Events Affecting CTA Service Beginning Weekend of July 25-27

Red Line - Slow Zone Work
Red Line Subway Trains Temporarily Rerouted to Elevated Tracks This Weekend
Service on the Red Line between the Fullerton and Cermak-Chinatown stations will be temporarily rerouted in both directions from the subway to the elevated tracks from 3 a.m. Sunday, July 27 until 3 a.m. Monday, July 28. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Bus shuttle service will also be available between select Red and Brown Line stations.

Rerouted trains will stop at the following elevated stations between Cermak-Chinatown and Fullerton: Roosevelt/Wabash, Adams/Wabash, Madison/Wabash, Randolph/Wabash, State/Lake, Clark/Lake, Merchandise Mart, Chicago/Franklin, Sedgwick and Armitage. The Merchandise Mart station is available as an exit only (via stairway) on Saturday morning from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. and Sunday morning from 12:50 a.m. to 7:10 a.m., and weekdays from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m.

Next Week - Northbound
Northbound service between the Cermak-Chinatown and Fullerton station will be temporarily rerouted from the subway to the elevated tracks from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. daily beginning Monday, July 28 through Thursday, July 31. Red Line trains will resume normal service through the subway on Friday morning.

Northbound Red Line trains will operate normally between the Fullerton and Howard stations and between the 95th Street and Cermak-Chinatown stations.

Rerouted northbound trains will stop at the following elevated stations between Cermak-Chinatown and Fullerton: Roosevelt/Wabash, Adams/Wabash, Madison/Wabash, Randolph/Wabash, State/Lake, Clark/Lake, Merchandise Mart, Chicago/Franklin, Sedgwick and Armitage. Trains will then operate to Fullerton to resume regular routing. Weekdays, the Merchandise Mart station is available as an exit only (via stairway) from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Northbound and Southbound Red Line Trains Temporarily Reroute at Sheridan
From 7 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Saturday, July 26,
northbound and southbound Red Line trains will be temporarily rerouted to operate on the Purple Express Line tracks.

Customers at the Sheridan station must board and exit trains on the Purple Express side of each platform.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Next Week
From 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. each day beginning Tuesday, July 29 through Friday, August 1, northbound and southbound Red Line trains will be temporarily rerouted to operate on the Purple Express Line tracks.

Customers at the Sheridan station must board and exit trains on the Purple Express side of each platform.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Blue Line - Slow Zone Work
Blue Line Service Between O'Hare and Rosemont Resumes
Blue Line rail service between the O'Hare and Rosemont stations resumed ahead of schedule at 3 a.m. on Thursday, July 24. Crews were able to accelerate the replacement of deteriorated rail, tie plates and spikes and restore service four days earlier than anticipated.

Southbound Single Track in Effect on O'Hare Branch of the Blue Line Next Week
From 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 29 until 4 a.m. the following morning and then again from 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 30 until 4 a.m. the following morning,
a single track will be in effect for southbound Blue Line trains between the Jefferson Park and Montrose stations.

Southbound customers at the Montrose station must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Late Night Single Track on O'Hare Branch of the Blue Line Next Week
A late night single track will be in effect between the Montrose and Addison Blue Line stations next week from 8 p.m. Thursday, July 31 until 4 a.m. the following morning. Southbound customers at the Irving Park station must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform.

CTA operators will announce the direction of each train. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Brown Line - Slow Zone Work
Northbound Single Track in Effect on Brown Line This Weekend
A single track will be in effect for northbound Brown Line trains between the Southport and Addison stations beginning 8 p.m. Friday, July 25 until 3 p.m. Saturday, July 26 and then again on Sunday, July 27 from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.

