Events Affecting CTA Service Beginning Weekend of August 8-10

Blue Line - Slow Zone Work
Blue Line Service between Jefferson Park and Montrose Temporarily Suspended this Weekend for Slow Zone Work
Rail service between the Jefferson Park and Montrose Blue Line stations will be temporarily suspended from 9 p.m. Friday, August 8 to 3 a.m. Monday, August 11 in order to replace deteriorated rail ties, tie plates and spikes.

Bus shuttles will operate as a substitute for rail service between the Jefferson Park and Montrose stations.

Customers should allow extra travel time.

Alternate Service for Customers with Disabilities
Because the Montrose station is not equipped with an elevator, southbound customers who need an elevator to access rail service should board the CTA shuttle bus at Jefferson Park, which will stop at Montrose station and then proceed to the accessible Logan Square station.

Northbound customers are advised to exit at Logan Square rather than traveling to Montrose, where they can board a CTA shuttle bus to the accessible Jefferson Park station.

Customers with disabilities also have the option of boarding a #56 Milwaukee bus which operates between both stations.

Late Night Single Track on O'Hare Branch of the Blue Line Next Week
From 8 p.m. until 4 a.m. the following morning beginning Tuesday, August 12 through Friday morning, August 15,
a single track will be in effect for southbound Blue Line trains between the Montrose and Addison stations.

Southbound customers at the Irving Park station must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Red Line - Slow Zone Work
Red Line Subway Trains Temporarily Rerouted to Elevated Tracks This Weekend
Service on the Red Line between the Fullerton and Cermak-Chinatown stations will be temporarily rerouted in both directions from the subway to the elevated tracks from 9 p.m. Friday, August 8 until 3 a.m. Monday, August 11. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Bus shuttle service will also be available between select Red and Brown Line stations.

Rerouted trains will stop at the following elevated stations between Cermak-Chinatown and Fullerton: Roosevelt/Wabash, Adams/Wabash, Madison/Wabash, Randolph/Wabash, State/Lake, Clark/Lake, Merchandise Mart, Chicago/Franklin, Sedgwick and Armitage. The Merchandise Mart station is available as an exit only (via stairway) on Saturday morning from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. and Sunday morning from 12:50 a.m. to 7:10 a.m., and weekdays from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m.

Next Week - Southbound
Southbound Red Line subway trains will be rerouted to the elevated tracks from 9 p.m. each night until 5 a.m. the following morning beginning Monday, August 11 through Friday morning, August 15. Northbound service is not affected during these times.

Southbound Red Line trains will operate normally between the Howard and Fullerton stations and between the Cermak-Chinatown and 95th stations.

Rerouted southbound trains will stop at the following elevated stations between Fullerton and Cermak-Chinatown: Armitage, Sedgwick, Chicago/Franklin, Merchandise Mart, Clark/Lake, State/Lake, Randolph/Wabash, Madison/Wabash, Adams/Wabash and Roosevelt/Wabash. The Merchandise Mart station is available as an exit only (via stairway) from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. on weekdays.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Red Line Trains Temporarily Rerouted at Sheridan
From 7 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Saturday, August 9,
northbound and southbound Red Line trains will operate on the Purple Express tracks. Customers at the Sheridan station must board and exit trains on the Purple Express side of each platform. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Brown Line - Slow Zone Work
Northbound Single Track in Effect on Brown Line This Weekend
A single track will be in effect for northbound Brown Line trains between the Addison and Western stations from 3 a.m. Saturday, August 9 until 3 a.m. Monday, August 11.

During this time, northbound customers at the Montrose Brown Line station must board and exit trains from the southbound platform. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Next Week
From 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 13 to 4 a.m. the following morning and then again from 8 p.m. Thursday, August 14 to 4 a.m. the following morning, a single track will be in effect for northbound Brown Line trains between Addison and Western. Customers at the Montrose station must board and exit trains from the southbound platform. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Late Night Single Track in Effect on Brown Line Next Week
A single track will be in effect for northbound Brown Line trains between the Southport and Addison stations from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. the following morning on Monday, August 11 and then again during the same hours on Tuesday night, August 12.

During these times, northbound customers at the Southport and Addison Brown Line stations must board and exit trains from the southbound platform. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Brown/Red Lines - Other Events Affecting Service
Red and Brown Line Trains Temporarily Rerouted at Belmont
Due to work associated with the Brown Line Capacity Expansion project, southbound Red and Brown Line trains will be temporarily rerouted to operate on the northbound tracks at the Belmont station from 8 p.m. Friday, August 8 until 8:30 a.m. the following morning.

