Slow Zone Work
Red Line Subway Trains Temporarily Rerouted to Elevated Tracks This Weekend
Service on the Red Line between the Fullerton and Cermak-Chinatown stations will be temporarily rerouted in both directions from the subway to the elevated tracks from 9 p.m. Friday, June 6 until 3 a.m. Monday, June 9.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Bus shuttle service will also be available between select Red and Brown Line stations.

Next Week
Northbound Red Line trains will be rerouted to the elevated tracks from 9 p.m. each night until 5 a.m. the following morning beginning Monday, June 9 through Friday morning, June 13.

Northbound Red Line trains will operate normally between the 95th and Cermak-Chinatown stations and between the Fullerton and Howard stations.

Rerouted northbound trains will stop at the following elevated stations between Cermak-Chinatown and Fullerton: Roosevelt/Wabash, Adams/Wabash, Madison/Wabash, Randolph/Wabash, State/Lake, Clark/Lake, Merchandise Mart, Chicago/Franklin, Sedgwick and Armitage.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Red Line Trains Temporarily Rerouted at Fullerton
Northbound Red Line trains will be temporarily rerouted to operate on Brown Line tracks at the Fullerton station from 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10. Northbound customers must board and exit trains from the Brown Line side of the platform.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Red Line Trains Temporarily Rerouted at Fullerton and Belmont
Northbound Red Line trains will be temporarily rerouted to operate on the Brown Line tracks from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. each day beginning Wednesday, June 11 through Friday, June 13.

During this time, northbound customers at Fullerton and Belmont must board and exit trains from the northbound Brown Line side of the platform.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Weekend Single Track in Effect on O'Hare Branch of the Blue Line
From 11 p.m. until 7 a.m. the following morning beginning Friday evening, June 6 and then again Saturday evening, June 7,
a single track will be in effect between the Jefferson Park and Harlem Blue Line stations. Northbound customers at the Jefferson Park station must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Late Night Single Track on O'Hare Branch of the Blue Line Continues Next Week
A late night single track will be in effect between the Jefferson Park and Harlem Blue Line stations next week from 8 p.m. until 4 a.m. the following morning beginning Monday, June 9 through Thursday morning, June 12. Northbound customers at the Jefferson Park station must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform.

CTA operators will announce the direction of each train. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Southbound Single Track in Effect on O'Hare Branch of the Blue Line
From 8 p.m. Thursday, June 12 until 4 a.m. the following morning,
a single track will be in effect for southbound Blue Line trains between the Harlem and Jefferson Park stations. Southbound customers at the Harlem and Jefferson Park stations must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Brown Line Trains Temporarily Reroute at Fullerton and Belmont Stations
From 10:30 p.m. Friday, June 6 until noon Saturday, June 7,
northbound Brown Line trains will be temporarily rerouted between Fullerton and Belmont while crews do work associated with the new stations at Fullerton and Belmont. Northbound customers must board and exit trains from the Red Line side of the platform.

During this time, northbound Brown Line trains will be unable to stop at Diversey. Northbound Brown Line customers wanting to exit at Diversey should instead exit at Belmont and board a southbound train to Diversey. Customers at Diversey traveling northbound should board a southbound train and exit at Fullerton to board a northbound train.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Weekend Single Track in Effect on Brown Line
A single track will be in effect for southbound Brown Line trains between the Addison and Southport stations from 4 a.m. Saturday, June 7 until 8 p.m. Sunday, June 8.

During this time, southbound customers at the Addison and Southport stations must board and exit trains from the northbound platform.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Late Night Single Track in Effect for Brown Line Next Week
A single track will be in effect for southbound Brown Line trains between the Addison and Southport stations from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. the following morning beginning Monday, June 9 through Friday morning, June 13.

During this time, southbound customers at the Addison and Southport stations must board and exit trains from the northbound platform.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Blue Line - Other Events Affecting Service
Late Night Single Track in Effect for Blue Line Subway Sunday Night
From 11 p.m. Sunday, June 8 until 4 a.m. the following morning,
a single track will be in effect for northbound Blue Line subway trains between the LaSalle and Grand stations. During this time, Blue Line customers at the Jackson, Monroe, Washington and Clark/Lake stations must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Green Line - Other Events Affecting Service
Late Night Single Track in Effect on Green Line Sunday Night
From 10 p.m. Sunday, June 8 until 4 a.m. Monday, June 9,
a single track will be in effect between the Austin and Laramie Green Line stations for track maintenance and repair work.