During these times, northbound customers at the Southport and Addison Brown Line stations must board and exit trains from the southbound platform.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Southbound - Monday
From 8 p.m. Monday, July 28 until 4 a.m. the following morning, a single track will be in effect for southbound Brown Line trains between Addison and Southport. During this time, southbound customers at the Addison and Southport stations must board and exit trains from the northbound platform.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Northbound - Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
From 8 p.m. each night until 4 a.m. the following morning beginning Tuesday, July 29 through Friday morning, August 1, a single track will be in effect for northbound Brown Line trains between Southport and Addison. During this time, northbound customers at the Southport and Addison stations must board and exit trains from the southbound platform.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Red Line - Other Events Affecting Service
Late Night Single Track in Effect for Red Line Subway Friday Night
Due to CTA maintenance work, a single track will be in effect for Red Line subway trains from 11 p.m. Friday, July 25 until 4 a.m. the following morning. Red Line customers at the Roosevelt, Harrison, Jackson, Monroe and Lake subway stations must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Temporary Closure of Lunt Avenue Entrance/Exit at Morse Red Line Station
The Lunt Avenue entrance/exit at the Morse Red Line station will be temporarily closed from 5 a.m. Saturday, July 26 until 4 a.m. Monday, July 28, due to station maintenance and repair work. During this time, customers must enter and exit from the primary station entrance located on Morse Avenue.

Brown/Red Lines - Other Events Affecting Service
Brown and Red Line Trains Temporarily Rerouted at Belmont This Weekend
Due to construction work at the Belmont station this weekend, southbound Red and Brown Line trains will operate on the northbound tracks at Belmont from 2 a.m. Sunday, July 27 until 4 a.m. Monday, July 28.

Southbound Red and Brown Line customers must board and exit trains from the northbound Red Line platform. Northbound Red and Brown Line customers must board and exit trains from the northbound Brown Line side of the platform.

During this time, southbound Brown Line trains will be unable to stop at Diversey. Southbound Brown Line customers traveling to Diversey should exit at Fullerton and board a northbound train to Diversey. Southbound customers at Diversey should board a northbound train and exit at Belmont to board a southbound train.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Blue Line - Other Events Affecting Service
Late Night Single Track in Effect on Forest Park Branch of Blue Line
From 10 p.m. Friday, July 25 to 7 a.m. the following morning,
a single track will be in effect for southbound Blue Line trains between the Racine and Western stations.

Southbound customers at the Racine and Medical District stations must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Next Week
A late night single track will be in effect for southbound Blue Line trains between Racine and Western stations from 9 p.m. Monday, July 28 to 4 a.m. the following morning.

Southbound customers at the Medical District and Racine stations must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Green Line - Other Events Affecting Service
Late Night Single Track in Effect on Green Line Next Week
From 10 p.m. until 4 a.m. the following morning beginning Sunday, July 27 through Friday morning, August 1,
a single track will be in effect between the Harlem and Austin Green Line stations while crews conduct track maintenance and repair work.

Southbound customers at the Oak Park, Ridgeland and Austin stations must board and exit trains from the northbound side of platform. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Additional Bus/Rail Service for Events
CTA Provides Convenient Bus and Rail Service for Venetian Night
The CTA will provide extra bus and rail service on Saturday evening, July 26 to accommodate the anticipated increase in customers heading to Venetian Night festivities.

Additional bus service will be provided on the following routes serving downtown: #3 King Drive, #4 Cottage Grove, #12 Roosevelt, #14 Jeffery Express, #29 State, #56 Milwaukee, #65 Grand, #66 Chicago, #124 Navy Pier and #147 Outer Drive Express.

Additional rail service and longer trains will operate on the Red and Blue Lines. Operating on regular schedules, longer trains will operate on the Brown, Green, Pink and Orange lines. The last trains will depart at their regularly scheduled times.

New/Updated Changes in Bus Service
#71 71st/South Shore Bus Stop Temporarily Relocated
Until further notice, the eastbound bus stop on 71st Street between Lafayette and Vincennes, served by #71 71st/South Shore buses, will be temporarily relocated to the mid-section of the bridge due to sewer repair work.

