Events Affecting CTA Service Beginning Weekend of June 27-29

Note: All CTA bus and rail service will operate on a Sunday/holiday schedule Friday, July 4 in commemoration of Independence Day.

Slow Zone Work
Single Track in Effect Between Jefferson Park and Montrose Next Week
A late night single track will be in effect between the Jefferson Park and Montrose Blue Line stations from 11 p.m. Monday, June 30 until 4 a.m. the following morning. Northbound customers at the Montrose station must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform.

CTA operators will announce the direction of each train. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Single Track in Effect on O'Hare Branch of the Blue Line
From 11 p.m. until 4 a.m. the following morning beginning Tuesday, July 1 through Thursday morning, July 3,
a single track will be in effect between the Harlem and Cumberland Blue Line stations. Northbound customers at the Harlem station must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Red Line - Other Events Affecting Service
Red Line Trains Temporarily Rerouted at Fullerton and Belmont Early Next Week
Northbound Red Line trains will be temporarily rerouted to operate on Brown Line tracks at the Fullerton and Belmont stations from 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. each day beginning Monday, June 30 through Wednesday, July 2. Northbound Red Line customers at Fullerton and Belmont must board and exit trains from the northbound Brown Line side of the platform. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Late Night Single Track in Effect for Red Line Subway Next Week
Due to construction work associated with Block 37, a single track will be in effect for northbound Red Line trains between the Roosevelt and Grand stations from 11 p.m. Wednesday, July 2 to 4 a.m. the following morning.

During this time, northbound Red Line customers at Roosevelt, Harrison, Jackson, Monroe and Lake must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform.

CTA operators will announce the direction of each train. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Red Line Trains Temporarily Rerouted at Fullerton on Thursday
From 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, July 3,
northbound Red Line trains will be temporarily rerouted to operate on Brown Line tracks at the Fullerton station. During this time, northbound customers at Fullerton must board and exit trains from the Brown Line side of the platform.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Red/Brown Line - Other Events Affecting Service
Red and Brown Line Trains Temporarily Rerouted at Fullerton
Due to work associated with the Brown Line Capacity Expansion project, southbound Red and Brown Line trains will be temporarily rerouted to operate on the northbound tracks at Fullerton from 11 p.m. to 9 a.m. the following morning beginning Friday, June 27 through Sunday morning, June 29.

Southbound customers at Fullerton must board and exit trains from the northbound Red Line side of the platform. Northbound Red and Brown Line customers must board and exit trains from the northbound Brown Line side of the platform.

During this time, southbound Brown Line trains will be unable to stop at Diversey. Southbound Brown Line customers traveling to Diversey should exit at Fullerton and board a northbound train to Diversey. Customers boarding at Diversey traveling southbound should board a northbound train and exit at Belmont to board a southbound train.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Next Week - Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday Nights
From 11 p.m. Sunday, June 29 to 4 a.m. the following morning, then again on Tuesday evening, July 1 and Wednesday evening, July 2 during the same hours, southbound Red and Brown Line trains will continue to be temporarily rerouted to operate on the northbound tracks at Fullerton.

Southbound customers at Fullerton must board and exit trains from the northbound Red Line side of the platform. Northbound Red and Brown Line customers must board and exit trains from the northbound Brown Line side of the platform.

During this time, southbound Brown Line trains will be unable to stop at Diversey. Southbound Brown Line customers traveling to Diversey should exit at Fullerton and board a northbound train to Diversey. Customers boarding at Diversey traveling southbound should board a northbound train and exit at Belmont to board a southbound train.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Monday Night Reroute of Red and Brown Line Trains at Belmont and Fullerton
While crews continue work associated with the Brown Line Capacity Expansion project, southbound Red and Brown Line trains will be temporarily rerouted to operate on the northbound tracks at the Belmont and Fullerton stations from 11 p.m. Monday, June 30 to 4 a.m. the following morning.

Southbound customers at Belmont and Fullerton must board and exit trains from the northbound Red Line side of the platform. Northbound Red and Brown Line customers at Fullerton and Belmont must board and exit trains from the northbound Brown Line side of the platform.

During this time, southbound Brown Line trains will be unable to stop at Diversey. Southbound Brown Line customers traveling to Diversey should exit at Fullerton and board a northbound train to Diversey. Customers boarding at Diversey traveling southbound should board a northbound train and exit at Belmont to board a southbound train.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Bus and Rail Service for Special Events
Catch a Ride on the CTA to U.S. Cellular Field
North and South Side fans are encouraged to avoid traffic congestion by taking public transit to the South Side for the Sox/Cubs series this weekend. The first game of the three-game series begins Friday, June 27 at 3:05 p.m.; Saturday's game begins at 2:55 p.m.; and Sunday's game starts at 7:05 p.m.