Southbound customers at the Central station must board and exit trains from the northbound side of platform.

Southbound customers at the Laramie station must board and exit trains on the northbound platform.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Green Line Next Week
A single track will be in effect next week between the Harlem and Austin Green Line stations as crews continue track maintenance and repair work. From 10 p.m. until 4 a.m. the following morning beginning Monday, June 9 through Friday morning, June 13.

Southbound customers at the Oak Park, Ridgeland and Austin stations must board and exit trains from the northbound side of platform.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Red/Purple Line - Other Events Affecting Service
Paulina Street Entrance at Howard Re-Opens
Rehabilitation work on the Howard Red Line station Paulina Street entrance is complete and the station will be open to customers for the morning rush on Monday, June 9.

With the addition of new elevators and escalators ? among other amenities ? at the Howard station, 81 out of 144 CTA rail station are now accessible to customers with disabilities.

The Howard station is a major transportation center serving transit customers on the CTA's Red, Purple and Yellow Lines, seven CTA bus routes and two Pace bus routes.

Weekend Platform Closure at Howard
Due to construction work associated with the Howard Terminal Rehabilitation project, the west platform, where southbound customers normally board and exit, will be out of service from 11 p.m. Friday, June 6 until 4 a.m. Monday, June 9.

During this time, all Red and Purple Line customers must board and exit trains from the east platform, where northbound customers normally board.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Yellow Line - Other Events Affecting Service
Weekend Yellow Line Service Temporarily Interrupted for Grade Crossing Repairs
Rail and highway grade crossing replacement work will suspend Yellow Line weekend service and temporarily close the Skokie station, beginning at 11 p.m. Friday, June 6 until 4 a.m. Monday, June 9. Main will be closed between Skokie Boulevard and Niles Center Road, and Searle will be closed between Skokie Boulevard and Niles Avenue.

Customers are advised to use the #97 Skokie bus service as a substitute for Yellow Line service. The CTA will provide additional #97 Skokie buses to accommodate customers.

Customers will be able to transfer to Purple and Red Line trains at Howard station.

New/Updated Changes in Bus Service
#81 Lawrence Buses Rerouted at Broadway
From 10:30 p.m. Thursday, June 5 until 6 a.m. Friday, June 6, #81 Lawrence buses will be rerouted due to a street closure at Lawrence and Broadway.

During this time, #81 buses operating in both directions will travel along Lawrence to Broadway then will operate via Broadway, Wilson, Sheridan to Lawrence and then resume the regular route.

Buses Rerouted Due to Bridge Repair
Jackson Boulevard Bridge
From 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 5 and Friday, June 6, the Jackson Boulevard bridge over the Chicago River will be closed due to bridge repair work. During these times, the following six buses will be temporarily rerouted: #1 Indiana/Hyde Park, #7 Harrison, #X28 Stony Island Express, #126 Jackson, #151 Sheridan and #156 LaSalle.

Southbound #1, #7, #X28, #126, #151 and #156 buses will operate south on Canal to Van Buren then travel via Van Buren, Jefferson, Monroe, Wacker, Jackson and then resume the regular route.

Eastbound #7 and #126 buses will travel over the regular route to Jackson and Canal then operate via Canal, Monroe, Wacker, Jackson and then resume the regular route.

Northbound #156 buses will operate over the regular route along Canal to Monroe then travel via Monroe, Wacker, Jackson and then resume the regular route.

Grand Avenue Bridge
From 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 10 until 2:30 p.m. Thursday, June 12, Grand Avenue Bridge over the Chicago River will be closed due to bridge repair work.

Eastbound #65 Grand buses will operate over the regular route along Grand Avenue to Halsted then travel via Halsted, Chicago, Wells to Illinois then resume the regular route. Westbound #65 buses will travel over the regular route along Grand to Orleans then operate via Orleans, Chicago, Halsted to Grand and then resume the regular route.

Water Main Repairs Temporarily Reroute #78 Montrose Buses
Due to water main repairs, Montrose Avenue will be closed between Damen and Ashland beginning 11 a.m. Friday, June 6 until 6 p.m. Saturday, June 7.

