate via Kostner, Augusta, Cicero then return to Division and resume the regular route.
