Events Affecting CTA Service Beginning Weekend of June 9 - 11

CTA to provide extra service for upcoming concerts and events 

The Chicago Transit Authority will provide more frequent rail service for upcoming events including the 2017 Blues Festival at Grant Park, Dave Matthews Band concert at the Huntington Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island and the Ribfest Chicago on Lincoln Avenue. CTA will also provide more frequent rail and bus service for Spring Awakening at Addams/Medill Park.

Rail Service

To accommodate larger crowds traveling to and from events throughout the city this weekend, the CTA will operate longer trains along the Blue, Brown, Orange and Pink lines during the following times:

Friday, June 9:

  • Blue Line: Longer trains after the evening rush until 11:30 p.m.
  • Brown Line: Longer trains after the evening rush until midnight.
  • Pink Line: Longer trains from 3 p.m. until midnight
  • Orange Line: Longer trains after the evening rush until 11:30 p.m.

 

Saturday, June 10 and Sunday, June 11:

  • Blue Line: Longer trains from 11 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
  • Brown Line: Longer trains from 11 a.m. to midnight
  • Pink Line: Longer trains from 11 a.m. to midnight
  • Orange Line: Longer trains from 11 a.m. until 11:30 p.m.

 

Customers should allow extra travel time and consider purchasing fares in advance via Ventrachicago.com or via the free Ventra app when heading to/from the following events:

 Chicago Blues Festival

To accommodate those heading to and from the Chicago Blues Fest at Grant Park this weekend, longer trains will operate along the Blue, Brown, Orange and Pink lines. Festival-goers traveling along the Red or Blue lines should exit at Jackson and customers taking the elevated lines (Brown, Green, Orange and Pink) should exit at Adams/Wabash.

2017 Spring Awakening

For those attending the 2017 Spring Awakening music festival at Addams/Medill Park, additional bus service will be provided on the #9 Ashland and #12 Roosevelt routes until approximately one hour after the event ends each night. The festival is also just a few blocks away from both the Polk and 18th Pink Line stations.

Ribfest Chicago 

Those traveling to the annual Ribfest Chicago on Lincoln Avenue this weekend can get there by exiting at the Irving Park Brown Line station, which is approximately one block east of the event, or exiting at the Sheridan Red Line station and taking a westbound #80 Irving Park bus.

Separately, some bus routes in the immediate area may be temporarily rerouted due to street closures. Customers are advised to plan ahead and check individual bus schedules at www.transitchicago.com/alerts.

Dave Matthews Band and Tim Reynolds concert at Northerly Island

To accommodate those heading to and from the Dave Matthews Band and Tim Reynolds concert at Northerly Island this weekend, CTA will be providing extra bus service both Saturday and Sunday. Additional service will be provided on the #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express and the #130 Museum Campus beginning at approximately 5 p.m. until start of the concert and then one hour after the event ends.