The Red Line provides service to the Sox-35th station, just steps away from U.S. Cellular Field. For direct service to U.S. Cellular Field, customers can also take #35 35th buses, which stop at accessible stations at 35th Street on the Green and Orange Lines, as well as the Red Line.

CTA recommends customers heading to U.S. Cellular Field allow extra travel time due to three-track operation at the Belmont and Fullerton stations as well as increased ridership for the Taste of Chicago.

Additional Service Provided for Taste of Chicago and Fireworks Displays
CTA is encouraging visitors to the 2008 Taste of Chicago at Grant Park to save money on gas by taking public transportation to the event beginning Friday, June 27 through Sunday, July 6. CTA will have extensive bus and rail service available to accommodate the crowds expected to attend the festival.

Longer trains will operate into the Loop until late every night, and extra buses will be available toward the close of each evening's activities.

On Thursday evening, July 3 and Friday evening, July 4, more service will be available for spectators going to Grant Park or Navy Pier for the fireworks displays.

To speed travel and reduce lines, customers are encouraged to buy farecards in advance with sufficient value or to add enough value to their existing farecards (either the Chicago Card or magnetic strip Transit Card) for their return trips later in the day.

Bicycles are not allowed on trains Thursday, July 3.

New/Updated Changes in Bus Service
Late Night Reroute of #74 Fullerton Buses Next Week
From 9 p.m. Friday, June 27 until 6 p.m. Saturday, June 28, Fullerton Avenue at the Brown Line will be closed to all traffic due to work associated with the Brown Line Capacity Expansion project.

Eastbound #74 Fullerton buses will operate along Fullerton to Sheffield and then will travel via Sheffield, Webster, Lincoln, Sheffield to Fullerton and then resume the regular route.

Late Night Reroute of #77 Belmont Buses on Monday
Due to work associated with the Brown Line Capacity Expansion project, Belmont Avenue at the Brown Line will be closed to all traffic from 9 p.m. Monday, June 30 until 5 a.m. the following morning.

During this time, #77 Belmont buses operating in both directions will travel along Belmont to Sheffield and then will travel via Sheffield, Addison, Halsted to Belmont and then resume the regular route.

Halsted Closes for Gay and Lesbian Pride Fest and Parade Beginning Saturday
Halsted will be closed from Addison to Grace, including the CTA bus terminal at Halsted and Waveland, for the Chicago Pride Fest from 3 a.m. Saturday, June 28 until 3 a.m. Sunday, June 29.

During set up, northbound #8 Halsted buses will operate along Halsted to Addison then travel via Addison, Broadway, West Sheridan, Sheridan, Irving Park, Broadway to Waveland, where they will begin their southbound trips via Broadway, Addison, back to Halsted and then resume the regular route.

On Sunday, Halsted will be closed from 11 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. between Fullerton and Broadway for the Gay and Lesbian Pride Parade. Buses operating on the #8 Halsted, #22 Clark, #36 Broadway, #76 Diversey, #77 Belmont, #151 Sheridan and #152 Addison routes will be rerouted to adjacent streets for the duration of the parade.

In addition, extra service will be provided on the #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express and #78 Montrose bus routes for parade participants and spectators attending the Rocks Festival at Montrose Harbor. The #78 will provide extra service from Montrose Beach to Clark from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. The #146 will provide extra service between Belmont and Montrose Beach between 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.

#97 Skokie Buses Rerouted for Independence Day Parade
On Friday, July 4 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Oakton Street will be closed between Niles Center Road and Kostner Avenue for the Skokie Independence Day Parade.

During this time, #97 buses operating in both directions will travel along Oakton to Kostner then operate via Kostner, Main to Niles Center Road and then resume the regular route.

Ongoing Bus Reroutes
#20 Roosevelt Buses Temporarily Rerouted for Bus Terminal Repair Work
The CTA bus terminal at Roosevelt and Monitor will continue to be closed until 5 a.m. Monday, June 30 while repairs are made and the area is resurfaced.

During this time, westbound #12 Roosevelt buses will operate over the regular route along Roosevelt past Monitor Avenue to Austin then operate via Austin, Fillmore, Mason to Roosevelt for end of service. Eastbound customers can board #12 buses along Roosevelt between Mayfield and Monitor (across the street from the terminal).

Buses Rerouted on Ridge Avenue Due to Road Reconstruction
Due to road reconstruction on Ridge Avenue between Howard Street and Main Street, the #201 Central Ridge and #206 Evanston Circulator buses will be rerouted until 5 a.m. Thursday, July 31.

Southbound #201 and #206 buses will travel along Ridge then will operate via Main, Asbury, Howard, Ridge and then resume the regular route.

