Events Affecting CTA Service Beginning Weekend of June 20-22

Slow Zone Work
Red Line Subway Trains Temporarily Rerouted to Elevated Tracks This Saturday and Sunday
Service on the Red Line between the Fullerton and Cermak-Chinatown stations will be temporarily rerouted in both directions from the subway to the elevated tracks from 9 p.m. Saturday, June 21 until 3 p.m. Sunday, June 22. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Please note that the reroute time has been adjusted from previous weeks due to the Cubs-Sox Crosstown Series this weekend. Red Line trains will operate normally through the subway before and after games throughout the weekend for the convenience of customers.

Bus shuttle service will also be available between select Red and Brown Line stations.

Next Week
Northbound Red Line trains will be rerouted to the elevated tracks each night from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning beginning Monday, June 23 to Friday morning, June 27. Southbound service is not affected.

Northbound Red Line trains will operate normally between the 95th and Cermak-Chinatown stations and between the Fullerton and Howard stations.

Rerouted northbound trains will stop at the following elevated stations between Cermak-Chinatown and Fullerton: Roosevelt/Wabash, Adams/Wabash, Madison/Wabash, Randolph/Wabash, State/Lake, Clark/Lake, Merchandise Mart, Chicago/Franklin, Sedgwick and Armitage.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Northbound Red Line trains will be temporarily rerouted to operate on Brown Line tracks at the Fullerton station from 7 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 21 and again during the same hours on Sunday, June 22. Northbound customers at Fullerton must board and exit trains from the Brown Line side of the platform. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Red Line Trains Temporarily Rerouted at Belmont
Northbound Red Line trains will be temporarily rerouted to operate on the Brown Line tracks from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. each day beginning Monday, June 23 through Friday, June 27. During this time, northbound customers at Belmont must board and exit trains from the Brown Line side of the platform.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Weekend Blue Line Service Between Jefferson Park and Harlem Temporarily Suspended
Rail service between the Jefferson Park and Harlem Blue Line stations will be temporarily suspended from 9 p.m. Friday, June 20 to 3 a.m. Monday, June 23, in order to replace deteriorated rail ties, tie plates and spikes.

Bus shuttles will operate as a substitute for rail service between the Jefferson Park and Harlem stations. Customers should allow extra travel time.

Single Track in Effect Between Jefferson Park and Montrose Next Week
A late night single track will be in effect between the Montrose and Jefferson Park Blue Line stations next week from 8 p.m. each night until 4 a.m. the following morning beginning Tuesday, June 24 through Friday morning, June 27. Northbound customers at the Montrose station must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform.

CTA operators will announce the direction of each train. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Weekend Single Track in Effect on Brown Line
A single track will be in effect for northbound Brown Line trains between the Southport and Addison stations from 4 a.m. Saturday, June 21 until 8 p.m. Sunday, June 22.

During this time, northbound customers at the Southport and Addison stations must board and exit trains from the southbound platform.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Next Week
From 8 p.m. each night to 4 a.m. the following morning beginning Monday, June 23 through Friday morning, June 27, a single track will be in effect for southbound Brown Line trains between Addison and Southport. During this time, southbound customers at the Addison and Southport stations must board and exit trains from the northbound platform.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Blue Line - Other Events Affecting Service
Late Night Single Track in Effect for Blue Line Subway This Weekend
From 11 p.m. Friday, June 20 until 6 a.m. the following morning, and then again from 10 p.m. Saturday, June 21 until 6 a.m. the following morning,
a single track will be in effect for northbound Blue Line subway trains between the LaSalle and Grand stations. During this time, Blue Line customers at the Jackson, Monroe, Washington and Clark/Lake stations must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Monday Night Single Track in Effect for Blue Line Subway
A single track will be in effect for southbound Blue Line trains between the Damen and Grand stations from 11 p.m. Monday, June 23 to 4 a.m. the following morning. During this time, southbound customers at the Division, Chicago and Grand stations must board and exit trains on the northbound side of the platform.