Buses Rerouted Due to Water Main Repairs
Until further notice, #6 Jackson Park Express and #79 79th buses will be temporarily rerouted as 79th Street is closed between South Shore Drive and Brandon Avenue.

Southbound #6 buses will operate over the regular route along South Shore to 83rd Street and will then travel via 83rd, Exchange, 79th to Coles for end of route and northbound buses will resume the regular route.

Eastbound #79 buses will travel over the regular route along 79th Street to Cheltenham and then operate via Cheltenham, Coles, 76th, South Shore to 79th for end of route and westbound will resume the regular route.

#82 Kimball/Homan Buses Rerouted For Sewer Repair Work
Until 4 a.m. Thursday, September 25, Kimball Avenue will be closed between Foster and Bryn Mawr due to sewer repair work.

#82 Kimball/Homan buses operating in both directions will travel over the regular route along Kimball to Foster then will operate via Foster, Kedzie, Bryn Mawr to Kimball and then resume the regular route.

Sewer Repair Work Reroutes #78 Montrose Buses
Due to sewer repair work, Montrose Avenue will be closed between Wolcott and Hermitage beginning at 4 a.m. Monday, July 28 until 4 a.m. Monday, September 8.

Eastbound #78 Montrose buses will operate over the regular route along Montrose to Damen then travel via Damen, Wilson, Ashland to Montrose and then resume the regular route. Westbound service is not affected.

31st/Komensky Bus Terminal Closed Due to Reconstruction
Effective 6 a.m. Monday, July 28 until 12:01 a.m. Saturday, August 2, the CTA bus terminal located at 31st Street and Komensky will be closed due to reconstruction work. During this time, customers must board and alight #53 Pulaski, #53A South Pulaski and #82 Kimball/Homan buses along 31st Street, between Komensky and Pulaski.

Disability Pride Parade Temporarily Reroutes Buses on Saturday
From 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, July 26, Dearborn Street will be closed between Van Buren and Randolph for the annual Disability Pride Parade.

Northbound #22 Clark, #36 Broadway and #62 Archer buses will travel to State and then operate via State, Wacker to Dearborn and then resume the regular route.

Ongoing Bus Reroutes
Buses Rerouted on Ridge Avenue Due to Road Reconstruction
Due to road reconstruction on Ridge Avenue between Howard Street and Main Street, the #201 Central Ridge and #206 Evanston Circulator buses will be rerouted until 5 a.m. Thursday, July 31.

Southbound #201 and #206 buses will travel along Ridge then will operate via Main, Asbury, Howard, Ridge and then resume the regular route.

#201 Central/Ridge Buses Temporarily Rerouted Until Mid-August
Due to construction along Sherman Road, northbound #201 Central/Ridge buses will be temporarily rerouted until Tuesday morning, August 19. Northbound #201 buses will operate the regular route along Clark to Maple and then travel via Maple, Emerson to Ridge and then resume the regular route. Southbound service is not affected.

Buses Reroute for Construction Through September
#87 87th buses continue to be rerouted in both directions until 5 a.m. Wednesday, September 17, due to street reconstruction.

Eastbound buses will travel over the regular route to Vincennes then will operate via Vincennes, 83rd, Lafayette then return to 87th and resume the regular route. Westbound buses will travel over the regular route to State then will operate via State, 83rd, Vincennes then return to 87th and resume the regular route.

Buses Rerouted on Saturdays for the Near North Farmer's Market
From 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. every Saturday through October 25, Division Street between State and Clark will be closed for the Near North Farmer's Market.

During this time, southbound #36 Broadway buses will travel over the regular route to Clark then will operate via Clark, Maple to State and then resume the regular route. Northbound #36 buses will operate over the regular route to State then will travel via State, Elm to Clark and then resume the regular route.

Eastbound #70 Division buses will travel over the regular route along Division to Clark and then operate via Clark, Maple to Dearborn and then resume the regular route. Westbound service is not affected.