Buses Reroute for Construction Through September
#87 87th buses continue to be rerouted in both directions until 5 a.m. Wednesday, September 17 due to street reconstruction.

Eastbound buses will travel over the regular route to Vincennes then will operate via Vincennes, 83rd, Lafayette then return to 87th and resume the regular route. Westbound buses will travel over the regular route to State then will operate via State, 83rd, Vincennes then return to 87th and resume the regular route.

Buses Rerouted on Saturdays for the Near North Farmer's Market
From 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. every Saturday through October 25, Division Street between State and Clark will be closed for the Near North Farmer's Market.

During this time, southbound #36 Broadway buses will travel over the regular route to Clark then will operate via Clark, Maple to State and then resume the regular route. Northbound #36 buses will operate over the regular route to State then will travel via State, Elm to Clark and then resume the regular route.

Eastbound #70 Division buses will travel over the regular route to Division and then will operate via Division, Clark, Maple to Dearborn and resume the regular route. Westbound service is not affected.

Buses Reroute Downtown for Construction
From midnight each night until 6 a.m. the following morning Randolph Street will be closed from State to Dearborn through Saturday, November 1.

In addition, Dearborn Street is closed between Washington and Randolph from 9 p.m. each day until 6 a.m. the following morning through Saturday, November 1.

Northbound #22 Clark, #36 Broadway and #62 Archer buses will travel over the regular route along Dearborn to Monroe and will then operate via Monroe, State, Wacker to Dearborn and then resume the regular route.

Bridge Reconstruction Reroutes Buses
Reroute of #205 Chicago/Golf buses will continue until November 16, due to bridge reconstruction on Emerson between Leland and McCormick.

#205 buses will operate in both directions via Church, McCormick to Golf and then resume the regular route.

Railroad Bridge Repairs Reroute #75 74th/75th Buses
Due to railroad bridge repair work in the 7500 block of South Loomis Street, #75 74th/75th buses will continue to be rerouted until Wednesday, December 31, 2008.

#75 buses operating in both directions will travel along 74th Street to Ashland then will operate via Ashland, 76th, Racine to 74th and then resume the regular route.

Buses Rerouted on Harrison Due to Construction
Harrison Street between Paulina Street and Ashland Avenue continues to be closed until Thursday, January 1, 2009, due to the construction of the Harrison Street Tunnel. During this time, eastbound #7 Harrison and #126 Jackson buses will be rerouted.

Eastbound #7 buses will travel over the regular route to Paulina then will operate via Polk, Ashland to Harrison and resume the regular route.

Eastbound #126 buses will travel over the regular route to Harrison then will operate via Harrison, Wood, Polk, Ashland to Harrison and resume the regular route.

Bus Stops Along Solidarity Drive Temporarily Removed Due to Construction
Until further notice, all bus stops along Solidarity Drive served by the #12 Roosevelt and #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express buses will be temporarily removed due to construction.

Customers traveling to and from the Shedd Aquarium should exit and board #12 and #146 buses at McFetridge Drive.

Buses Reroute at Clark and Polk
Until further notice, #22 Clark and #36 Broadway buses will be rerouted in the area of Clark and Polk streets and will not be providing any service south of Harrison.

Southbound #22 Clark customers traveling to Polk will need to transfer to a #24 Wentworth bus prior to Congress (or a #129 West Loop/South Loop bus available only on weekdays during the morning and evening rush periods) to complete their trip.

Southbound #36 Broadway customers traveling to Polk will need to transfer to a #29 State or #62 Archer bus prior to Congress to complete their trip.

Both northbound #22 and #36 customers can board buses north of Harrison on Dearborn.

Bus Service Changes Due to Construction at State and Grand
#36 Broadway and southbound #29 State buses are rerouting until further notice at Grand Avenue and State Street due to construction at the Red Line's Grand station.

Southbound #36 and #29 buses will travel over the regular route to Grand then will operate via Clark to Illinois then return to State and resume the regular route.

Northbound #36 buses will travel over the regular route to Dearborn then will operate via Dearborn to Ohio, then return to State and resume the regular route.

Buses Reroute Due to Construction
Halsted is closed at Root Street between the hours of 6 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. and again at 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. each day until further notice, due to construction.

#43 43rd buses will operate in both directions via Halsted, 45th Street, Morgan to Exchange and then resume the regular route.

#60 Blue Island/26th Buses Rerouted Due to Lane Closure
Until further notice, Laflin Street between Cermak and 21st Place will be closed to all traffic due to construction at Benito Juarez School.

#60 Blue Island/26th buses operating in both directions will travel over the regular route to Cermak then will operate via Cermak, Loomis, 21st Street then return to Laflin and resume the regular route.