#78 Montrose buses operating in both directions will travel over the regular route along Montrose to Damen then operate via Damen, Wilson, Ashland to Montrose and then resume the regular route.

Bus Service Stop Restored for Monday Morning Commute
Due to water main replacement work, the #135 Clarendon/LaSalle Express, #145 Wilson/Michigan Express and #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express buses will continue to serve the temporary southbound bus stop at Sheridan and Melrose until Monday morning.

Effective at 5 a.m. Monday, June 9, customers may resume boarding of the #135, #145 and #146 buses at the original bus stop located one block south at Lake Shore Drive West and Belmont.

#76 Diversey Buses Rerouted at Brown Line on Saturday
Due to Brown Line rehabilitation work, Diversey Avenue at the Brown Line will be closed from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 7.

During this time, #76 buses operating in both directions will travel over the regular route along Diversey to Sheffield then will operate via Sheffield, Fullerton, Halsted to Diversey and then resume the regular route.

Blues Festival in Grant Park Reroutes Buses
Until 6 a.m. Monday, June 9, Monroe between Michigan Avenue and Lake Shore Drive, and Columbus between Congress and Monroe will be closed to all traffic for the annual Blues Festival in Grant Park.

During this time, the southbound #134 Stockton/LaSalle Express, #135 Clarendon/LaSalle Express and #136 Sheridan/LaSalle Express buses will operate over the regular route along Lake Shore Drive to Randolph then travel via Randolph, Michigan, Van Buren and then resume the regular route.

Bus Reroute for North Center Rib Fest
From 7 p.m. Friday, June 6 until 12:01 a.m. Monday, June 9, Lincoln Avenue between Irving Park Road and Warner Avenue will be closed for the annual North Center Rib Fest.

#11 Lincoln/Sedgwick buses operating in both directions will travel over the regular route along Lincoln to Montrose then will operate via Montrose, Damen, Lincoln and then resume the regular route.

Buses Rerouted for 18th Annual San Juan 8K Race
From 7 a.m. until approximately 11 a.m. on Sunday, June 8, California between North Avenue and Division, and Division between California and Kedzie will be blocked due to the annual San Juan 8K Race.

#52 Kedzie/California buses operating in both directions will travel over the regular route along California to Division then will operate via Division, Western, North, California and then resume the regular route.

#70 Division buses operating in both directions will travel over the regular route along Division to Kedzie then will operate via Kedzie, Augusta, California, Division and then resume the regular route.

#47 ? 47th Rerouted This Weekend for the Fiesta Back of the Yards 2008
Beginning at 12:01 a.m. Friday, June 6 until 11:30 p.m. Sunday, June 8, 47th Street between Ashland and Damen will be closed for the annual Fiesta Back of the Yards festival.

During this time, #47 ? 47th buses traveling in both directions will operate the regular route along 47th Street to Damen then travel via Damen, 51st, Ashland, 47th and then resume the regular route.

Additional Service Provided for Men's Soccer Match
CTA will provide additional service for fans heading to the Mexico versus Peru soccer match at Soldier Field on Sunday, June 8. Game time is 7 p.m.

Beginning at 4:30 p.m. more frequent service will operate on the #12 Roosevelt and the #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express routes.

#19 United Center Express Serves Concerts
CTA will operate its #19 United Center Express buses on the following dates and times:

 

  • Friday, June 6 at 7 p.m. " R.E.M. concert
     
  • Monday, June 9 at 7:30 p.m. " RUSH concert

Buses will leave every 12 minutes from Michigan and Superior starting two hours before the concert begins. When the concert ends, #19 buses will depart the United Center approximately every 15 minutes for one hour.

#19 buses will make all stops on Michigan from Superior to Washington, and on Madison from Wabash to Clinton. From Clinton, #19 buses run express to the United Center.

After the concert, #19 buses will await customers on the north side of the United Center eastbound on Madison near Gate 3. On the return trip, #19 buses operate through downtown east on Washington to Wacker, then head south to Monroe and east to Michigan, making all stops to Michigan before turning north on Michigan and making all stops from Randolph to Chicago.