Green Line - Other Events Affecting Service
Late Night Single Track in Effect on Green Line Beginning Sunday
A single track will be in effect between the Laramie and Austin Green Line stations for track maintenance and repair work. From 10 p.m. each night until 4 a.m. the following morning beginning Sunday, June 22 through Friday morning, June 27, northbound customers at the Laramie station must board and exit trains on the southbound platform.

Northbound customers at the Central station must board and exit trains from the southbound side of platform.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Red Line - Other Events Affecting Service
Cubs-Sox Crosstown Weekend Series Begins at Wrigley Field Friday
North and South Side fans are encouraged to avoid traffic congestion by taking public transit to Wrigley Field for the Cubs-Sox series this weekend.

The first game of the three-game interleague series begins Friday, June 20 at 1:20 p.m.; Saturday's game time is 12:05 p.m.; and the last game of the weekend series is Sunday at 7:10 p.m.

Red Line trains will operate normally through the subway before and after games throughout the weekend for the convenience of customers.

The Red Line provides direct service to Wrigley Field via the accessible station at Addison. Fans can transfer to Red Line trains from all other rail lines and from most east-west bus routes.

Howard Terminal Rehabilitation Project
Weekend Platform Closure at Howard
Due to construction work associated with the Howard Terminal Rehabilitation project, the east platform where northbound customers normally board and exit will be out of service from 8 p.m. Friday, June 20 until 2 a.m. Monday, June 23.

During this time, Red, Purple and Yellow Line customers must board and exit trains from the west platform, where southbound customers normally board.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

New/Updated Changes in Bus Service
20 New Routes Added to the CTA Bus Tracker Program
Effective Monday, June 23, CTA customers will be able to access real-time travel information for a total of 52 CTA bus routes with the addition of the following 20 new routes to the Bus Tracker system:

Buses Reroute Downtown for Construction
From midnight each night until 6 a.m. the following morning Randolph Street will be closed from State to Dearborn through Saturday, November 1.

In addition, Dearborn Street is closed between Washington and Randolph from 9 p.m. each day until 6 a.m. the following morning through Saturday, November 1.

Northbound #22 Clark, #36 Broadway and #62 Archer buses will travel over the regular route along Dearborn to Monroe and will then operate via Monroe, State, Wacker to Dearborn and then resume the regular route.

Reroute of #53 Pulaski Buses Temporarily Suspended
The daytime Friday reroute of #53 Pulaski buses due to sewer repair work has been temporarily suspended until later this month. Effective immediately, #53 buses will resume normal operation during the day on Fridays.

#70 Division Buses Rerouted Due to Bridge Maintenance Work
From 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. the following morning beginning Thursday, June 19 and again during the same hours on Sunday, June 22, #70 Division buses will be rerouted at the 800 block of West Division Street due to bridge maintenance work.

During these times, eastbound #70 buses will operate over the regular route along Division to Hooker Street then travel via Hooker, Halsted to Division and then resume the regular route. Westbound buses will operate over the regular route along Division to Halsted then travel via Halsted, North Branch to Division and then resume the regular route.

Late Night Reroute of #29 State Street Buses
Due to ComEd construction work, State Street will be closed between 39th Place and 40th Street from 10 p.m. June 19 until 4 a.m. the following morning.

Northbound #29 buses will operate over the regular route along State Street to 43rd and then will travel via 43rd, Indiana, 39th to State and then resume the regular route. Southbound buses will travel over the regular route along State to 39th and then will operate via 39th, Michigan, 43rd to State and then resume the regular route.

Museum of Science & Industry Anniversary Celebration Reroutes Buses
Effective until 3 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, the Museum Drive terminal at the Museum of Science & Industry will be closed to all traffic due to the 75th Anniversary Celebration.

During this time, customers traveling to and from the Museum via the #10 Museum of Science & Industry, #55 Garfield and #X55 Garfield Express must board and exit buses from the west parking lot on Cornell Avenue just south of 57th Street.

