Slow Zone Work
Northbound Red Line Trains to Temporarily Reroute to Elevated Tracks Next Week

While work is under way to eliminate slow zones, northbound Red Line trains that normally operate through the subway between the Cermak-Chinatown and Fullerton stations will reroute to the elevated tracks from 6 a.m. Saturday, March 1 until 6 p.m. Sunday, March 2. Elevated stations are located within a block of Red Line subway stations in the Loop. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Red Line trains will operate normally between the Fullerton and Howard stations and between the 95th and Cermak-Chinatown stations.

Rerouted trains will stop at the following elevated stations between Cermak-Chinatown: and Fullerton: Roosevelt/Wabash, Adams/Wabash, Madison/Wabash, Randolph/Wabash, State/Lake, Clark/Lake, Merchandise Mart, Chicago/Franklin and Sedgwick. The Merchandise Mart station is available as an exit only (via stairway) on Saturday morning from 1 a.m. to
5 a.m. and on Sunday morning from 12:50 a.m. to7:10 a.m.

Daytime Single Track in Effect on Brown Line This Weekend
A single track will be in effect on the Brown Line affecting customers who board at the Paulina and Addison stations from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 1.

Southbound customers at the Paulina and Addison stations must board and exit trains on the northbound platform.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Northbound Red Line Trains Temporarily Reroute at Sheridan
Northbound Red Line trains will be temporarily rerouted to operate on the Purple Express tracks from 7 a.m. until
3:30 p.m. Saturday, March 1 and again during the same hours on Sunday, March 2.

During these times, northbound customers at Sheridan will board and exit trains on the Purple Express side of the platform.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Next Week
Northbound Red Line trains at Sheridan will operate on the northbound Purple Express tracks from 10:50 a.m. until
2 p.m. each day beginning Tuesday, March 4 through Friday, March 7.

During these times, northbound customers at Sheridan will board and exit trains on the Purple Express side of the platform.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Other Events Affecting Service
Southbound Red Line Trains Reroute to Brown Line Track at Fullerton for Switch Test

Southbound Red Line trains at Fullerton will be rerouted to the far west track normally used by southbound Brown Line trains from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. each day on Saturday, March 1, Sunday, March 2 and Monday, March 3.

Southbound Red Line customers must board and exit on the same side of the platform (west) as southbound Brown Line customers. Normal southbound service will resume at 5 a.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

The reroute is a test of planned southbound routing and switching mechanisms in preparation for the next phase of three-track operation scheduled to begin March 30. CTA plans to test track switches and routing plans each weekend through March 30.

Single Track in Effect on Red Line
A single track will be in effect between the Grand and Roosevelt stations on the Red Line from midnight each night until
4 a.m. the following morning beginning Monday,
March 3 through Friday morning, March 7.

Southbound Red Line customers at the Lake, Monroe, Jackson, Harrison and Roosevelt stations must board and exit trains on the northbound side of the platform.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Single Track in Effect on O'Hare Branch of Blue Line This Weekend
A single track will be in effect between the Grand and Damen stations from 7 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 1 and again during the same hours on Sunday, March 2.

Northbound customers at the Grand, Chicago and Division stations must board and exit trains on the southbound side of the platform.

Howard Station Construction
The southbound platform at the Howard Red Line station will be temporarily out of service for construction work from 11 p.m. Friday, February 29 until 4 a.m. Monday, March 3. Customers must board trains from the northbound platform.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on O'Hare Branch of Blue Line on Sunday
A single track will be in effect between the Western and Damen stations from 9 p.m. on Sunday, March 2 until 4 a.m. Monday, March 3.

Southbound customers at the Western and Damen stations must board and exit trains on the northbound platform.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Helicopter Lift on State Street
A helicopter lift will take place on State Street on Sunday, March 3 from 9 a.m. until10 a.m. Red Line customers at Madison will be redirected to other nearby entrances during this time as the lift occurs near the Madison/Monroe station entrance.

#19 United Center Express Serves Bulls, Blackhawks and Concerts
CTA will operate its #19 United Center Express buses on the following dates and times:

  • Friday, February 29 at 7 p.m. " Bulls versus Washington Wizards
  • Sunday, March 2 at 2 p.m. " Blackhawks versus Vancouver Canucks
  • Tuesday, March 4 at 7:30 p.m. " Bulls versus Memphis Grizzlies
  • Thursday, March 6 at 6 p.m. " Bulls versus Cleveland Cavaliers

Buses will leave every 12 minutes from Michigan and Superior starting two hours before event time until 30 minutes before the events begin. When the events end, #19 buses will depart the United Center approximately every 15 minutes for one hour.

#19 buses will make all stops on Michigan from Superior to Washington, and on Madison from Wabash to Clinton. From Clinton, #19 buses run express to the United Center.

After the event, #19 buses will await customers on the north side of the United Center eastbound on Madison near Gate 3. On the return trip, #19 buses operate through downtown east on Washington to Wacker, then head south to Monroe and east to Michigan, making all stops from Jefferson to Michigan before turning north on Michigan and making all stops from Randolph to Chicago.

Buses Reroute on Weekends for Block 37 Construction
Dearborn between Washington and Randolph will undergo weekend closures due to construction from 9 p.m. each day until 6 a.m. the following morning from Friday, February 29 through Monday, March 3.

Northbound #22 Clark, #36 Broadway and #62 Archer buses will travel over the regular route to Monroe then will operate via Monroe, State, Wacker then return to Dearborn and resume their regular routes.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Buses Continue to Reroute Due to Construction
Westbound #70 Division buses continue to undergo reroutes until Friday, March 21 due to street repairs at Division and Kolmar.

Buses will travel over the regular route to Kostner then will operate via Kostner, Augusta, Cicero then return to Division and resume the regular route.