Southbound customers at Belmont must board and exit trains from the northbound Red Line side of the platform. Northbound Red and Brown Line customers must board and exit trains from the northbound Brown Line side of the platform.

During this time, southbound Brown Line trains will be unable to stop at Diversey. Southbound Brown Line customers traveling to Diversey should exit at Fullerton and board a northbound train to Diversey. Customers boarding at Diversey traveling southbound should board a northbound train and exit at Belmont to board a southbound train.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Next Week
From 8 p.m. Thursday, August 14 until 4 a.m. the following morning, southbound Red and Brown Line trains will continue to be temporarily rerouted to operate on the northbound tracks at the Belmont station. Southbound customers at Belmont must board and exit trains from the northbound Red Line side of the platform. Northbound Red and Brown Line customers must board and exit trains from the northbound Brown Line side of the platform.

During this time, southbound Brown Line trains will be unable to stop at Diversey. Southbound Brown Line customers traveling to Diversey should exit at Fullerton and board a northbound train to Diversey. Customers boarding at Diversey traveling southbound should board a northbound train and exit at Belmont to board a southbound train.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Blue Line - Other Events Affecting Service
Late Night Single Track in Effect on Forest Park Branch of Blue Line
A late night single track will be in effect for southbound Blue Line trains between the UIC-Halsted and Western stations from 9 p.m. Monday, August 11 until 4 a.m. the following morning.

Southbound customers at the Racine and Medical District stations must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Green Line - Other Events Affecting Service
Late Night Single Track in Effect on Green Line Next Week
From 10 p.m. Sunday, August 10 until 4 a.m. the following morning,
a single track will be in effect between the Austin and Harlem Green Line stations while crews conduct track maintenance and repair work.

Northbound customers at the Austin, Oak Park and Ridgeland stations must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Next Week - Southbound
A southbound single track will be in effect between the Harlem and Austin Green Line stations from 10 p.m. until 4 a.m. the following morning beginning Monday, August 11 through Friday morning, August 15. Southbound customers at the Oak Park, Ridgeland and Austin stations must board and exit trains from the northbound side of platform.

Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.

Additional Bus/Rail Service for Events
CTA Provides Convenient Service to the Bud Billiken Parade Saturday
CTA will provide extra bus and rail service on Saturday, August 9 to accommodate the anticipated crowds heading to the 79th Annual Bud Billiken Parade on Chicago's South Side.

Extra service will be provided on bus routes operating close to the parade venue. In addition, CTA will reroute the #3 King Drive, #15 Jeffery Local, #43 43rd, #47 47th and #55 Garfield buses around the immediate parade area. Longer Green Line trains will operate as crowds warrant.

New/Updated Changes in Bus Service
Temporary Relocation of #35 35th Bus Stop
Until further notice, the northeast bus stop located at 300 E. 26th Street served by #35 35th buses will be temporarily relocated to the west side of the street due to construction.

Buses Rerouted This Weekend for the Halsted Market Day's Festival
From 3 a.m. Saturday, August 9 until 3 a.m. Monday, August 11, Halsted Street will be closed between Belmont and Addison for the Halsted Market Day's Festival. #8 Halsted buses operating in both directions will travel over the regular route along Halsted to Clark and then operate via Clark, Sheffield, Addison to Halsted and then resume the regular route.

#53 Pulaski Buses Further Rerouted for St. Agnes of Bohemia Augustfest
In addition to the reroute currently under way due to sewer work; Central Park Avenue at 26th will also be temporarily closed due to the St. Agnes of Bohemia Augustfest. As a result, #53 Pulaski buses will undergo an additional reroute. Until Monday, August 11 at 5 a.m., #53 buses operating in both directions will travel over the regular route along Pulaski to 26th and then operate via 26th, Lawndale, 31st to Pulaski for the end of the route.

Monday - Resume Previous Reroute of #53 Buses
Effective the morning rush on Monday, August 11, #53 buses will resume the temporary reroute previously implemented due to sewer repair work. Until Friday, August 29, buses operating in both directions will travel over the regular route along Pulaski to 26th and then will operate via 26th, Central Park, 31st to Pulaski and then resume the regular route.

Buses Rerouted Due to Harrison Street Bridge Rehabilitation
Until Friday, September 5, the Harrison Street Bridge over the South Branch of the Chicago River will be closed to all traffic due to rehabilitation work.