Buses Reroute Downtown for Construction
From midnight each night until 6 a.m. the following morning Randolph Street will be closed from State to Dearborn through Saturday, November 1.

In addition, Dearborn Street is closed between Washington and Randolph from 9 p.m. each day until 6 a.m. the following morning through Saturday, November 1.

Northbound #22 Clark, #36 Broadway and #62 Archer buses will travel over the regular route along Dearborn to Monroe and will then operate via Monroe, State, Wacker to Dearborn and then resume the regular route.

Bridge Reconstruction Reroutes Buses
The reroute of #205 Chicago/Golf buses will continue until November 16, due to bridge reconstruction on Emerson between Leland and McCormick.

#205 buses will operate in both directions via Church, McCormick to Golf and then resume the regular route.

Railroad Bridge Repairs Reroute #75 74th/75th Buses
Until Wednesday, December 31, 2008, #75 74th/75th buses will be rerouted on weekdays only from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. due to railroad bridge repair work in the 7500 block of South Loomis Street.

#75 buses operating in both directions will travel along 74th Street to Ashland then will operate via Ashland, 76th, Racine to 74th and then resume the regular route.

Buses Rerouted on Harrison Due to Construction
Harrison Street between Paulina Street and Ashland Avenue continues to be closed until Thursday, January 1, 2009, due to construction. During this time, eastbound #7 Harrison and #126 Jackson buses will be rerouted.

Eastbound #7 buses will travel over the regular route to Paulina then will operate via Polk, Ashland to Harrison and resume the regular route.

Eastbound #126 buses operating during late evenings, weekends and holidays will travel over the regular route to Harrison then will operate via Harrison, Wood, Polk, Ashland to Harrison and then resume the regular route.

#7 Harrison Bus Stop Temporarily Relocated Until Mid-August
Until Monday, August 11, the westbound mid-block bus stop located at Harrison near Paulina served by the #7 Harrison will be temporarily relocated around the corner on Paulina due to construction.

Bus Stops Along Solidarity Drive Temporarily Removed Due to Construction
Until further notice, all bus stops along Solidarity Drive served by the #12 Roosevelt and #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express buses will be temporarily removed due to construction.

Customers traveling to and from the Shedd Aquarium should exit and board #12 and #146 buses at McFetridge Drive.

Buses Reroute at Clark and Polk
Until further notice, #22 Clark and #36 Broadway buses will be rerouted in the area of Clark and Polk streets and will not be providing any service south of Harrison.

Southbound #22 Clark customers traveling to Polk will need to transfer to a #24 Wentworth bus prior to Congress (or a #129 West Loop/South Loop bus available only on weekdays during the morning and evening rush periods) to complete their trip.

Southbound #36 Broadway customers traveling to Polk will need to transfer to a #29 State or #62 Archer bus prior to Congress to complete their trip.

Both northbound #22 and #36 customers can board buses north of Harrison on Dearborn.

Bus Service Changes Due to Construction at State and Grand
#36 Broadway and southbound #29 State buses are rerouting until further notice at Grand Avenue and State Street due to construction at the Red Line's Grand station.

Southbound #36 and #29 buses will travel over the regular route to Grand then will operate via Clark to Illinois then return to State and resume the regular route.

Northbound #36 buses will travel over the regular route to Dearborn then will operate via Dearborn to Ohio, then return to State and resume the regular route.

Buses Reroute Due to Construction
Halsted is closed at Root Street between the hours of 6 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. and again at 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. each day until further notice, due to construction.

#43 43rd buses will operate in both directions via Halsted, 45th Street, Morgan to Exchange and then resume the regular route.

#60 Blue Island/26th Buses Rerouted Due to Lane Closure
Until further notice, Laflin Street between Cermak and 21st Place will be closed to all traffic due to construction at Benito Juarez School.

#60 Blue Island/26th buses operating in both directions will travel over the regular route to Cermak then will operate via Cermak, Loomis, 21st Street then return to Laflin and resume the regular route.