Juneteenth Celebration Parade Reroutes Buses on Saturday
From 8 a.m. until noon on Saturday, June 21, 79th Street will be closed between Cornell and South Shore Drive for the annual Juneteenth Celebration Parade.

Southbound #6 Jackson Park Express buses will not be providing service south of 75th Street and northbound buses will begin their routes from the 75th Street terminal. Northbound #14 Jeffrey Express and #15 Jeffrey Local buses will operate over the regular route along Jeffrey to South Chicago Avenue and then will travel via South Chicago, Stony Island, 75th to Jeffrey and then resume the regular route.

Buses Rerouted in Grant Park for the Family Christian Parade
On Saturday, June 21 from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m., Columbus Drive will be closed between Roosevelt and Monroe, and Monroe will be closed between Michigan and Lake Shore Drive for the Family Christian Parade.

During this time the #6 Jackson Park Express, #10 Museum of Science & Industry, #14 Jeffery Express, #130 Grant Park Treasures and #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express buses will be rerouted in both directions to operate via Roosevelt and Michigan during the parade.

Additional Service Provided for Kenny Chesney Poets & Pirates Tour 2008 at Soldier Field
CTA will provide additional service for those heading to the Kenny Chesney Poets & Pirates Tour 2008 at Soldier Field on Saturday, June 21, which is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.

Starting at 1:30 p.m. more frequent service will begin along the #12 Roosevelt and the #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express routes. Following the concert, buses will leave every 12 minutes until one hour after the concert ends.

#20 Roosevelt Buses Temporarily Rerouted for Bus Terminal Repair Work
Effective 9:30 a.m. Monday, June 23 until 5 a.m. Monday, June 30, the CTA bus terminal at Roosevelt and Monitor will be closed while repairs are made and the area is resurfaced.

During this time, westbound #12 Roosevelt buses will operate over the regular route along Roosevelt past Monitor Avenue to Austin then operate via Austin, Fillmore, Mason to Roosevelt for end of service. Eastbound customers can board #12 buses along Roosevelt between Mayfield and Monitor (across the street from the terminal).

Late Night Reroute of #77 Belmont Buses on Monday
Due to work associated with the Brown Line Capacity Expansion project, Belmont Avenue at the Brown Line will be closed to all traffic from 9 p.m. Monday, June 23 until 5 a.m. the following morning.

During this time, #77 Belmont buses operating in both directions will travel along Belmont to Sheffield and then will travel via Sheffield, Addison, Halsted to Belmont and then resume the regular route.

Bridge Maintenance Work Reroutes #8 Halsted Buses Next Week
From 10 p.m. each night until 6 a.m. the following morning on Tuesday, June 24 and Wednesday, June 25, the Halsted Bridge over the Chicago River North Branch will be closed due to maintenance work.

During these times, #8 Halsted buses operating in both directions will travel along Halsted to Chicago and then will operate via Chicago, Larrabee, Crosby, Division to Halsted and then resume the regular route.

Late Night Reroute of #74 Fullerton Buses Next Week
From 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning beginning Wednesday, June 25 through Friday morning, June 27, Fullerton Avenue at the Brown Line will be closed to all traffic due to work associated with the Brown Line Capacity Expansion project.

Eastbound #74 Fullerton buses will operate along Fullerton to Sheffield and then will travel via Sheffield, Webster, Lincoln, Sheffield to Fullerton and resume the regular route.

Ongoing Bus Reroutes
Buses Rerouted on Ridge Avenue Due to Road Reconstruction
Due to road reconstruction on Ridge Avenue between Howard Street and Main Street, the #201 Central Ridge and #206 Evanston Circulator buses will be rerouted until 5 a.m. Thursday, July 31.

Southbound #201 and #206 buses will travel along Ridge then will operate via Main, Asbury, Howard, Ridge and then resume the regular route.

Buses Reroute for Construction Through September
#87 87th buses continue to be rerouted in both directions until 5 a.m. Wednesday, September 17 due to street reconstruction.