Northbound #11 Lincoln/Sedgwick buses will operate over the regular route along Harrison to Canal and then travel via Canal, Jackson to Franklin then resume the regular route.

Southbound #36 Broadway buses operating to Harrison/DesPlaines (10 p.m. and later) will travel along Harrison to Franklin then operate via Franklin, Van Buren, Clinton to Harrison and then resume the regular route. Northbound #36 buses operating from Harrison/Desplaines will travel over the regular route along Harrison to Canal then operate via Canal, Jackson to Dearborn and resume the regular route.

Ecuadorian Parade and Festival Reroute Buses This Sunday
On Sunday, August 10 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Montrose Avenue will be closed between Western and Kimball for the Ecuadorian Parade. #78 Montrose buses operating in both directions will travel over the regular route along Montrose to Western and then operate via Western, Irving Park, Kimball to Montrose and then resume the regular route.

Also on Sunday, Lipps Avenue will be closed from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. for the Ecuadorian Festival. During this time, westbound #81 Lawrence buses will operate over the regular route along Lawrence to Milwaukee and travel via Milwaukee to Jefferson Park South Terminal Drive for end of route.

#72 North Buses Temporarily Rerouted This Week
From 6 a.m. Monday, August 11 until 3 p.m. Monday, August 18, the North Avenue Beach terminal will be temporarily closed due to set up for the Air and Water Show. During this time, eastbound #72 North buses will travel over the regular route along North Avenue to LaSalle and then operate via LaSalle, Clark to North for end of route.

Ongoing Bus Reroutes
#201 Central/Ridge Buses Temporarily Rerouted Until Mid-August
Due to construction along Sherman Road, northbound #201 Central/Ridge buses will be temporarily rerouted until Tuesday morning, August 19. Northbound #201 buses will operate the regular route along Clark to Maple and then travel via Maple, Emerson to Ridge and then resume the regular route. Southbound service is not affected.

Sewer Repair Work Reroutes #78 Montrose Buses
Due to sewer repair work, Montrose Avenue will be closed between Wolcott and Hermitage until 4 a.m. Monday, September 8. Eastbound #78 Montrose buses will operate over the regular route along Montrose to Damen then travel via Damen, Wilson, Ashland to Montrose and then resume the regular route. Westbound service is not affected.

Buses Reroute for Construction Through September
#87 87th buses continue to be rerouted in both directions until 5 a.m. Wednesday, September 17, due to street reconstruction.

Eastbound buses will travel over the regular route to Vincennes then will operate via Vincennes, 83rd, Lafayette then return to 87th and resume the regular route. Westbound buses will travel over the regular route to State then will operate via State, 83rd, Vincennes then return to 87th and resume the regular route.

#82 Kimball/Homan Buses Rerouted For Sewer Repair Work
Until 4 a.m. Thursday, September 25, Kimball Avenue will be closed between Foster and Bryn Mawr due to sewer repair work. #82 Kimball/Homan buses operating in both directions will travel over the regular route along Kimball to Foster then will operate via Foster, Kedzie, Bryn Mawr to Kimball and then resume the regular route.

Road Repairs Temporarily Reroute #201 and #206 Buses
Until Monday, September 29, southbound Ridge Avenue between Davis and Main will be closed due to street reconstruction.

Southbound #201 Central/Ridge buses will operate over the regular route along Chicago to Davis then travel via Davis, Asbury, Main to Ridge and then resume the regular route.

During the morning rush period, southbound #206 Evanston Circulator buses will travel over the regular route along Lake to Asbury and then operate via Asbury, Main to Ridge and then resume the regular route.

For the evening rush period, southbound #206 buses will operate along Dempster to Asbury then travel via Asbury, Main to Ridge and then resume the regular route.

Buses Rerouted on Saturdays for the Near North Farmer's Market
From 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. every Saturday through October 25, Division Street between State and Clark will be closed for the Near North Farmer's Market.

During this time, southbound #36 Broadway buses will travel over the regular route to Clark then will operate via Clark, Maple to State and then resume the regular route. Northbound #36 buses will operate over the regular route to State then will travel via State, Elm to Clark and then resume the regular route.

Eastbound #70 Division buses will travel over the regular route along Division to Clark and then operate via Clark, Maple to Dearborn and then resume the regular route. Westbound service is not affected.