Ongoing Bus Reroutes
Buses Rerouted on Ridge Avenue Due to Road Reconstruction
Due to road reconstruction on Ridge Avenue between Howard Street and Main Street, the #201 Central Ridge and #206 Evanston Circulator buses will be rerouted until 5 a.m. Thursday, July 31.

Southbound #201 and #206 buses will travel along Ridge then will operate via Main, Asbury, Howard, Ridge and then resume the regular route.

Buses Reroute for Construction Through September
#87 87th buses continue to be rerouted in both directions until 5 a.m. Wednesday, September 17 due to street reconstruction.

Eastbound buses will travel over the regular route to Vincennes then will operate via Vincennes, 83rd, Lafayette then return to 87th and resume the regular route. Westbound buses will travel over the regular route to State then will operate via State, 83rd, Vincennes then return to 87th and resume the regular route.

Buses Rerouted on Saturdays for the Near North Farmer's Market
From 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. every Saturday through October 25, Division Street between State and Clark will be closed for the Near North Farmer's Market.

During this time, southbound #36 Broadway buses will travel over the regular route to Clark then will operate via Clark, Maple to State and then resume the regular route. Northbound #36 buses will operate over the regular route to State then will travel via State, Elm to Clark and then resume the regular route.

Eastbound #70 Division buses will travel over the regular route to Division and then will operate via Division, Clark, Maple to Dearborn and resume the regular route. Westbound service is not affected.

Buses Reroute Downtown for Construction
From midnight each night until 6 a.m. the following morning Randolph Street will be closed from State to Dearborn through Saturday, November 1.

In addition, Dearborn Street is closed between Washington and Randolph from 9 p.m. each day until 6 a.m. the following morning through Saturday, November 1.

Northbound #22 Clark, #36 Broadway and #62 Archer buses will travel over the regular route to Washington then will operate via State, Wacker then return to Dearborn and resume the regular route.

Bridge Reconstruction Reroutes Buses
Reroute of #205 Chicago/Golf buses will continue until November 16, due to bridge reconstruction on Emerson between Leland and McCormick.

#205 Buses will operate in both directions via Church, McCormick to Golf and then resume the regular route.

Buses Rerouted on Harrison Due to Construction
Harrison Street between Paulina Street and Ashland Avenue continues to be closed until Thursday, January 1, 2009, due to the construction of the Harrison Street Tunnel. During this time, eastbound #7 Harrison and #126 Jackson buses will be rerouted.

Eastbound #7 buses will travel over the regular route to Paulina then will operate via Polk, Ashland to Harrison and resume the regular route.

Eastbound #126 buses will travel over the regular route to Harrison then will operate via Harrison, Wood, Polk, Ashland to Harrison and resume the regular route.

Buses Reroute at Clark and Polk
Until further notice, #22 Clark and #36 Broadway buses will be rerouted in the area of Clark and Polk streets and will not be providing any service south of Harrison.

Southbound #22 Clark customers traveling to Polk will need to transfer to a #24 Wentworth bus prior to Congress (or a #129 West Loop/South Loop bus available only on weekdays during the morning and evening rush periods) to complete their trip.

Southbound #36 Broadway customers traveling to Polk will need to transfer to a #29 State or #62 Archer bus prior to Congress to complete their trip.

Both northbound #22 and #36 customers can board buses north of Harrison on Dearborn.

Bus Service Changes Due to Construction at State and Grand
#36 Broadway and southbound #29 State buses are rerouting until further notice at Grand Avenue and State Street due to construction at the Red Line's Grand station.

Southbound #36 and #29 buses will travel over the regular route to Grand then will operate via Clark to Illinois then return to State and resume the regular route.

Northbound #36 buses will travel over the regular route to Dearborn then will operate via Dearborn to Ohio, then return to State and resume the regular route.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Buses Reroute Due to Construction
Halsted is closed at Root Street between the hours of 6 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. and again at 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. each day until further notice, due to construction.

#43 43rd buses will operate in both directions via Halsted, 45th Street, Morgan to Exchange and then resume the regular route.

#60 Blue Island/26th Buses Rerouted Due to Lane Closure
Until further notice, Laflin Street between Cermak and 21st Place will be closed to all traffic due to construction at Benito Juarez School.

#60 Blue Island/26th buses operating in both directions will travel over the regular route to Cermak then will operate via Cermak, Loomis, 21st Street then return to Laflin and resume the regular route.