Eastbound buses will travel over the regular route to Vincennes then will operate via Vincennes, 83rd, Lafayette then return to 87th and resume the regular route. Westbound buses will travel over the regular route to State then will operate via State, 83rd, Vincennes then return to 87th and resume the regular route.

Buses Rerouted on Saturdays for the Near North Farmer's Market
From 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. every Saturday through October 25, Division Street between State and Clark will be closed for the Near North Farmer's Market.

During this time, southbound #36 Broadway buses will travel over the regular route to Clark then will operate via Clark, Maple to State and then resume the regular route. Northbound #36 buses will operate over the regular route to State then will travel via State, Elm to Clark and then resume the regular route.

Eastbound #70 Division buses will travel over the regular route to Division and then will operate via Division, Clark, Maple to Dearborn and resume the regular route. Westbound service is not affected.

Bridge Reconstruction Reroutes Buses
Reroute of #205 Chicago/Golf buses will continue until November 16, due to bridge reconstruction on Emerson between Leland and McCormick.

#205 buses will operate in both directions via Church, McCormick to Golf and then resume the regular route.

Railroad Bridge Repairs Reroute #75 74th/75th Buses
Due to railroad bridge repair work in the 7500 block of South Loomis Street, #75 74th/75th buses will continue to be rerouted until Wednesday, December 31, 2008.

#75 buses operating in both directions will travel along 74th Street to Ashland then will operate via Ashland, 76th, Racine to 74th and then resume the regular route.

Buses Rerouted on Harrison Due to Construction
Harrison Street between Paulina Street and Ashland Avenue continues to be closed until Thursday, January 1, 2009, due to the construction of the Harrison Street Tunnel. During this time, eastbound #7 Harrison and #126 Jackson buses will be rerouted.

Eastbound #7 buses will travel over the regular route to Paulina then will operate via Polk, Ashland to Harrison and resume the regular route.

Eastbound #126 buses will travel over the regular route to Harrison then will operate via Harrison, Wood, Polk, Ashland to Harrison and resume the regular route.

Bus Stops Along Solidarity Drive Temporarily Removed Due to Construction
Until further notice, all bus stops along Solidarity Drive served by the #12 Roosevelt and #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express buses will be temporarily removed due to construction.

Customers traveling to and from the Shedd Aquarium should exit and board #12 and #146 buses at McFetridge Drive.

Buses Reroute at Clark and Polk
Until further notice, #22 Clark and #36 Broadway buses will be rerouted in the area of Clark and Polk streets and will not be providing any service south of Harrison.

Southbound #22 Clark customers traveling to Polk will need to transfer to a #24 Wentworth bus prior to Congress (or a #129 West Loop/South Loop bus available only on weekdays during the morning and evening rush periods) to complete their trip.

Southbound #36 Broadway customers traveling to Polk will need to transfer to a #29 State or #62 Archer bus prior to Congress to complete their trip.

Both northbound #22 and #36 customers can board buses north of Harrison on Dearborn.

Bus Service Changes Due to Construction at State and Grand
#36 Broadway and southbound #29 State buses are rerouting until further notice at Grand Avenue and State Street due to construction at the Red Line's Grand station.

Southbound #36 and #29 buses will travel over the regular route to Grand then will operate via Clark to Illinois then return to State and resume the regular route.

Northbound #36 buses will travel over the regular route to Dearborn then will operate via Dearborn to Ohio, then return to State and resume the regular route.

Buses Reroute Due to Construction
Halsted is closed at Root Street between the hours of 6 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. and again at 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. each day until further notice, due to construction.

#43 43rd buses will operate in both directions via Halsted, 45th Street, Morgan to Exchange and then resume the regular route.

#60 Blue Island/26th Buses Rerouted Due to Lane Closure
Until further notice, Laflin Street between Cermak and 21st Place will be closed to all traffic due to construction at Benito Juarez School.

#60 Blue Island/26th buses operating in both directions will travel over the regular route to Cermak then will operate via Cermak, Loomis, 21st Street then return to Laflin and resume the regular route.