Buses Reroute Downtown for Construction
From midnight each night until 6 a.m. the following morning Randolph Street will be closed from State to Dearborn through Saturday, November 1.

In addition, Dearborn Street is closed between Washington and Randolph from 9 p.m. each day until 6 a.m. the following morning through Saturday, November 1.

Northbound #22 Clark, #36 Broadway and #62 Archer buses will travel over the regular route along Dearborn to Monroe and will then operate via Monroe, State, Wacker to Dearborn and then resume the regular route.

Bridge Reconstruction Reroutes Buses
The reroute of #205 Chicago/Golf buses will continue until November 16, due to bridge reconstruction on Emerson between Leland and McCormick. #205 buses will operate in both directions via Church, McCormick to Golf and then resume the regular route.

Railroad Bridge Repairs Reroute #75 74th/75th Buses
Until Wednesday, December 31, 2008, #75 74th/75th buses will be rerouted on weekdays only from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. due to railroad bridge repair work in the 7500 block of South Loomis Street. #75 buses operating in both directions will travel along 74th Street to Ashland then will operate via Ashland, 76th, Racine to 74th and then resume the regular route.

Buses Rerouted on Harrison Due to Construction
Harrison Street between Paulina Street and Ashland Avenue continues to be closed until Thursday, January 1, 2009, due to construction. During this time, eastbound #7 Harrison and #126 Jackson buses will be rerouted.

Eastbound #7 buses will travel over the regular route to Paulina then will operate via Polk, Ashland to Harrison and resume the regular route.

Eastbound #126 buses operating during late evenings, weekends and holidays will travel over the regular route to Harrison then will operate via Harrison, Wood, Polk, Ashland to Harrison and then resume the regular route.

Bus Stop Temporarily Relocated
Until further notice, the westbound mid-block bus stop located at Harrison near Paulina served by the #7 Harrison will be temporarily relocated around the corner on Paulina due to construction.

Buses Rerouted Due to Water Main Repairs
Until further notice, #6 Jackson Park Express and #79 79th buses will be temporarily rerouted as 79th Street is closed between South Shore Drive and Brandon Avenue.

Southbound #6 buses will operate over the regular route along South Shore to 83rd Street and will then travel via 83rd, Exchange, 79th to Coles for end of route and northbound buses will resume the regular route.

Eastbound #79 buses will travel over the regular route along 79th Street to Cheltenham and then operate via Cheltenham, Coles, 76th, South Shore to 79th for end of route and westbound will resume the regular route.

Bus Stops Along Solidarity Drive Temporarily Removed Due to Construction
Until further notice, all bus stops along Solidarity Drive served by the #12 Roosevelt and #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express buses will be temporarily removed due to construction. Customers traveling to and from the Shedd Aquarium should exit and board #12 and #146 buses at McFetridge Drive.

Buses Reroute at Clark and Polk
Until further notice, #22 Clark and #36 Broadway buses will be rerouted in the area of Clark and Polk streets and will not be providing any service south of Harrison.

Southbound #22 Clark customers traveling to Polk will need to transfer to a #24 Wentworth bus prior to Congress (or a #129 West Loop/South Loop bus available only on weekdays during the morning and evening rush periods) to complete their trip.

Southbound #36 Broadway customers traveling to Polk will need to transfer to a #29 State or #62 Archer bus prior to Congress to complete their trip.

Both northbound #22 and #36 customers can board buses north of Harrison on Dearborn.

Bus Service Changes Due to Construction at State and Grand
#36 Broadway and southbound #29 State buses are rerouting until further notice at Grand Avenue and State Street due to construction at the Red Line's Grand station.

Southbound #36 and #29 buses will travel over the regular route to Grand then will operate via Clark to Illinois then return to State and resume the regular route.

Northbound #36 buses will travel over the regular route to Dearborn then will operate via Dearborn to Ohio, then return to State and resume the regular route.

Buses Reroute Due to Construction
Halsted is closed at Root Street between the hours of 6 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. and again at 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. each day until further notice, due to construction. #43 43rd buses will operate in both directions via Halsted, 45th Street, Morgan to Exchange and then resume the regular route.

#60 Blue Island/26th Buses Rerouted Due to Lane Closure
Until further notice, Laflin Street between Cermak and 21st Place will be closed to all traffic due to construction at Benito Juarez School. #60 Blue Island/26th buses operating in both directions will travel over the regular route to Cermak then will operate via Cermak, Loomis, 21st Street then return to Laflin and resume the regular route.
